I think I've been doing this somewhat already, but I can tell that I could use more control and probably more motion in my pick attack. I also didn't know about using the width of motion to control volume, so now I can get better at dynamics! Incidentally, I am curious about how you keep your pick in a good spot while resting behind the bridge. I haven't found a way to rest my hand that doesn't sometimes mute the lower strings, so I usually float and occasionally rest on the corner of the bridge for more precision.
Yes! The floating technique works great as well. I end up resting my hand behind the bridge where my hand is resting more on the A and E strings instead of the lower two strings. And really, only about half of my lower palm is actually resting on the strings because my hand is slightly angled.
