Sky, I don't think your previous map videos had any fluff. They were incredibly useful and substantive. In fact, the extreme depth you went into is what differentiated you from the other OW channels IMO. This is a great video but I would have loved more detail, especially on how to attack point A. My team has a lot of problems with that specifically. Speaking just for us, we need all the knowledge you can give us, so don't hold back!
pCeLobster Yes, I would especially like more information on how to counter the Rein, Symmetra, Bastion and Mercy setup that is very popular and difficult to beat in lower ranks (at least around 2000 sr).
I missed the arrows! (sadface) But great job again, this is my favourite Overwatch tutorial series and hopefully I'll be able to stop running around like a headless chicken...
Sky, I'll second what most everyone else has said: You're videos are incredible, and we love you because of your in-depth analysis that we can't get at any other OW channel. You're spot on, and have helped me become a much better, smarter player. Thank you!
personally I really liked your thorough way of explaining every detail in your map guides. it's what made them unique and in my opinion better than the rest. maybe that's just personal tho, I still learned a lot!
I love the hero-specific tips like how you pointed out a great Junkrat spot here and a couple awesome Mei tips for Hanamura. Now when I pick up a new hero, I can at least know where to be.
Please tell me you're doing more of these for the newest maps. You are the ONLY one who has put effort into creating the best in-depth map analysis and I massively appreciate that! I love tactics and strategies so while everyone else creates quick 5-10 mins on basic shit you already know - here you are, creating top tier valuable content
"I tried to cut out a lot of the fluff..." *Rewatches the pew pew war* Did you really, Sky? ;) Jokes aside, I love the content and I want as much in-depth information as possible! I definitely don't mind longer videos! But if you want to appease both crowds you could have a general guide at the beginning and then have more details and in-depth information at the end for those who crave more (or simply have another "outtakes" video with "you didn't make the cut"-details.) I don't know if that would be better but then again, if I knew everything I wouldn't be here. =)
Rather than fluff, this video just feels faster. There's less joking around and time wasting. I don't know how to describe it, but basically there was no slow parts while I still got all the information I wanted and more.
Maining Pharah, one of my favorite things to do when attaching point A is concussive the wall to the left of where the enemy team is defending. You can aim it right over and Behind a Reinhardt barrier, and as it tends to knock lighter supports a bit further than tanks very frequently it will knock down the enemy Ana or even a road hog, turning the fight into an instant 6v5/4 if your team reacts quickly. Makes pushing through that area so much easier.
Any chance of including examples? I guess you might not have the footage and it'd make things a bit longer, but it might be handy to say 'defend here, do this' followed by either 'here's some pro team doing it right' or 'here's some noob team doing it wrong.' Just short sections showing various setups.
I knew torb was great for the first point but always felt pressure to switch for the payload section. Thanks for confirming I'm not crazy for having success with him on points 2 and 3. Lol
The funny thing about map guides is that sometimes it turns into 'the sharpest spear vs the hardest shield'. 'this flank is the best' 'this position blocks that flank the best' 'if they defend from that position just sneak up here'
Great vid! Enlightened me about Symmetra and Torb. i think you did drop off too many details. like I felt like there's more that you could've said. On attack & on the last point in defence
Do you think you could do a sort of followup video to your strategy and tactics video on what both a solo queuer and premade can do to combat various team compositions or even specific heroes? I just think it'd be useful for us to know what types of strategies we should make up when going into games (Ex: If divecomp, go x hero, position here, if deathball, go x hero, position here, etc.)
nice one skyline, more details would be good. even your "fluffy" points are insightful, i would keep them in and add them whenever you see fit. i dont think you can go overboard with them
As Symmetra, repeatedly asking one of my teammates to help me take control of that top room on the last point (when they have it), only to be ignored. Damn I'm tired of being right.
The best way I found to get this first point with my friends was: Rein + Ana + Soldier do the left route getting the attention of the enemyes And when the enemy notice those 3, other 3 will come pushing from the main way, they would be Pharah, Mercy, Winston. This setup is hard to make to work, but with the coordination that we get after trying it sometimes, it became almost flawless because noone never expect an 3/3 split push
The way you state it, it seems like Symmetra should be quite strong pick throughout this map? have her sure-up point A to counter flankers; Have her hold down the fashion shop upstairs to block enemy from getting highground, then hold down the final-point upper flank to stop enemy from highground. Would this be a correct assumption, that Sym would be a good defense pick even for the two payload sections?
I think Torb is actually a stronger pick for point A defense. That said if you are sure that the enemy is going to run deathball no matter what Symmetra becomes stupidly strong thanks to TP and the fact that you can jump down straight onto their supports on point A. As for the other two sections, I think Sym can be good on the last point but you really want a Roadhog for that second phase. Since the defense is so ill favored its not really feasible to expect to hold out indefinitely, so you are going to want a character who can pop off and get a clutch multikilll to delay the attackers. The other thing to think about is that while Sym can deny that high ground spot, she can't really stop anyone from running past her around the back, nor can she deal with a pharah efficiently.
if you're not good at roadhog or the builders, what other "lurker" heroes do you suggest? my first thought is Dva but she wouldn't be able to contibute to the main fight without constantly goin in and out of the lurker position, unlike the others who can hook/shoot from where they are.
So what I've understood is that there are many approaches to attacking point A on Numbany. Is there a way that is definitively better/worse than others?
Hi. Often times you are talking about optimal heros on the map and things like "if you take roadhog". So I wonder, what is your opinion on how big your hero pull should be?. I mean, you need to chose between learning few heros very well, or just having experience with many heros and always have a good hero to switch to in any situation. Some people say that you just can't know more than 4-5 heros on decent level, since you need to play all of them constantly. What do you think about it?
not a profi its just my opinion but I think everyone should learn every hero. you never know what you might need. but constantly switching isnt the best idea. I try to split my time between 4-5 most of the time but learning the others is important. best way to know how to counter heroes is by playing them and seeing what you just cant deal with.
So one thing I never really understand is, in matchmaking should a team really defend a point the same way the pros do it in tournaments? I mean since it's not a pro team attacking you, should you really do the whole defense where all 6 of you are in the one spot on the high ground above the point? What comes to mind is the way the pros stand on the high ground above the first point on volskaya. Is that really better to do in matchmaking than standing in front of the choke the way most people do?
While you went into the nuance of defending on Numbani pretty well, the offensive spot was sorely lacking. I don't think there was any fluff on the last few videos. Also, why didn't you talk about the section on the left side of the last point defense?
One of the things that irritates me about Numbani is the lack of aesthetic variance between checkpoints. It's a very minor thing, but a game that hinges so much on elements outside of the gameplay should be able to nail something like this.
I disagree with your analysis of playing split on first point. Ana and soldier are really strong holding up there against everything but dive, and sight lines are so long on numbani that there's no reason for dive to be able to get to you without being spotted out. If you spot dive you can normally get to right highground without a problem, and the position gives such an advantage against phrara or singles of other flankers that I think it's a necessity
Realthx having ana and soldier on that high ground can be very valuable indeed but the amount of times that i just ran dive comp on offence, killed the soldier and then got a free win is just too many to take the risk imo
Is is really a risk when soldier can simply sit on the corner, scout out the dive comp and run back to high ground with the ana? Positioning is pretty flexable when you have such a big warning that dive is coming.
Realthx I think running a Winston+Dva with Soldier+Ana is the key. Without them it can actually be hard to get out of the way (even if you see the dive coming) since the attackers have multiple angles to dive from. Normal deathball can work but not that well. Thats why pros usually run dive on both sides
Dude your Channel is criminally underrated. Don't agree with every point you make but overall your Quality is dope as fuck. Keep it up.
now this. this is an example of a perfect comment. kudos

My opinion, make the video as long as it needs to be, don't cut things out to make it shorter, it's a mastery guide.
Great vid again sky, keep it up!
personally I really liked your thorough way of explaining every detail in your map guides. it's what made them unique and in my opinion better than the rest. maybe that's just personal tho, I still learned a lot!
"...and they just pew pew pew you." i died
Jokujou "..Peew pew pew War.."
Jokujou "and then you can have pew-pew war, ya know?" No Skyline I really dont, do you? XD
I love the hero-specific tips like how you pointed out a great Junkrat spot here and a couple awesome Mei tips for Hanamura. Now when I pick up a new hero, I can at least know where to be.
today i finally hit diamond and sky ur videos helped me so much im rly gratefull thx
Adrian Willi same here!

So far the two map guide videos of yours that I've seen have been awesome. Definitely going to check out the rest of your channel and subscribe

having these series watched simply needs to be a requirement for even queueing into comp
been waiting for this video :) love your map mastery videos!

Great job Sky! Good video!

"you just have a pew pew pew war, you know?" is some top-level overwatch strategy
stay positive...i like that. you did no fluff! good.
Hi Skyline! Your videos are great! You are a great teacher! May I know how I can roam freely around the map like you do? Is this an in-game feature?
are we going to get a junkertown and horizon map guide soon? I love these

Axiom and Vishkar stocks are up. That's what I learned.
Which software uses to trace the lines on the video? Awesome guide!
what drawing software do you use? Great video.

Hey skyline can you do a vod review on a team called vivi's adventure that is playing in the overwatch pit tournament? Thanks for your great channel!

God videos like this are so helpful!!!!
What software are you using for taht drawing?:)
Thank you! I doing also guides for OW and this tool is really what i was looking for.
Well, you can always place the fluff at the end of the video. You know after you are done with the more important stuff.
Sky I'm a new sub just wondering who do you main
Skyline you the real MVP
So what I've understood is that there are many approaches to attacking point A on Numbany. Is there a way that is definitively better/worse than others?
Dude i love ur videos

Antony Gregory, thanks for the opinion. Basically you are agree that hero pull should be limited to 4-5 heros.
not a profi 4-5 at any one time.
but learn as many as you can.
hi skyline! i sent you a play pharah clip but you didnt respond. did you miss it or do u just have too many to do them all?
no problem m8! take your time, you must have tens of those videos piling up. have a nice day dude, i love your videos.
MOAR details... always...
You could use map guide like this one and use as exemple a Pro match. That would be great for us to see how it really work.
Watch at 1,5 speed, for the quick guide! (between matches)
Super Ultra Problem Land
sounds like my life lol

Yes "pro positions" take into account any and all weirdness. Otherwise pro attackers would just do weird things and win.
I liked previous music at the end more
arofilm same
Nice video, but, quite often on the first point in solo queue, teams defend just a bit beyond the spawn. It's pretty sucky, yet, very common.
Numbani is so hard. My friend told me that this is Junkrat's best map, but I can never win, even with Junkrat.
Hey Skyline, does your discord welcome console users?
maybe have a second video with the fluff for people who want it
FINALLY
where can i apply the vod series?
does anybody know what program he was using to write on his screen?
Defend in the bushes

"Great Hooks" (^_^)b
- Sky 2017
"pew pew pew you"
Overwatch should be renamed to 'Pewpew Wars'
someone have seen dat in 1:07 xdd
Pew pew war lol
Please Skyline.
Use another tool for drawing,
A tool that doesn't require a Alt+Tab :(
Try Zoomit
Skyline ill find a solution and let you know
More fluff, some examples, and some actual hero-based rather than free cam movement would be appreciated. Great video still :)
first
Besides Skyline himself of course
You could use map guide like this one and use as exemple a Pro match. That would be great for us to see how it really work.
where can i apply the vod series?
