- Nelong Valley is a cold desert mountain area which is called 'The Ladakh of Uttarakhand'.
Nelong Valley's elevation is 11,000ft & located 45km before the Indo-Tibetan Border.
It's finally opened for tourists in 2015 after 1962 Indo-China War. Nelong Valley has the similar climate & landscape of Lahul, Spiti and Ladakh.
The Valley falls under Gangotri National Park.
As of now, a [ermit letter is requered to visit the Valley from SDM office, Uttarkashi. However, these regulations are soon expected to ease over time.

Recently I travelled to Sumla, Jadhong and Naga villages in Nelong valley. They are the most beautiful places I have travelled in India.

Hello m so happy to discover this beautiful channel.. m planning to take a activa from haridwar then reach harsil n nelong with that... is it possible? Or it will b very hectic? I m single female solo traveler.. and if i wont stay in prakriti can they arrange ths trip with anyone going tht area if i contribute my part? Pls help me .. your insight will be very helpful. In nelong valley two wheelers are not allowed.. you'll need permission from SDM office nd can go with four wheeler only..
If you are not staying in Prakriti then I don't think they'll help you to get permission n all.. it's better talk to them directly

Permission should be taken from Uttarkashi SDM office..but there was a news that no permission will be needed in near future..dont know it applied or not

Did Prakriti resort have this drive to nelong arranged for you ? Because as per my research, it's a long process. As per articles published on some websites, it's really hectic. Some guy from Uttarkashi told me that it will take 2-3 days because one would have to take noc from 4 departments.
Prakriti just arranged the permission..I think most of hotels n resorts of Harshil do that..as travellers have less time to do these formalities..
As per I know the process of permit does take very long time..it can be easily done by 1 day..but the SDM office is in Uttarkashi..so you have to stay there to do it own..
If you want to avoid that then contact any local person or your hotel.. they'll do that with charges.. you only have to give your aadhar card information.
