NT's always get the empathy thing wrong. We def know what/how others think but we have no idea what response they consider socially appropriate/nor do we care to figure it out. We can certainly ID social deviants like sociopaths while all of the NT's love them bc they provide the voice tones, facial expressions they love. We can sense underlying motivations and react to that, but not the socially acceptable reactions NT's prefer.
Diet can help gastrointestinal issues. Get rid of vegetables oils and use animal fats like butter and tallow. Kefir is great but take it slow to get used to it.
I think you would have to say Homo Erectus in and around Java had the "if-then" pattern recognition because they made jagged edge harpoon type spears. Also, I think you would have to say Neanderthals had the "if-then" pattern recognition because they made that type of glue using fire to haft onto their spears. What about that ?
I think your work and this presentation are excellent. However, I would like to see you address within your framework (1.) the double empathy problem; and (2.) the vastly different versions of language used by Autistic people versus Neurotypical people (e.g., see the research on BDU units).
The bone flute might not have anything to do w/ human empathy - it could have been an animal calling tool. I'm not saying at some point it wasn't coopted and adapted for music.
how true as if they are recognized for their strengths which normally is focused in one area of obsession , can be used to create an opportunity in employment ie like behind the scenes . Assembling a robot perhaps which may take hours for a typical child may be a breeze for an autistic child
How does autism relate to behavior? A group of people that is aware of its own behavior can also behave different. And how would the world look like with everyone autistic. (or Down) I consider myself as non violent and concerned with justice. How about wanted/unwanted behavior. Are there autistic murderers, politicians, criminals, musicians, philosophers, heroes or saints. How about statistics on autism and behavior. Will there come a time where autism will be a popular skill on your CV?
I did the AQ and SQ tests after watching this video and found them somewhat problematic. For example, one question was "Do you enjoy chit chat?". How many men, regardless of where they are on the spectrum are going to answer "Yes!"? Chit chat is seen as something women do and is slightly pejorative. In the SQ test, many questions related to mechanical topics; cars, machines, cameras, computers but comparatively few to systems or patterns in other areas. The tests no doubt are useful, but they struck me as singing to the choir, so to speak.
An interesting point of view. I for one do not see any such connotations with chitchat. I also wouldn't deny enjoying something simply because I think women do it. Maybe they checked if the item was valid and they found the question is okay for most people
I really enjoyed this lecture but it is not true that cave painting emerged 30k years ago, detailed cave art was discovered in Indonesia dated about 70k years ago. The problem with positing some mutation that changed our brains is that it takes the absence of evidence as evidence of absence. Human beings living 150k years ago may have had art jewellry etc but none of it may have survived the passage of time. I would be shocked if no human beings in the 120k y,ears we were living in Africa invented a musical instrument.
why do you explain patterns and not someone with autism? and why do you call them pattern seeker, when you are the only seeker? you cant see it and you never will. so what are you doing with autistic people by doing that?
Thank you for publishing on TH-cam and make it available for all 👍
Fantastic! Thank you!
I bought this book some time ago but haven't had a chance to read it yet. My daughter has grabbed it first! 🙂

Empathy is not the same as sympathy. We can imagen pain in another person and still continue to hurt one. Plenty of examples in this world.
Why does it have only ~170 upvotes?

Then it started with animal empathy. And humans are also kind of animals some of them for sure 😅😅

Maybe you should take some medication.
