Apologies for the re-upload. TH-cam's content ID system and DMCA as a whole continues to be the bane of my existence, deciding not to do its content match while it was private and waiting until the video was already out for 30 minutes to trigger demonetisation :). Anyway Mike thought that this race to world first was so epic, so close, the players on Echo and Liquid were playing their absolute best, he felt he just had to document the amazing journey.
@@Scottistic It was just a piece of music used in Echo's T Swift video which they had licensed evidently. Just had to switch the audio out for the stream version of the kill. - Chris
The best recap of the raid I have seen so far. gave me a lump in my throat just watching this. The music and story telling on point as always our lord preach.
As Star Augur Etraeus says within the Nighthold Raid: "The stars align! Fear their portents" I was watching Echo stream on the kill pull, and oh my lord, what a moment ❤️
I’m a Liquid fan, but there’s no denying how amazing this race was. Had drama in the best way, Blizzard manager to not fuck everyone over, and it came down to a 0.07% diff nailbiter. Couldn’t ask for more
I quit during the Shadowlands and moved on to diffrent things, but nothing will ever fill me with that much joy, pride and awe as raids and the eruption of screams when ever a boss is killed will always give me goosebumps, even if I'm just watching
Even as a mediocre raider in Vanilla and BC (pushing for server firsts but never quite getting one), the screams of joy over voice chat as we downed a boss we'd been working on for ages were just amazing. Definitely the fondest moments of my gaming history, the peak of excitement and camaraderie - decades later I can still feel it.
I love Scripes reaction to the kill banging on that table to then slam hes headset down completely destroying it. Later he posted a pic on how he hade taped the thing back together again before he could get a new pair.
Great video. I watched nearly the entire race from 7th boss onwards and was cheering for Echo the whole way - really glad they got over the line first! Also, Clickz walking across the screen is very pleasing at 16:22. :D
I root for Liquid just because I'm here in NA and catch their streams the most, but I loved watching both the different streams! The caster teams for both races were so good how could you not enjoy yourself. I really appreciated how much less "NA vs EU" weird toxic stuff was going on in both channels. They were both quick to snuff it out and it made for a much more enjoyable race. Great content all around.
1) Preach just makes absolutely outstanding videos. Editing, narrating, everything. Thank you for these. 2) Seeing everyone in Echo just explode with excitment on winning. It just makes me so happy. I love seeing that. Congrats again and on to the next one.
This man can tell a story, I mean from start to finish I was excited, I’m not a die hard world of Warcraft player, I’ve played casually since 2006. I haven’t played at all this expansion. But listening to Preach tell this story of world first I was excited and wanted to go back and watch the race myself. The voice the knowledge the research amazing keep it up
I watched the whole race, and this was an appropriately dramatic recap. I haven't played WoW in many years, but I still catch every race, and this one was the most exciting I've seen in a long time. I went to bed nervous every night at the end, and I was so happy to see the finish live. Still, I probably wouldn't be half as interested if it wasn't for the entire Echo team. You guys really know how to put on a show.
even tho o toke a big break from wow after the release of this expantion. i am glade i came back before this raid. watching this in twitch was a treat. and even more this 30 min preach video like the old days. what a great come back to wow for the last 4 months.
I used to love watching stuff like this. Now it just reminds me of my guild and what I thought was my friend group fall apart. Thanks for letting me live in the nostalgia for a bit there Mike.
I still can't tell how many times i've died in this race. It was outstanding, amazing, beyond everything ever seen in 20 years of WoW. It will be hard to match something like this again.
Havent watched your vids in a while but i got to say first thing i noticed was you look very healthy and good my man ! Also Awesome video, excellent Storytelling, even though i dont play wow anymore i enjoyed watching and listening :)
I remember watching thisnlive with my friend next to me. I thing i chew so much nails that day and when fyrakk passed away to death we jumped and screamed like we were 10 years old at a roblox meetup. Good times
One of your best vids Preach. I loved this race. I am NA but like both teams a lot and majority of players. (some players on each team come off as complete assholes). This was one of if not the best races ive ever seen. I wish there was some way some how we could get this mainstreamed worldwide, and put on espn like ive seen other games do. Compared to other games i can say with confidence that WoW top end players are the best video gamers in the entire world and its not even close. Not any other game can compare to skill and coordination effort and stamina needed to succeed.
What a race it was, I watched most of Echo and you and the other casters are also a big reason to why I choose echo to watch. Thanks preach and casters! I had both streams open when echo killed it, what a moment
Amirdrassil is one of the best gaming experiences I've had in the last few years. T-Swift + Dragonriding is so incredible. I cannot wait to see what the team cooks up for The War Within.
I was lucky to be able to watch the kill live, and while I wanted Liquid to win, it was truly a wonderful showing from both teams as well as Blizzard in the tuning and design of the encounter. If this expansion was meant to be the transition from the mess we've been in with the prior expansions into this new era, then this race was the perfect way to close out this expansion.
I don't know the name of the song that was playing during the kill but my god it it was the perfect song for that moment. Goosebumps everytime i watch it
I was thankful to have 3 screens so I was able to watch both streams toward the end. It was so intense and so fun to watch. Great recap, Preach. I hope more RWFs end up like this. As someone who has been playing since classic and raiding at various difficulties since BC, I love how watching the race has become an event.
I quit WoW years ago and have recently come back but my goodness Preach, you're looking great! You've clearly lost a lot of weight and your hair has climbed back lol!
I think this is going to happen more often as Blizzard continues to hotfix during race to world first. The biggest killers were when bosses were changed massively on reset day, causing easy finishes. Now they can be changed quickly and before either team has progressed too far to one-shot it post-nerf.
Incredible viedo of an epic journey. this it what make this game even after all the years Masterfull to see Big thanks to Preach and the team for a video that gave me goosebumps. And indeed what a Race!
Enjoyable story and excellent storytelling. It got amusing when halfway through I started to think, "Why is this such a big deal? It's WoW and an essentially fleeting title that no one will care about the next time a raid is released." And then I paused and thought, damn I think I'm old now... That said, something about it bothers me that programming and addons are part of the race. It's as much who can program as play the game as intended. But that's also the reason I stopped playing wow not long after BC. That and the complete lack of story and shitting all over Warcraft 1-3. But another story.
Wonderful Video my man, awesome Story in this Race! One point here tho, didn't Liquid win in Castla Nathria on the day of the reset for NA or am i misremembering?
It generally seems like Liquid and Echo are friendly with each other. It became less about a rivalry and more about how they're in agreement that everyone wins because they make a lot of money, get a lot of views, and both know that they're world first raiders and the viewers are just lowlife unskilled peasants. Takes the whole fun out of it. At least with Paragon it was exciting because every big guild hated them so there was a passionate rivalry that made the race more exciting.
Kinda takes me out of it seeing all the behind the scenes prep that goes into this....having out of raid raid leaders, strategy makers, and all the rest takes away the thing that makes it really feel special: Competition. Makes me think that's a big reason why Method is the clear #3 despite having an almost completely new raid team and if that is the secret sauce, I wish more guilds had the ability to do it.
All the things you listed are just as much part of the competition though. The only alternative is to make the raid easier which I can't imagine anybody at the top level wants
Yes...that's why I listed them.... It's impossible to pretend these are the "best of the best" when they also have the benefit of doing this without losing income and having money to throw at these small advantages (money and also the shady stuff with gold selling/buying that people don't like to talk about)
@@Taalanos without loosing income? Most of the players have other jobs and take time off for the race xD Sure if you're a big sreamer like scripe, gingi and so on, that might be your job. But the rest, not so much. They do get paid from the race, but most of the sponsor money for the race is used to pay for the event itself. Location, hotels, travel, pay for casters, food and everything else. No team can afford to fully ay their whole roster from wow stuff alone.
There will come a time where the boss will die at the exact same time as each other and it will come to frames and not percentage that decides the winner.
We have Race to world first races but Where is the Belt of trophy Blizzard? Also 1 week till mythic starts on the 18th and its gunna be fun to watch hopefully.
