This Badings's symphony seems to be the most easy-going and accessible work in the genre. The first movement starts a bit mysterious and it takes a few minutes to become more straight forward. The symphony continues with a wonderful scherzo, delicate and lyrical third movement with highly memorable melodic development while dance-like finale brings this symphony to effective end. I enjoy listening to this symphony again and again and that's what really matters if you want to create a masterpiece. :)
This was my introduction to Badings works back in the 1950's when I received the Louisville "First Edition" LP conducted by Robert Whitney in my mail. Now I'm privileged to hear this fine symphony in another worthy performance, along with most of his others, thanks to YT. They are all excellent; this one I find, appropriately enough, has an especially American-sounding finale.

Really outstanding symphonist. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! I didn't expect to have to be wearing seat belts early in this symphony.
