weird that I ran into this video,,, I am from louisa and fish Yatesville every weekend. Seen you all idling out and I said damn that place looks familiar.....lol
I sold my Ranger 519DVS in 2018 and I am itching to buy another boat. I have been looking seriously at Nitro's. They seem to be a good value. Very nice rig.
This isn’t my boat, but it’s my best friends. He’s owned two z21 boats and the first one wasn’t so great on the fit and finish aspects, but that’s when they were a brand new series. His newest one hasn’t had any issues whatsoever. However, many people are having trouble with the trailers lately. Other than that, they are a great boat.
Hookn on the Weekends I’m using a Canon g7x Mark II for most of the video. Action shots are from a GoPro Hero 8 black on a yolotek powerstick 53. I love the g7x, but the only downfall is there isn’t any external audio connections. The new g9x I believe does.
Charlie Carter you’re right. Luckily we didn’t encounter any accidents. I’m too much of a hurry to get the boat out. I can’t say we wear them 100% of them time now because of this video, so we will go with 99.9%.
Houston Johnson I can be as honest as anyone because I don’t own one. As a co-angler for many big tournaments, I have ridden in just about all of them. While they all have things different than others, most new boats are about the same. However, if I were to buy a new boat I would definitely look into a z21. Kyle, the guy who owns this one, is my best friend and have fished out of all three that he’s owned over the years. The front deck is huge! It has a lot of storage and some features that I’m not sure all boats have. His has a fan feature that circulates air in all the compartments follows allow for fresh air to circulate to reduce mildew and dampness. Others could have that, I’m not sure. They come on plane quick and ride well in big water. They are not the speediest out there, but with a full tournament load you can get 70+ with a 250. The net storage they have integrated into the space behind the seats is ingenious. Live wells work great and are very deep. To play devil’s advocate, his previous nitro z21 was a 2015 which I believe was the first year of the z series. There were some fit and finish issues we ran across like stripped screws, bolts and screws totally missing, etc. his 2019 in this video doesn’t have the same issues that we can tell. If you’re looking for a boat, you owe it to yourself to take a ride in a Z series nitro.
you're 100% correct. Should have had it connected and that's our bad. He uses it religiously, but this goes to show that it's an oversight that can easily be done. Thanks for watching!
Question... I've always had Stratos or Triton but am considering a 2021 Nitro Z20. My concern is all the negative talk about Nitro boats. That they are "throw away POS boats" or "the first home of bass boats". I've heard about carpet or seats that tear apart, trailers that break down or cracked hulls. Are these just Nitro haters, and if so, why? Is there reason for concern? And, what dealers are around here?
First let me start off by saying that I am 100% unbiased when it comes to this answer because I have a Stratos. That’s my buddies boat that I get to ride in often, so I can give you an idea of what his experience is. He’s owned three nitro boats. A Z9, a 2015 z21 (pretty sure that was the first year of the z21), and now this 2020 z21. The z9 was a rock solid boat. The only issue he had from it was a lower unit problem. Wasn’t Mercury’s fault either. We went fishing in SC and came home to snow and ice. Lower unit seal had worn out and the water in the case froze and busted. His first z21, however, I didn’t feel like fit the $65,000 price tag. The fit and finish of the boat was off in places that it felt like it was a “Friday at 5 o’ clock boat.” Someone had put it together right before the end of a shift. Could have been due to the first year of that model and they were getting the kinks worked out. The net holder behind the seats was one of the issues. The screws holding it down were stripped from the factory, he had to replace a seat because some metal bent on it causing it to look like a lounge chair (nitro has since redesigned seat), and he had a wire running from the gauges that was ran across between the top of his gas tank and seat which caused it to cut and short out. (Took forever to find that problem) The new one has been great. The fit and finish on this boat is very good. Net holder screws and such are in place and the boat has been solid. He’s never had a problem with the fiberglass, carpet, or trailers Other than general stuff like tires and a bearing or two. All of his boats have been garage kept, so I’m sure that makes a difference with carpet and seats ripping. Which, by the way, he’s never had happen either. My honest opinion is that they are a great boat for the price point. They are one of the cheapest (relative term) on the market at the moment, so that does come with some degree of expectations. The best fit and finish I’ve seen in any boat recently is from a Caymas. Then again, you’re stepping up to 75-80k at that. Top three boats I would look at if I were buying would be Caymas, Nitro, and Phoenix. Dealerships that sell nitro in my area (southern Ohio) Freedom Outdoors in Portsmouth, Ohio or their other stores in st. Mary’s, Ohio and Indy. The great outdoors in lavalette, WV sells them too. If you want to compare to a Phoenix, stop by Malone’s marine in Ironton, Ohio (Chris also sells bass cat and bullet).
That's definitely something that I have noticed with all of the 4-stroke Mercs is that it seems like it takes them forever to start. However, I will say, that I've heard them all do it. Well, all the ones I have heard are all about the same timeframe to finally start. May have something to do with the fuel injection. IDK.

When I buy a new one, you can bet your rear that I’ll be checking out nitro. I’ve ridden in a ton of boats and they are nice as any out there.
Sweet boat!

I appreciate it!
I’m thinking of buying a Nitro. Have you had any issues?

You guys launch out of Nelson hollow? Looking on google earth looks like it.
CrankinBass we launched out of the the main ramp at Yatesville.
I like the song in the intro, is it on iTunes?
It should be. It’s Lance Carpenter - another line

That was a great looking boat but why didn't you have your LIFE JACKET on when running the outboard motor? think about it

Is there some sort of tactical advantage to all that glittery paint or something?? Not sure why all these fancy boats are painted that way...
It catches more fisherman lol
I don’t think so but it sure does look pretty
Let's go everybody... smash that 👍☝️ Gorgeous boat WOW!!!
In the market for a new boat I want an honest opinion of the nitro.

@@OnAnotherLine What's the fastest bass boat that you've been in? I love the idea of a 100mph tournament boat.
Price?
Edward Wacasey he got a great deal on it because it was a demo. I can’t speak for exact price, but it was in the 50’s
That Nitro is sweet! He needs to engage his kill switch. Shit happens, better safe than sorry!
you're 100% correct. Should have had it connected and that's our bad. He uses it religiously, but this goes to show that it's an oversight that can easily be done. Thanks for watching!
If its your first launch dont you guys have to break it in?
It was a demo boat. It was our first launch, but the boat had roughly 100 hours on it.

I like the color but that red is a little too bright for me
I was scared that Merc wasn't going to crank;;;;;;
