You’re right, everyone seems to be decorating earlier, I remember when I was younger, my mother would never put the decs up until 2 weeks before Christmas. I think the early decorating now, especially in the UK, is a sign of the times 🤷♀️, there is so much trouble in the world that people seem to need Christmas a lot more. But what a lovely video, I always find your vids so relaxing 😊

Just found your channel this evening! Fun to watch you getting ready for Christmas! I live in Norfolk, where we have just had storm Bert blowing through. Yesterday was too windy to be up a ladder, so as today was sunny and dry, my husband and I put up our warm white icicle lights under the eaves and gables of our Edwardian home. It is the first of our preparations for Christmas and being the 25th, didn't feel too early (although probably the earliest in our lifetimes!) You are right about doing things that enhance everyday life as much as possible: we have fairy lights up all year round too! I love listening to Kings College choral music or The Messiah while I'm preparing: it gets me in the right mood, while not being overtly Christmassy! It has to be at least December for that!
The storm really did hit and glad you got things done before it as it was a batten down the hatches weekend. Look forward to your next episode. The barn and farm were lovely and so much hard work put in all round.

In order to get the most out of the tree I try for a month before and they last now. It is Spring straight after Christmas for me and the bulbs and snowdrops reign and my Amaryllis indoors. I love your necklace that you wear and jewellery is so important in our family. My mother always wore jewellery every day.

Another cosy vlog thank you! The snow was just magical wasn’t it. I was driving to Chichester for a job and with the huge snowflakes coming down, and heart Xmas on the radio (since mid October I must admit) I was having such a great time 😂 luckily not a disruptive snow this time! I will absolutely dry out some oranges this year :)

I also have pernicious anemia also have vitamin B injections every 8 weeks as 12 weeks was just impossible, apparently i was to young to suffer pernicious anemia but younger people are developing the condition,my iron also gets quite low. I remember fetching a dozen boxes of hops from a hop farm in Herefordshire for our shop in Snowdonia about twenty years ago. By the time I returned I was feeling rather heady!! Yes, Cherry I still have nightmares about the mess too!! Lovely video again.

I’ve never heard of using “hops” as garland decoration. They look lovely. We use pine greenery for garland in the U.S. I love the screen in front of your fireplace. I’d love to have one.

I grew up in Germany and we didn't start decorating until the First Advent and our Tree didn't go up until December 24th. I live in the US now and I usually don't start decorating until the end of November, because we still have Thanksgiving first.......But this year, OH WELL, with everything that happened doing our election a lot of us decided we needed Christmas cheers ASAP and my Tree went up 2 weeks ago LOL
I have pernicious anemia too. Interesting you’re jabbed every 8 weeks. I will talk to my gp because I drag myself about for the last 4 weeks. Vit C helps you absorb iron so makes sense your body wants to replenish iron and vit c. B12 leaches your vit d too so I take a supplement. Lovely video. I’ll be buying oranges tomorrow 😊

If I remember correctly - vitamin C (orange juice) helps the iron absorb better in the body.

I remember fetching a dozen boxes of hops from a hop farm in Herefordshire for our shop in Snowdonia about twenty years ago. By the time I returned I was feeling rather heady!! Yes, Cherry I still have nightmares about the mess too!! Lovely video again.
What a wonderful video! I am just so happy I found your channel. I love all of your beautiful fresh decorations. I have been wanting to try drying orange slices for a few years now. Maybe I will do it this year. I cheated before & just used some from potpourri. I also prefer lamps & fairy lights instead of overhead lights. It's more cozy. Happy holidays! I’ve never heard of using “hops” as garland decoration. They look lovely. We use pine greenery for garland in the U.S. I love the screen in front of your fireplace. I’d love to have one.

Love your Christmas greenery and the hops look amazing with the lights behind. I think I would have taken everything from the work surface before putting up the hops as it would have made it easier for you to clean. I discovered you on TH-cam a few weeks ago. I only live half an hour away from Petworth, it is a lovely traditional Sussex town which I love to visit. Next time I will visit your little coffee shop. 💕🎄

All your decorations are to die for I love rustic I’m akin with you I have a home where rustic is so welcoming and your home is right up there you are so artistic and when you said your garlands are not perfect oh they are for me rustic that people try to recreate is in fact very hard because rustic is not perfect that’s the whole point it lives and breathes it’s used and history made relaxed living and your decor and home is Stunning it took my breath away I can’t wait for your next vlog thank you so much for sharing all your hard work and creativity and loved the girls singing 😂 🎄💜 PS you need vitamin C or you can not store iron. I grew up in Germany and we didn't start decorating until the First Advent and our Tree didn't go up until December 24th. I live in the US now and I usually don't start decorating until the end of November, because we still have Thanksgiving first.......But this year, OH WELL, with everything that happened doing our election a lot of us decided we needed Christmas cheers ASAP and my Tree went up 2 weeks ago LOL

I have pernicious anemia too. Interesting you’re jabbed every 8 weeks. I will talk to my gp because I drag myself about for the last 4 weeks. Vit C helps you absorb iron so makes sense your body wants to replenish iron and vit c. B12 leaches your vit d too so I take a supplement. Lovely video. I’ll be buying oranges tomorrow 😊
Oh Cherry I have recently stumbled across your videos and I love them❤what an interesting person you are😊I love seeing your cosy cottage and I've made some dried oranges that you inspired me to do. Also Ive always wanted to be a reader but never seemed to manage a full book sadly I get very distracted and then give up🤦♀️however I have bought the Thursday murder club on your recomendation and although sadly I dont think I will be able to join the book club as I dont think I can read them as fast as you I will watch for other recomdations📚carn't wait for the next video🎄xx
Not sure about the hops...but your handling of it all is very entertaining...
Vitamin C helps you absorb iron, especially good if the iron is from a plant source which is not absorbed as well as from animals.
