Gameday Preview: Can the defense hold up until the offense figures it out against Tulane?

- The Oklahoma Sooners take on Tulane Saturday on Owen Field. The offense is struggling. We've had numerous chances to see why from national voices like Jordan Rodgers, Aaron Murray and Cole Cubelic. Third down conversions are an issue. The offensive line is an issue. The receivers are an issue. Jackson Arnold has been an issue. We hear from the players on what's happening behind the scenes to fix it. And we get a Tulane preview from their own sideline reporter, Maddy Hudak.
We’re getting carried away with the defense. They will crack. It’s a competent, solid defense. Not elite.
@christophermorales1509 Plsy good teams and you will see.
they’re a good defense not elite. O need to support
Brent’s talked about complementary football for as long as he’s been here. It’ll be a top 15 defense when the offense can stay on the field for an extra 20 snaps a game
We havent really had a solid number one running back since Eric Gray was here. I love Demarco and hes a sooner legend but he has to do hetter with his room
Walker from last year was good. Sucks he transferred
@@jacobsmith5865 I would agree if they would have used him as the number 1 back. I screamed for that all last year. They wouldn't even put him on scholarship. I'm not sold on Demarco right now
Eddie was crushing hard on Maddy for sure lol
Coaches need to plan and set the team up as if Nic Anderson, Andrel Anthony, Jalil Farooq and others are going to be out for the remainder of the season
Offense is not going fast which is a huge part of why Art Briles offense works. This also help the opposition defense.
This chick knows her shit! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If the run game gets going they beat Tulane. If not they lose.
Unless the defense gets 4 turnovers and 2 touchdowns and offense scores 2 touchdowns
I feel like some of our guys need to learn to play through pain
That depends..it's not just about pain tolerance. If an injury makes you a step slow or makes your blocking ineffective ect, you can hurt your team by playing thru it. It's not as simple as toughing it out...
Receivers need to block. Need speed on the outside. It will get better.
You can say they don’t have the game experience and that’s rightfully so however let’s take JOSH Bates. For example, he’s been here for 2 springs 2 Summers 2 FALL CAMPS AND HE CAN’T MAKE BASIC O LINE CALLS I KNOW THIS BECAUSE THEY HAD TO MOVE JAKE SEXTON TO GUARD TO HELP WITH THE CORRECT CALLS. THINK ABOUT IT IF YOU WERE IN YOUR JOB FOR TWO YEARS AND COULDN’T DO THE BASIC THINGS THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH STRENGTH OR SIZE OR PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES.✔️☑️✅
Josh Bates is the 4th string center for a reason. The exact reason you just stated. Been here for 2 summers and fall camps and can’t get it done upfront when it comes game time. That’s not a dig on Bates either. He’s still a young Redshirt freshman. Do you think he would be in the game unless we absolutely had to use him? What else do you want them to do? He’s just got to improve. Plain and simple. He’ll do that with more playing time.
Didn't Taylor Tatum have a rushing TD vs Temple? Or was that a swing pass that I thought was a run?
Think it was on a pitch from Hawkins late game.
Another great broadcast
I took George’s picks for prizepicks and it was a bust! You owe me $20!
Maddy was damn impressive! 👏👏👏
Could've swore I heard Trace Ford on the sports animal saying they dont listen to outside noise and they haven't really done anything different this week in practice. If thats truly the case, its going to be a long season. Especially with all the injures so far.
So you want them to take time out of their busy schedule to monitor social media and listen to podcasts? I think they know much better than us what is going on with the team.
@GreggBennett-ki6yd what does monitoring social media and listening to podcasts have anything to do with what I said. You're obviously just looking to start shit because you obviously missed my point. Which was, they better start hearing the noise and figuring shit out or doing some things differently (which starts in practice) or their going to get steamrolled the rest of the year.
And for the record, Trace Ford took the time to go on the sports animal, so some of them are already doing what you said they were too busy to do. My point that you missed was they need to figure out what works because what they have put out so far isn't even close.
@@royals1833he’s probably talking about the defense specifically considering he’s a defensive player. Which in that case, obviously don’t change anything too drastically because the defense has been playing lights out.
Bestiality overtones? He was quoting a children's book. Why does the dude who always wears a hat have to always be so weird & awkward?
Please don't speak to me about Javante Barnes. I haven't seen squat from him so far (as far as running). I have seen some glimpses from Taylor Tatem. Taylor looks like our best RB. Sawchuck, where are you? Someone step up and run the ball!!
Tatum missed basic blocks in pass pro. and got Jackson Arnold blasted on the few occasions he was in against Houston.
@@amishmafiafabworx4336he’s young but with more playing time he will be the best back by the end of the year. Adrian Peterson had fumble issues but he was the best
I also think our RBs need to stop getting the ball and lowering their heads and not looking for the hole!
Think I’m in love
We win 31-17 boomer
27-3 Tulane
@@Boi-xc4dkno way you will bet that
If OU only knew a quarterback that loved OU that could coach his butt off That they could hire right now
Who are you eluding to?
Cale Gundy.
@@christophermorales1509that ship sailed move on
@@christophermorales1509Josh heupel
Yes the defense will hold up
She bad
Gundy as the offensive coordinator would fix it short term offensively. Coaching is the problem with this team not the players.
What has been wrong with the coaching?
@@Boi-xc4dk Temple and Houston isn't in the same stratosphere in talent with OU... it's most def coaching.
@@oddfuture4521 ya, don’t dare blame the players
In what world has jevonte Barnes been good.. can’t make a guy miss, misses holes, stats don’t show it, but he’s doing good? It’s time to see someone else we’ve seen enough of sachuk and Barnes. I would think it would be okay to sacrifice a few miscues in pass block to have an actual threat to running game.. get guys experience that are going to pick up yards and have them start learning now

She was a good interview but she talks 100 miles an hour
To bad Maddy isnt as pretty as eddie
Spoiler: qb change doesnt make the wr/oline healthy
She likes Michael Pratt 😂
The center Bates should not ever see the field at Oklahoma again! He is incompetent, inconsistent, and completely doesn’t understand situational football! Also START TAYLOR TATUM!!!!!!!!!
Comment in support of algorhythm.
Why aren’t we holding BV and Jerry Schmidt accountable for these injuries? This is year 3 of this crap. Injuries gutting this team.
Charges have already been filed. The footage of BV kicking Gibson in the patellar & Schmidt twisting Hatchett’s bicep was reprehensible.
@@Eboeboebo23about time! After I saw BV stomp on Farook’s bad foot after that long reception saying he should have scored, I knew something had to be done to stop that monster.

Really, you can't be serious. How do you expect the coaches to stop injuries?
I think you all are making a big deal out of not much. The first game OU had some good drives. First drive was good and so was others. Just played a bad game vs Houston.
Wow I had to turn this off! She talks so fast, she was too much for me.
You could always slow down the playback speed if it's such a big problem to you.
@SoonerScoop the first two seconds of this video were very hard to understand, unintelligible. Gross, unfunny joke at the beginning, and the guy in grey keeps flexing or crossing his arms. It's not welcoming, and makes you seem standoffish. Very weird show
Ready for your comments on the final 51 minutes and 11 seconds.
Don't be one of those gays
@@SoonerScoop Nope, y'all ruined it. Part of the process is learning what drives viewers away and what brings them in. Why subscribe to people who can't answer simple criticism and then deflect it manipulatively?
Sounds like Teddy and Gabe might be more your speed. There’s also the Sesame Street podcast available on Apple Podcasts. Enjoy!
Your comment is weird af. If you’re this soft you shouldn’t be watching football podcasts.
