I remember this episode. It was perhaps the saddest Hoarders I’ve seen. Glen was so traumatized by the death of his wife that he felt like he couldn’t kill anything. This is why the rats were re-homed instead of just exterminated. Then he ends up getting murdered! So terribly sad 😢
There was a show called Confessions: Animal Hoarding and it was that in every episode. Made me cry each time and my dad convinced me to stop seeing it since I was still a kid.
they are pet rats though and pet rats are the most innocent sweet things ever, so why would anyone kill them? Plus he was responsible for them multiplying so much so the poor rattos shouldn't die because of this. Rats should never be alone, they get depressed af without some fellow rat friends, so pretty angry at the crew for this one.
I took a class called “death and dying” in college. Humor is a common and positive way to deal with grief and sad things. You’re not even making jokes about the dead person, so that’s a non-issue, because your jokes are often unrelated. Joking about uncomfortable or dark situations is completely normal and it’s one of the reasons we watch you. You lighten the mood. It’s comic relief in the face of very sad things and I for one love it. You do not crack too many jokes you crack just the right amount.
Humour played a part after my mothers death at home. When the nurses came out to call tod etc my dad, husband and I went into the bedroom to wait. We were chatting about something random and my dad said "lifes a bitch and then you die" at that exact moment the nurse walked into the room and heard dad say that, she stood in the doorway, holding my mothers wedding ring in shock. The look on her face sent my dad and I into a giggling fit which really didn't help the situation, even my husband went pale as my dad said to the nurse to give me the wedding ring cos he didn't want it (it wouldnt fit him and she had said it was for me). Now "lifes a bitch and then you die" has become an in joke that still after 4 years makes my dad and I break out into fits of giggles
Okay, but...Ken and Dane aren't the ones grieving. They're lightening the mood for themselves, not the person who's actually hurt. This isn't about them. I understand what you're trying to say, but I think it may be missing the point... I don't believe Ken and Dane actually mean genuine offense or harm, in any case. But they're joking about someone else's uncomfortable and dark situation, which might come off as insensitive to some people, is what I think some are saying, that's all. It's fair enough, I guess.
ok did you fail the class or did you just have to attend to pass? I like the jokes but its like let us actually take in the situation. you can always go back to the joke. like imagine you're talking to the "rat" guy in person and her suddenly bring up he wife's heart attack and you start laughing at his jackets. at least give sympathy first. My mom would set up the cage on the couch so they could run and my moms was potty trained, he never went on the couch. She would sleep on the couch with him occasionally and he would cuddle with her. It was a great experience.
I just lost my mom in February, I wasn't ready to lose her, I now hold onto little things that she would have liked, things she collected (little knick knacks, miniatures, etc) and I can totally see where the hoarding mindset comes from. You almost feel like a failure when you throw something away after you've thought of your loved one liking it. Edit: thanks for the likes and condolences 🙏 For those wondering, I am not struggling with hoarding or anything. I just understand the feeling, I know she's walking with Jesus and doesn't care about material earthly possessions anymore ❤️

As someone who has also had pet rats and would love some more again one day, this freaks even me out. But fun fact beyond being super intelligent they are actually very clean if you train them properly. They can actually be litter box trained!
I’m glad you guys covered this one! It was one of my favorite episodes growing up because glen had the same easy going personality as my grandad. Sadly glen passed in 2015 from an unsolved murder. He was a very kind hearted man who just never had the proper help. May you rest in paradise our rat king
I felt so much worse for Glen than I did for the 'Bunny man." Glen seemed like he was a legitimately sweet guy who was just in a bad spot. Bunny man? Yes, he was just Carl.
Ken your jokes are the best so keep making them. Morbid humor is funny and it’s not even morbid he’s just commenting on his observations and it’s funny
i 100% agree but i still feel really bad about some of the jokes they made towards glenn specifically, because hes unfortunately no longer with us. he was murdered in a home break in and the case is still unsloved. Kinda wished they looked up what happened to him after the events of the show and spread that information out there so more people know about glenns cold case. but regardless ur not wrong they arent really being morbid, in fact ken and dane are the most lighthearted people when it comes to making jokes about people imo which is why i love them :)
Rats are sort of a terrible rebound pet. They live 2 years. And they have *SO* much peronality that you'll bond hard with them and in turn die inside when it turns 2... ish.

Rats really are an addiction. They are like a tic tac, you can’t have just one. 🥰 I’ve owned around 10, and my far they were some of my favorite pets to care and play with. They are super smart, cuddly, and love attention and have their own little personalities. :3

Hi Ken, I submitted it to the Google Doc but there’s an episode of Hoarders where the dude is a jerk, yelling and swearing, while 20 people try and clear out his 12th floor NYC apartment. In summer. With no elevator. It’s bonkers
In my opinion, your jokes are perfectly fine. You're joking about the silliness and obsurdity of the situations, never at the tragic fates of the people themselves. Humor is a completely normal way of coping with uncomfortable events, dark humor is a thing for a reason 🥰
Super funny. They probably would not care about each other at all. Together that block would create a biological event we haven’t seen since the black plague….or Covid

He was sweet and I pray that his soul rests in peace and that the evil that ended him be brought to light. The therapist in this episode is my favorite hoarders psychiatrist. She is always kind to the people she works with and she was so kind to Glen. I remember at the end of the episode she adopted 2 of the rats.

I had a ferret for 10 years, and then I got my current ferret(Leela) a few months after the first(Roofus) had pasted away, about 5 years ago. They were/are both fixed and descended, and they are GREAT pets. I love my little weesle more than I like most people. They are litter trainable, but DO require training like a dog. Infact I trained both my ferrets like my dog and they were both awesome. Only nip when they're playing, sleep on my chest (they love it there!), she gives kisses like a dog... she even tries to clean my eye browns doing that weird mini-nibble thing lol.
The Secret of Nimh I love Dr. Zazio and Dorothy ( who isn't in this episode). They have the most soothing relaxing voices and could never sound angry when they are angry, even if you paid them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Comedy is a coping mechanism and is a great filter for grief. I am one of those people that laugh when I get into awkward situations, and I make jokes on my behalf or situation. For example if I were to be diagnosed with cancer I would probably laugh and say "of course" or probably tell people jokes about me dying because that's how I process shit
Rats are wonderful pets but they definitely need to get those rats out for their sake. Honestly I’m pretty disgusted that they picked up a rat by the rail because you should never do that! I feel really sorry for this man.
This is why mental healthcare is sooo important! Glen seemed like such a nice guy in a tough situation. Then to see in the comments that he was later murdered by people he was trying to help is just heartbreaking.

The movie Dane was talking about is Kung Pow, the kung fu comedy from the 2000s. The scene was a parody of the Wayne's World scene. It's the movie with scenes like when he reaches into the earth to pull out 2 gophers and use them as nunchucks, fighting a cow, and the many moments of intentionally bad lip syncing. If not that the other option is Kung Fu Hustle, the actual fighting movie that just happened to also be a comedy.

After cleaning a hoarders home, I get it. It’s hard to see it. I feel for him and his loss. I’m sorry for your loss as well. I hope that you’re able to heal as much as you’re able. Remember to focus on you and your health too.
My condolences 🙏.....
Oof maybe don't do that unless you have control seek help
I'm sorry for your loss, may your mother rest in peace! 🕊️
I'm sorry for your loss. Please take care and accept help through your heal9ng process
Rest in peace Glen this world was so cruel to you. I hope you're in a better place. Rest easy Glen
Maybe he reincarnated as a rat afterwards.
8:46 Your jokes and comments are not insensitive at all! Your channel is one I love coming to because I know I’ll consistently get some great commentary, jokes, Dane’s laugh and all the appropriate inappropriateness that I love. Not everyone shares the same sense of humor, but those who don’t can simply move on to the next video. PLEASE DONT CHANGE OR CATER TO THE FEW WHO COMPLAIN!! Love the content and your channel 🫶🏼
I think it is refreshing. My dad used humor to deal with tragedy and it helped my family. Keep doing what your doing. People will always find something to bitch about.
Glen was honestly a sweet guy from what I saw while watching the show.
As someone who has also had pet rats and would love some more again one day, this freaks even me out. But fun fact beyond being super intelligent they are actually very clean if you train them properly. They can actually be litter box trained!
This episode always makes me so sad. He was so attached to the rats.
I’m glad you guys covered this one! It was one of my favorite episodes growing up because glen had the same easy going personality as my grandad. Sadly glen passed in 2015 from an unsolved murder. He was a very kind hearted man who just never had the proper help. May you rest in paradise our rat king
I believe Dane is referring to the Kung Fu tv series that ran on tv in the 70's.
😃👍🏻👍🏻
I was thinking kung pow hahaha, but it’s been ages since I saw it now
I came here to post this. Has to be this.
Yes!
I was going to say the Kung fu movies in the 70s then remade into the TV in the late 80s early 90s
I felt so much worse for Glen than I did for the 'Bunny man." Glen seemed like he was a legitimately sweet guy who was just in a bad spot. Bunny man? Yes, he was just Carl.
I remember this one. I like how they found the original rat.
Was it the original or just one of the few he named?
@ it was the very original one!
I wonder how the rats in the cage feel about the ones who are free
They are probably raging
N.....
😂
@@AlanTuringWannabedespite that though..
@@wearesorryfortheinconvenience I see what you did there. 😉
Ken your jokes are the best so keep making them. Morbid humor is funny and it’s not even morbid he’s just commenting on his observations and it’s funny
People need to chill
i 100% agree but i still feel really bad about some of the jokes they made towards glenn specifically, because hes unfortunately no longer with us. he was murdered in a home break in and the case is still unsloved. Kinda wished they looked up what happened to him after the events of the show and spread that information out there so more people know about glenns cold case. but regardless ur not wrong they arent really being morbid, in fact ken and dane are the most lighthearted people when it comes to making jokes about people imo which is why i love them :)
@@ylik0I completely agree. He just needs to do more research on videos he’s making
@iiasslouii3274 nah, it's fine to make a joke and if the joke isn't about someone's death then their death shouldn't affect the reaction to the joke
@@variaxi935 we’re not the same person. You think it’s okay, good for you
Rats are sort of a terrible rebound pet. They live 2 years. And they have *SO* much peronality that you'll bond hard with them and in turn die inside when it turns 2... ish.
2 is on the low end, my oldest rat lived to be nearly 7.
Not too much on my boy glen. He was a true gem. Just needed a little dusting off. Rip glen😔
that ratical editor moment was pure gold!
love you guys and your videos Ken and Dane! I love that even when there are tough stories you're able to find the light and what's funny about them! keep up the hard work!
It's sad shortly after this episode aired, Glen was murdered. Rip Glen.
At least he is at peace now
@@SindyJ37 true. No longer suffering
Dang that is pretty sad
By who?
@@eveswayze5007 to my knowledge they never found his killer
1:03 I'm pretty sure the movie that you're thinking about Buff is likely "Bloodsport" (1988). Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, is a cult classic martial arts film based on the disputed true story of Frank Dux. It follows his journey to compete in the secret and brutal Kumite tournament in Hong Kong. Known for its intense fight scenes and Van Damme's impressive skills, it launched his career and remains a favorite among martial arts fans.
Rats are such wonderful pets, intelligent, loving and just the best. Obviously you would not want them taking over your house, but they are excellent pets.
This channel is perfect. Shout out to Mary for pulling the strings behind the scenes
The rats really tie the room together, that's like, your opinion, man. 😂
Yoooo A++++ comment
😂😂
The rats abide
Omg😂
I was trying to think who he reminded me of 😂
I saw this episode on TV many years ago and I still clicked this video because I love the humor you guys bring. I come to be entertained and while I have sympathy for hoarders I also grew up with enough Gen X humor to have thicker skin than that.
Rats really are an addiction. They are like a tic tac, you can’t have just one. 🥰 I’ve owned around 10, and my far they were some of my favorite pets to care and play with. They are super smart, cuddly, and love attention and have their own little personalities. :3
I feel bad for these though, there’s no way they’re super healthy when there’s so many of them that are interbreeding, I feel like 12 is about the upper limit of how many you can have before it becomes too many
But you seperated them though, right? Otherwise I feel like 10 would change to 100 quickly
@@frostdemen1 I presume they have only females or only males lol
@@RetroFishkeeper With a fresher head I now notice I'm asking dumb questions to a person who obviously has more experience with 'm than I do. I was about to delete my comment then I thought f it I'll just own it and apologise for my interference so I'm sorry and I hope you all have a wonderful day
@@frostdemen1Rats are extremely social, they have to be with other rats.
I think your humor is perfect!! You never ever make jokes about something serious or upsetting, you just make light about other things going on. Keep doing what you're doing!!
For a minute in the beginning when Dane was describing a movie. I thought he was talking about Rango for a sec lmaoo
Not what Dane is talking about, but I thought Forrest Gump with the group behind him as his beard blows in the wind. 😆
Y'all aren't being too insensitive. You guys are doing what we all came here for. Putting smiles on faces. Carry on boys.
I think he's talking about "Kung Fu: The Legend Continues"
lmao i thought Kung Pow: Enter The Fist
Blind Fury with Rutger Hauer
Well this is what I came to the comments to find out but I guess we’ll never know the answer for sure it looks like lol
@@yb_broski you I thought I was the only one thinking it!
"So on he walked.. and sometimes drove.. and occasionally, partied with the desert creatures."
And this dude def wpulda partied with them.
@@yb_broski also just realised your username and dying bc my Half-orcs name in dnd rn is broski blazer
5:07 That part about the hole in the ceiling, brought me back to when I was watching Ratatouille at the beginning of that movie! 🤣🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭
You guys joke just enough and often have serious moments. I think it's a good balance of humor but facing the reality of the situation. I laugh when I'm overwhelmed, and it is what it is.
Hi Ken, I submitted it to the Google Doc but there’s an episode of Hoarders where the dude is a jerk, yelling and swearing, while 20 people try and clear out his 12th floor NYC apartment. In summer. With no elevator. It’s bonkers
Ken needs to be careful, the way his kids are multiplying, we might see him on an episode 😁
In my opinion, your jokes are perfectly fine. You're joking about the silliness and obsurdity of the situations, never at the tragic fates of the people themselves.
Humor is a completely normal way of coping with uncomfortable events, dark humor is a thing for a reason 🥰
Imagine if he lived next to the lady with a lot of cats. Self cleaning problem.🤣🤣🤣
Super funny.
They probably would not care about each other at all.
Together that block would create a biological event we haven’t seen since the black plague….or Covid
And then on the other side of the cat lady a home with a lot of big snakes or cat-eating dogs
Kung Fu, Dane. You're thinking of Kung Fu in which Kwai Chang Caine walks the earth.
6:29 That's Tedddy IRL from Bob's Burgers
This was the kindest person on Hoarders. I was shocked when I read he was murdered.
Nah, your brand of humor and thoughts on things are one of the reasons I've stayed so long.
Love hearing you and Dane go off on people!
I believe this mans house was raided after the show and he was killed. So sad :(
@@AwezomeAmber Aww
He seemed like a nice guy :(
Killed? Or found dead?
"Unfortunately, there still haven't been any solid leads on Glen's murder in 2023. His family continues to seek closure and answers to who committed such a heartless crime. His compassionate nature and loving personality were clear to see on Hoarders, and it's the reason he touched the hearts of viewers."
@@zakugirlwait he was murdered?!
@@zakugirl that statement makes it seem like he was killed in 2023, but it was back in 2015.
Man is hoping to breed master splinter through trial and error😅
Bwahaha! Dane, it was David Carradine in Kung Fu. He could snatch that pebble out of a fist!! 😂😂😂😂
it’s the “Glen gonna be okay with dis??” when they start ripping the dry wall off for me 😭😂
Buff is talking about Kung Fu! Character's name is Caine!! :)
R I P Glen Brittner
Glen’s story still to this day rips my heart out. He was in so much pain for so long and suffered so severely in death. His whole life was just pain.
The reality is, if you give any amount of rodents to a pet store, they are likely to end up as feeders for snakes.
I knew there was something up 😫
Well the world doesn't need 2000 extra rats 😭
As a rat owner, it frustrates me they left him with ONE rat. One. Rats are social animals. He shoulda kept a few. Surprised he let that happen.
But now reading the comments... gah. Poor man.
Every year I wait for this day 🤣 Thanks for telling me Happy Birthday Ken!!! I'm the big 3-0 today! 🥰🎂🎉
The best humor, is dark humor. It doesn’t matter who takes offense to it or not. Someone will always be offended. Keep doing what you’re doing. Love you’re guys content!
RIP GLEN. He was found un alived by a homeless person. He was one of my favorite people from the show!
4:20 Ken's timing is impeccable, I swear to God he's so smart😊 or at least as editor makes him that way.
P.s. love what time stamped this turned out to be. 😂
Dane is talking about Kung- Fu. The David Carridean show.
I honestly love how much you guys joke around and such. There are some occasions I could see how it comes off as insensitive but I always know you don't mean anything by it and are just having fun and trying to give a laugh. Keep up exactly as you are. You guys are amazing. ❤
Buff was thinking of the TV show Kung Fu with David Carradine
David Carradine , Kung Fu . It was a tv show in 1972 - 75 . Loved it 😊 The desert walking was always in the entro of the show .
Crazy, I was crazy once… they trapped me in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room with rats. That made me crazy! Crazy..
I cannot even tell you how many times I have heard this repeated on my school bus 😂
This reminded me of something i saw posted recently! 🤣 and a lot of people chose rats!
You're in an arena with:
-50 hawks
-10 crocodiles
-3 brown bears
-15 wolves
-1 hunter w/ rifle
-7 buffalo
-10,000 rats
-5 gorillas
-4 lions
Pick 2 to defend you. The others attack you. Goal is to survive 1 hour
Rats and gorillas
(Kung-fu with David Carradine)
And rats are awesome!
Keep on continuing with your humor. I really love and enjoy your dark humor and jokes. That is why I love watching your videos!
I think some are going to end up as snake food. I worked at a pet store and it was always tough for me to sell any small animal I knew was going to be food. :(
This is why I got an egg eating snake because I’m too soft
Fun fact: a group of rats is called a mischief!
You need Charlie, the tru rat king 👑
The Secret of Nimh
I love Dr. Zazio and Dorothy ( who isn't in this episode). They have the most soothing relaxing voices and could never sound angry when they are angry, even if you paid them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He said 1989, and they ran with 1984 cause it was year of the Rat 😂
Best part of any morning is knowing Ken and Dan put out a video. ☀️ literally apart of my morning routine 😂
Pet rats clean themselves like cats from my understanding
Edit: Went from Andys pet shop to Andys rat shop lol
15:15 I believe they most likely dispersed them to shelters and petstore as both pets, feeders or breeders.
It's the big labowski!
That's just like your opinion man.
Yeah, that really bothered me, too. The humane society never seems to do any research on animals outside the spectrum of cats and dogs.
Of course you might say a snake is all tail...
This is why mental healthcare is sooo important! Glen seemed like such a nice guy in a tough situation. Then to see in the comments that he was later murdered by people he was trying to help is just heartbreaking.
WTF?!? How do so many people know about this poor man being murdered? Did they show it as a conclusion at the end of the episode?
Wait he was murdered?!?!
I like that you guys joke about serious stuff! I come to this channel to escape the serious stuff IRL, so I definitely enjoy the comedy and lightheartedness! :)
Father Ken and Father Buffpro have gifted us with the content.
Damnit Ken, we need MORE jokes during serious moments! Seriously though, apparently thats like a psychological coping mechanism that we have as men. So keep em coming
I love the home reno show music while they tear the walls down
As a long time viewer that doesn't comment much, but I enjoy your content because I often make jokes at situations that are hard to stomach myself. Thank you for what you do ken! keep up the good work.
if ONLY Ceiling Cat was here to help.
