In football, or soccer as Americans call it, attacking is always the best way to defend. You keep possession of the ball and keep pressure up, denying the opposition to pressure you instead.
In simple stats and probability, if you let the enemy shoot say 50 times, a few of them is bound to go in. So best to remove their chances completely.
If you watch the recent Euros, a lot of teams lost because they took their foot off the gas pedal when they're up 1 or 2 goals and sat in defence instead.

Not to mention Miami were playing with 10 men for more than half of the match. And despite all of this, Miami still won with 4 superb goals. Toronto weren't anywhere near the level of Inter Miami tonight.
