Good video! The brass fitting popped out of my solex, exactly as you described and sprayed fuel throughout my engine bay. Lucky not to have a fire. I fixed it as you described by tapping it home and with JB weld and peening to secure it permanently 👍
Interesting about the glass filters. I'm running one but it's actually tucked up to the side, closer to the firewall, and is suspended as the lines either side of it are cable tied up to keep everything away from the engine. I also dont have tin wear but padded heat shielding between the engine and the firewall, and that surrounds the glass filter. After what you've said, I may change it for a quality plastic one. I originally avoided plastic ones because everyone said they fail. Can't win lol.

On my bus I always put the fuel filter above the transmission which is harder to get to but safer if it decides to leak.
Also wires and hoses hate constant movement due to vibrations and etc. I would secure them properly

could you use lock tight thread seal on the brass carb part?
j and b weld works ok but if yours is loose some guys use bailing wire from the hose clamp to one of the carb bolts keep it tight and also j and b it.
we dont use that type of filters in our corvairs
