When Rob was mentioning comics, I always wondered what it would it be like if he took ideas from his unmade films. Like Tyrannosaurus Rex, or The Blob, or the original script for “3 From Hell” with Captain Spaulding.
I may not always like the movies he makes, but from what I've gathered about Rob Zombie from interviews it really seems like he "gets it," like he understands the spirit of horror and genre movies in general. At least from my personal perspective that's how I see it. Couldn't say the same about many working today so on that count alone I grant him a permanent "pass," though of course he doesn't need it. (Violently negative comment about filmmakers who don't get "the spirit" deleted) Zombie's view on CGI is the correct one to have. Code monkeys are not film makers. Enough with the cartoon hordes and action without danger.
