    8:07 - This part, where you go to push down the roof one last time to snug that piece in, is the ONLY reason I knew you were doing this manually and it wasn't pre-coded into a computer. Absolutely incredible work all around. This is wild!!

    This was quite the build. The precision of this machine was very impressive and the use of cucumbers was a perfect idea for the resemblance of logs and for the applicable nature of the machine. The fence, playground, and the scene with the tree branches at the end was a nice touch!
    You did such a good job on this from start to finish. I don't think any factory machine of this sort can top this.

    Cucumber is the perfect replacement for wood at this scale, it allows for the realism of a real logging mill, without taking days and burning out motors

    How long did it take to process one log? The footage at places seems sped up quite considerably so I can imagine it would have taken a while.

      You are right, it takes time to cut the cucumber and not to break the tiny saw. You may see that the saw has only one end attached to the lego push mechanism, the other end is in the air. Actual time is about 2.5 minutes for both sides. I had to use 2 motors and slip gear to manage slow speed for sawing and fast for changing position. Thanks for the questiion.

      Would also like to know! I do however assume that it is manually controlled as it looks like the machine is "touching up" some minor mistakes in a few places of the video. And it would probably take a lot longer to program it to do all of this than to control it manually, if it's purpose only is to be used for a video.
      Must say that no matter if it is programed or not I enjoyed watching this master piece! :D

    Thank you for creating smile on my face this morning at first - and my jaw on the floor a moment later. The precision of the machine is great - and even the speed. I have built some LEGO machines and I know how hard is to get a reasonable speed and precision, limited by the motor power and not so rigid lego pieces joints. I must say, I'd really appreciate a "behind scenes video" of this one! About the crane construction etc. It'd be a great learning material!

    About how many 5 by 7 frames do you use in a build like this? 500? 1000? 2000?
    This channel has been a great inspiration for me in my lego building but the cost of parts has held me back from making anything on a large scale. Do you have recommendations of where I can buy lots of these frames without spending a fortune?

      Good question. I was lucky with the sponsorship a few years ago. I did not count the numbers, but almost run out.

    How long did it take you to build? And how many pieces roughly? Has to be quite a long time and thousands of pieces!

      Would be a nightmare trying to get the accuracy needed while using only LEGO motors and Mindstorms logic 😱 That's a big arm with significant slack, dealing with inconsistent parameters and poor sensor resolution...
      Not saying it can't be done, but it's definitely a vastly more complex build 😬
      The error correction software needed to counter the relatively poor fit and low rigidity of Lego Technics would itself be a huge undertaking 😅

    I’m very impressed with the automated processing of the cucumbers to make the house parts. Planning this must have been a lot of work.
    Am I right thinking that the assembly of the house was manual controlled? There are a few adjustments of the position of the grabber when putting in the drift pins for example and also pushing down the roof at one end that seem to indicate this?

      You're correct. They said in another comment that is was manual, not programmed. It would need a pretty complex vision system to be automated, I would think.

      Automation will be a unique project on its own, it will require different motors as Lego PF motors do not have any sensors .

    Amazing job!! I saw in a comment below that it was manually operated by you. Next step would be to add sensors and a small cpu, and implement an automatic mode. Not sure how realistic that is though considering you're working with lego and cucumbers haha

      I'm pretty sure it's remote controlled with multiple BuWiz units.

      Yes, it is remotely controlled 7 BuWizz bricks. These are normal PF Lego motors, no intelligence.

      @@thomashuber8130 it is so easy to control the arm, it took some practice and the power and weight (it is very tall arm with 3 motors and a battery) of the arm could easily push the pin inside without a predrill holes. Thanks for asking

    is this guy serious? How positively brilliant do you have to be to have the know-how to do this?! Not only from a lego building standpoint but to also split the "logs" perfectly and to size and make everything fit and the construction knowledge to keep everything together. Wow, just wow.
