      There might be a good chance. Streum On is currently working on Spacehulk: Deathwing, a Left 4 Dead-esque team-based shooter. They said that they have plans to return to EYE after that, so hopefully we'll see something cool in the next few years or so.

    I'm big on cyberpunk game and have played a number of the usual suspects in the genre (Deus Ex, System Shock and a few others) but I've never heard of EYE before, which is strange as I've looked for ages for games related to the cyberpunk genre.
    I totally agree with the 'Press X to hack' evaluation of console gamers who have never really played a solid game where they really are in control.

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You should definitely get E.Y.E., it often goes on sale for $2 or less. And...yeah, a lot of these games, and especially Watch Underscore Dogs really holds your hands. Instead of creating something different and maybe focusing more on the hacking and less on shooting people, Ubisoft decided that they wanted to make a hacker movie for a game and not let people be able to do anything fun. It really makes me upset, because the game could have been something special, but now that's a distant memory.

    • @reggiep75

      I've went and bought a copy of the game on Steam (after a long search around all the usual bargain outlets) but couldn't get it at a bargain price, but as long as there's over 30 hours or mentalism & chaos in the game, I'll be happy.
      Console games these days don't so much hold your had but strap you in, force you to submit your intelligence, abandon your attention and just press a few buttons when you're instructed to or you'll fail and not get the delicious 'achievement' that games are so geared towards these days.
      You're a failure if you don't get the achievement haha!
      I think I'm in the same mindset as yourself when a concept of a game sounds absolutely great but you just know it's gonna fail so hard as it's been made for a kid even tho it says 18 on the box.
      I've been gradually disgruntled over the last 15 years when people show me 'allegedly' ground breaking games (on their console) and it's things I've seen years before, at a better standard and with more control rather than pointless button mashing that triggers streams of attacks or quick time events that seriously boil my piss!
      Auto combos really piss me off something rotten! It's like 'press A for a 12 year old impressing stream of pre-programmed attack moves' rather than press a combo of 3-4 buttons for a skillful, stylish and control requiring attack combo!
      The same people tried to impress me with online gaming about 8 years ago and they looked a bit lost when I told them I had been doing it 8-9 years before and with full control of the hosted session to stop cheating and exploits. I didn't have to pay a single penny for it either.
      The games industry has been flooded with entitled clowns who really need their quickscoping, recovering health and other skill devoid requirements rather than play with skill, hunt for medkits and health packs.
      I think I could rag on the console industry for weeks if I wanted too with their 'exclusives', out of date as soon as it hits the shelf consoles and other entitlements, but they'll never be likely to lay eyes on games that truly amaze if they thing that consoles are the best thing since sliced bread.
      As for achievements tho, my greatest achievement in a game was killing 10,000 people in GTA 4 which I was brutally proud of and pleased with. About 7000-8000 of those were done with no weapon at all, just a nice truck hahaha!

    I know this game from its release, and I play it from time to time. Me and a few of my friends spent a lot of hours on it.
    And man your review is the best one I saw on the internet. You made it in 2016, a few years after the game first came out, and I think people (me included) needed these few yers to realize how this game is a masterpeace, a masterpeace that I love even if it has many flaws.

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man, it's a really great game despite it's flaws. Many people think that the story is incoherent, which it's not, it's just kinda hard to read. I usually ignore story elements in most games anyways, so it's not a big deal to me personally. For me though, I really love the gameplay and atmosphere. It just really hits home with me.
      And thanks man; I watched a few reviews on EYE and I thought that some of them were lacking a little or just weren't covering something that I wanted to see addressed. Looking back on this video, I could have easily made it 40 minutes long if I wanted to go fully into detail about the game, but I was sorta nervous about that. I'm actually working on a review/analysis for another game at the moment. It's a long one and it's taking me a while, but it probably actually will end up being 40 minutes to an hour long.

      Here I am commenting on this a year later... only now am I realizing the incredible depth and capabilities of your character, and the story: absolutely mind-blowing! Although it uses the outdated Source Engine, it pushed the software to it's limits. This game was ahead of it's time, and should honestly be revisited and shared!

    +Jip Jackson For some reason, I can't reply directly to you, so I hope that you see this.
    I'm sorry, I can't agree with any of that. If they wanted to, Ubisoft could very well have made the hacking system more interesting, and if you look at the 2012 E3 demo for it, it was a bit more interesting. You had to actually choose which hack you wanted to use. That would make it so that you would have to actually, possibly plan ahead before you jump into a situation. They could've just kept what they had in the demo and it could have made the game much more intuitive and would actually require planning. Alternatively, have a system like Bioshock 2 where you have to press the button at the right time to execute a hack. That could've made the gameplay a bit more tense, requiring the player to pay attention to more than 1 thing at a time. As it is, it's just press a button to do thing. It's Batman levels of gameplay here.
    Also, a Cyberpunk DayZ might be cool, if it's made by competent developers that aren't the people that make DayZ.

    E.Y.E. let's you change the game settings to MAKE it a stealth game if you want to......it's a highly customizable game experience and most ppl don't even realize they can do that. It's rare to see that outside of survival games nowadays and when E.Y.E. came out it was practically unheard of. One of my favorite things about the game tbh.

Given the amount of creativity on display and the complexity of the systems, I think they could make something really amazing, even if it doesn't resemble a full triple-A release as far as graphics and scale.

    My basic stealth strategy is cloak, high agility and motra (the silenced smg), you rush to a good spot and take out the enemies one by one with headshots by leaning out from cover. But only if necessary, if you level up enough you can just bypass most enemies

    If this isnt a stealth game, why does every npc from the beginning tells me to stealth? First mission "Hardly a stealthy entry, please stay quiet while taking down the generators and killing some random punk" After taking one step into the street, the whole level notices me. I have to kill everyone, after that the level is basically empty except for turrets. Second mission "Steal some stuff from the warehouse, its heavily guarded so dont get caught." One step, caught. And the NPC is mad at me for getting caught. Sneaking with light armor, crouched, but no invis or anything because you dont have that from the start. Yet still being seen from further than possible viewrange. Why even have levels if all enemies run at you from the start?

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Couldn't tell you my dude. The stealth in E.Y.E. is extremely half-baked, if that. It's technically possible with the cloaking, I'm sure. Even then, I've run into the same thing on the first level even when cloaked. The first enemy I take out with a silenced sniper rifle is enough to rile up all the enemies. Despite the NPC's warnings, stealth is almost never a good option because the system for it sucks unless you put AI on easy in the settings and constantly use cloak.

    • @Ma3ckes
      @Ma3ckes 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It kinda set a wrong impression to me at the start. Maybe I have to go at it again with another mindset. From the dialoque it really felt the game wants to be played like Deus Ex. Thanks to your video, I might give this game a third chance.

      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    i dont agree with your "controller" comment, its mistake of the devs because they can make lots of combination but they dont, there is games with tons of hotkeys and its manageable. LT+RS LB+RS etc lots can be done for fps genre and i dont enjoy fps on pc because lots of people use cheat programs and it gives me feeling that everyone cheats, i know its not the case but it gives uncomfortable feels so console fps is my choice. also adjusting your speed with leftstick rocks :D

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do agree that it's the developers' faults that there's not a lot of good button combinations or action variety, but even with button combinations, I feel that controllers are a very weak alternative to M+KB, and this is disregarding the fine aiming aspect. I said that there's technically...what, 17 or SINGLE button presses total on a controller? A Keyboard has what...about 100? A mouse can have, depending on the mouse, anywhere between 3-10 buttons, if not more? On top of that, you could also have button combinations on PC, so that would raise the amount of buttons, combinations, and corresponding actions to...fuck man, a really high number. I feel that your justification for playing on console is disingenuous, because there are cheaters that play on consoles as well, but hey, I don't give a shit what platform you play on, because that's your business.

    • @boraguney2334

      yeah cheaters on console too but its kinda easier to spot em and ban em also when u get ur console banned u just cant unlock it gotta sell n buy new console which not many bothers to. maybe i do suck at pc fps but console feels better.

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense. Your explanation, not his logic. I know some more tactical style shooters have it so you keep your used mags on you if you reload. Off the top of my head, I think maybe Insurgency, Rising Storm 2, and America's Army: Proving Grounds come to mind. It's not that big of a deal in E.Y.E. because armories are around every corner and it's easy to restock from dead enemies anyways.

    That ''Press X to hack'' comment does make me think. What would you propose is a good way to handle hacking in gaming? I imagine a minigame, but what kind? I have seen a few games in which the hacking is an old school shooter, which seems kind of silly to me. I think it should be some kind of puzzle game. I am not entirely sure how hacking even works in real life. What do you think would be a good way to handle it?

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what kind of game you're playing to begin with. A slower first person shooter could get away with having minigames that require some modicum of thought put into executing the hack. An easy example is Bioshock. I think that the hacking minigame in that game is difficult enough, but fast enough to complete that it doesn't detract too much, if at all from the base game. Bioshock 2 streamlines this process to a timing minigame that runs in real-time while everything is going on around you, and arguably this method is better. If I had to create some way to "complicate" the hacking mechanics in Watch Dogs, I would probably incorporate something like Bioshock 2's. It requires timing, can be completed in a matter of seconds, and opens up an opportunity for Ubisoft to incorporate their generic upgrade paths that they add to all of their games to make it easier if you're more interested in hacking than you are combat. A hacking system like E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy would be, let's face it, probably too complicated and too boring for a mainstream audience. Not to say that I'm smarter than a mainstream audience or anything, it's just that particular minigame wouldn't suit itself well with an action game like Watch Dogs.

      Sure, but you can change FOV in Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. That being said, those games are constantly updated by Valve and you can only go between 75 and 90, but I just like options man. It's a pain in the ass to have to go into the console to get a higher FOV. EYE defaults to 90, which is probably fine for most people, but I prefer over 100.

    Hello man, I really want to give this game a try, since it's so different and I like that in games that weirdness, maybe that's why I love Pathologic so much. But Pathologic, I won't say it had a gripping story, but it had a gripping world, characters, events and the purpose that drove the characters was so humane and deep.
    I'm still not sure about the driving force in this game and how it pushes you forward. So other than simply killing dudes, is there at least an interesting drive?

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that, for me at least, what drove me to continue to play the game was seeing what new environments, characters, and situations you'll run into next. E.Y.E. has an amazing art direction and every level feels quite unique and grand. That's partially why I only presented the first couple levels or so. You'll run into a bunch of different characters that are both humorous and strange. I played this a few times on my own and with friends, and each time we would take time to simply explore the level and look at cool shit. As for other stuff, there are the main missions which will have you infiltrating bases, setting up ambushes on corrupt Secreta soldiers, bribing a corrupt federation officer, etc. a A lot of the missions are interesting simply because of how weird the locations and NPCs are. I recommend downloading the demo on Steam. But the game does go on sale often for $1-2 USD.

    • @Rogerio_FM
      @Rogerio_FM 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, it's ok, the demo made me dislike the game, but you convinced me the game is weird enough to be worth it. It's not expensive, even now.
      You should take a look into Pathologic though.It's different, the kind of enemies, the nature of the problems in the town makes it unique, terrible combat though as it's not really recommended, not that the game is stealthy, argh, I don't want to spoil stuff, But please give it a look, you might enjoy it.
      Any game that have you trading a gun for a loaf of bread and makes you still think you had a good deal, is unique enough for me to try.

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rogerio I'll definitely look into it. Pathologic has been a game that I've wanted to try for some time, but I haven't had the time myself to get into it.

    • @Rogerio_FM
      @Rogerio_FM 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Went and bouught the game, yep, having fun, very good game with a lot of depth. The story is weird as hell and not helped by the tiny fonts. But the gameplay carries it very well, you see tangible improvement on your characters when leveling up and researching perks.
      A bit disappointed by the late game weapons though, because the initial ones are so strong. Dual Wielding is amazing too, high strengh and high accuracy makes you a beast. And I love that OP Magnun that can bring down gunships with two shots.
      Thanks for the review, I would have ignored the game otherwise.

    6:05 That's how ammo works though,unless it's a shotgun or an FPS made in 2001,when you reload you throw away the old clip along with any bullets left in it.

    There's a patch/mod out there somewhere that helps with the translation. I think it's on moddb. The story is actually pretty rad, it's just confusing as heck. You have to beat the game multiple times to get all endings.

    You wanna talk about cliche art styles: EYE is ripped straight from Warhammer 40K

      Garl Vinland I would call that inspired, not cliche.

      And yet you would define Bloodborne's art as cliche because it features tentacles in its Lovecraftian inspired visuals?

      Garl Vinland yep

    • @Garl_Vinland
      @Garl_Vinland 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Uhuh? You realize that Warhammer 40K is built on cliches correct? Genestealers, Space Marines, all taken from popular science fiction tropes. Its gothic style lends itself entirely from its sub genre without adding anything nuanced. In our pop culture filled with Jin-Roh, Star Wars, Helghasts etc. The concept of edge lords in scary black armour and glowing eyes saturates fiction, and is no exception in E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy, which not only takes those cliches, but borderline plagiarizes their designs.
      Bloodborne has some tentacles in its Gothic Horror inspired by the likes of Bram Stoker turned Howard Lovecraft. But at least as a whole, it takes its inspirational material and spins its own take on it. Bloodborne is inspired. E.Y.E is cliche. Strictly by definition.

    Are there any mods you would recommend for someone new?

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really. There's a fisheye lens remover mod which removed the fisheye effect on weapon scopes and whatnot, but it wasn't a big deal for me. As well, there's a mod which "fixes" the translations in a lot of the text and whatnot. It can definitely help if you don't understand what's going on, but I think that it loses some of the charm if you do that.

      +LegacYakaMK How'd you manage that?

    • @Yura-Sensei
      @Yura-Sensei 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +EonKool used the Xpadder software that lets you bind anything to the buttons and allows great modifiers and other features. I play all games with controller because I like to chill on a couch while playing

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figured you used Xpadder, but how did you manage to get a lot of the different functions binded on the controller? I never used Xpadder save for once years ago, but I never delved deep into it because I'm not a big fan of using controllers for FPS's. Is it that much more modifiable to use on PC than say on consoles?

    • @Yura-Sensei
      @Yura-Sensei 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use alot of clever tricks if you want alot of functionallity on a controller. I even play mmorpgs with controller and able to bind ~25 skills/spells. You can add control/shift modifiers to let's say a bumper or a trigger and press a face button which would jump or do something else without the modifier. Also you can use buttons to swtich to whole different set of controls while held or toggled. You can also make timed presses for different actions and so on. You cannot adjust official controls alot in the games for the most time though. Bottom line, it is possible to have the controller do a shit ton of things, but it takes alot of time to make it elegant and intuitive.

    • @EonKool
      @EonKool  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's interesting, but that's the problem though is that a lot of developers don't seem to put time into making the controls intuitive on a controller. Look at games on consoles and there's only a handful of things that the game lets you do because the developers didn't really intend to allow the use of modifiers on the controllers like you said. You look at a lot of recent FPS games and their controls tend to be dumbed down in one way or another. And I know that games like Battlefield and even Fallout 4 have those lean functions removed from the players hand for the most part. I believe that you can disable it on Battlefield for PC if you wish, but I'm not sure about Fallout 4. I'm sure there's a mod or something, but bottom line is; developers seem to always develop mainly with consoles in mind, and so they make controls more "streamlined" so players don't have to worry about it. And it's great that you can add these modifiers on your own on your controllers, but that's with PC gaming. I don't own consoles anymore, but from what I've played with some newer games on the current gen consoles, it's still extremely limited to just what the developers want you to be able to do on the controller. I still think that this is a problem because, as I've been saying, it limit functionality for players and the ability to play how they want. I'm all about options man and that's what makes PC gaming so great over consoles in my mind. Sorry for being so long-winded, but it just really irritates me when you see modern games with controls that have been essentially removed from your hands over the idea of simplicity.
