- When we say “Authentic” Indian food, we refer to traditional food from India, although our dual island nation of Trinidad & Tobago has a percentage of it's population with Indian ancestry, we basically caribbean-fi food or made it our own thing as certain spices and ingredients were not readily available back in the days,
So Trinibagonian “Indian” food normally refers to the food you get at a Hindu prayers/religious function, anywho over the years, chefs from Indian were brought down and resultants featured in this one began opening throughout Trinidad & Tobago, so in this one, we tried the same dishes from 2 restaurants in south Trinidad
So join us my Trinbago Vibes peeps as we explore some Tikka Masala awesomeness in Duncan Village and San Fernando, we dine in and we also did the take out

This video is commendable. I moved to the United States, where I was employed by a company and faced discrimination for a duration of five years. Ultimately, I returned to my home country of Trinidad and Tobago and was assigned to work in Barbados. To my astonishment, I encountered discrimination from the local population due to my nationality. The situation became so intolerable that I chose to terminate my contract in Barbados and return to Trinidad. This experience has deepened my appreciation for Trinidad and Tobago, the homeland.❤ And the food is the best in T&T.
Im truly sorry you faced all that discrimination, even here unfortunately there are instances of that as a result of colonialism, but overall there is truly no place like home here in T&T
My son and I watch your vlogs here from Canada. We plan on eventually getting a place to stay 6 months of the year. Your videos really help us with what life is like there! Appreciate your content. Keep it up
You’re most welcome 😁
The best vegetarian Indian food I have eaten is from Garam Masala Restaurant in Central, followed by Namaste India (that's the Indian restaurant located on the compound of Lakshmi Narayan temple in Freeport)
Agree with you the council does and we did videos on both spots, but PalKi’s food is a winner, for the non vegetarian route
Palkis food more authentic Indian for me
@ ihu, vI honestly judge other authentic Indian food based on Palki’s
7:51 definitely called a Gulab Jamun, I don't see these dough balls being labelled as anything else at the places I usually dine.
Nice, I think our ancestors mixed up the name of a few things and well we went forward with those names, lol
Hi Rajeev, you should try Red Chili in Munroe Road they also have a Buffet special on a Sunday too
@@sabitabissoondial3362 ohh nice, will try them out the second rounds

@@TrinbagoVibes need to do other items, we fed up of all these social media doubles reviews
Hey it is Todd Street in San Fernando. Todd's Road is in Central Trinidad.
Ohh, I didn’t even realize it said road and not street 🤦🏽♂️ and I literally grew up along there
@TrinbagoVibes Easy to slip when talking without a script.
Aye breds... looks like I'll have to make a trip down south next rounds man. Big up! 👊
Whoa bro and yeah 👊🏽
Nice would try
🙌🏽🙌🏽

Rajeev Bhai.......you eat very well......👍👍....good evening from india .....🙏🙏
lol, much appreciated 🙏🏽
Food looks delicious 😋
That it was 😁
Do a Thai food review please
That’s a great idea, I’ll look into it soon
I dine in at Palkis Chaguanas a few times. Some staff not friendly. My stuff paneer pakora one came with a triangle missing don't know if the waitress ate it😂
Ohhh no!! I feel she did 🤣…Somehow the one is central looks rundown, south is the standard they should stick with
@TrinbagoVibes 😂. I will have to visit south soon. I'm from central.
I but MARSALA CHAI TEA IN NEW YORK. FROM INDIA. I LOVE IT
A proper Masala chai will just make you forget the troubles of the world
Tikka Massalla is a British dish made by an Indian Scotsman! 😂
That’s the modern version but it’ll still debatable, but then again Britain has a history of claiming other peeps things as their own 👀
@@TrinbagoVibesHe was an Indian immigrant living in Scotland, No one’s trying to steal a cuisine 😂. You said the restaurant was an ‘Authentic South Indian cuisines’.
The empire did lots of bad things which I completely take on board but Tikka Massala is a British Indian dish. 👊🏼
@@TrinbagoVibesps, if anyone’s stealing, what are doubles? 😂
@@matthewberry6158 meant south Trinidad, not South Indian, as the inspiration for Tikka Masala was taken from a dish in North India, according to some articles online, hence debatable…as for doubles, well that happened in Princes Town, by a small shop selling basically flat fried bake and channa (they had other stuff to go with it as well) and peeps keep asking for a second fried bake: “ah wah ah Doubles” hence the term…while they maybe something similar back in India, this is where the terminology originated
@@TrinbagoVibesand you don’t see the similarity between the development of curried ‘channa’ flat bread (originally chole bhature) and the development of chicken tikka masalla in British food? Both dishes grew from Indian cuisine. Don’t be anti British mate.
I LOVE PAKORA
Yup, it’s much better than wontons in my opinion 🙌🏽🙌🏽
lol sure lets start off with tea
That’s how brave we are, lol
Try Lambodar in Debe if u get d chance! INCREDIBLE!
Ohhh, never heard of them before…will do next rounds
Apsara food was good service not so much
Ihu with the service , that’s most unfortunate
U r
👀
I know that as rasgula and gulab jamoon is "fat kurma."
Yup, same here
Effects of time and places happens........ rasgulla is mostly white in colour or any other light colour.....but gulab jamun is always or mostly brown or black in colour.......hi......I am from India.....land of yr ancestors....😊
" fat kurma " is not gulab jamoon.... when indians came to Trinidad and Tobago 160 years ago it was called " khurma " with time passing it became kurma in TT . Now in most parts of North India its called " Sakkar para "
Yep that's what we know it as in Trini 🇹🇹
Palki good. Rasam is the boss. Apsara in pos used to have mainly north indian food, not as spicy.
Ohhh, guess it’s the same in south, but I’ve to try Rasams one of these days
