I race legends cars on 1/3 mile track. I hit the wall at 80mph. Had minor concussion. I was messed up for 2 weeks. I can only imagine hitting wall at 190.

Concussions and T.B.I. are pervasive throughout our lives. Sports, vehicle accidents. Violence, warfare, you name it. Its somewhat unavoidable. People bump their heads.
I suffer from TBI. I get by. It is terrifying. Riding my bike helps restore my balance. So many never know what happened to them. We have to understand this happens a lot more than people think and it affects society deeply. Damn Jr. Thank you for sharing your truth. I knew it when I met you at Charlotte. You are a true human being. Teaching others about this insidious condition may be your true calling. Party on Jr. Slidejob!

Makes you wonder what the hell is the mandatory trip to infield care center for. NASCAR really needs to catch up with the times. Estimated 20-25 concussion, that's Dale Jr's estimate. How do they go unnoticed and untreated?

the more important question is why would you even let those go unchecked

Nascar drivers are stubborn guys and gals. If they can get away with hiding an injury then they will do it. The worst thing a driver can see is their car on track without them in it. It drove Earnhardt Sr to tears when he had to get outta the car in Indianapolis. Unfortunately like with Earnhardt Sr’s passing it took that for nascar to really clamp down on safety improvements while before that we were losing guys like Adam Petty Kenny Irwin Jr and a few others. Much like with the current procedure in the care center it took Dale Jr going through these concussions for nascar to save the drivers from themselves. It’s rather sad that it takes something happening to a big name driver for nascar to act on something

You have to remember, he is a investment, to a racing team! The way it used to be, a driver was not paid to be injured or damaged! If the driver is injured, it's also possible to loose sponsors and endorsement money!

It's easy you keep it to yourself you don't want nobody to know you are weak I played football when I was young started when I was 12 and through high school and then started racing motorcycles after school in my 20s I'm 62 now and having some memory issues and headaches and problems with my eyes like Dale said but I don't have the money he does so I try to do the best I can

Such a shame that It took us this long to recognize what a scary and real issue CTE is and has been! In hindsight looking at older boxers, wrestlers etc .. it seems obvious. However, much gratitude for the doctors and athletes who are creating awareness around it. Especially when in a lot of cases, as we now know, is preventable. Because as of right now it sure isn’t very treatable ☹️

Resetting the rocks in your ear doesn't always work for all types of vertigo, only works on BPPV.... I've had "vertigo" for 6+ years... Vestibular Neuritis with Chronic Migraines is my official diagnosis... very similar to Menieres Disease.... MAN your symptoms are so similar to what I go through...

I'm beginning to think he was suffering from cranial nerve damage. I had such severe mid-line brain shift, I impacted about half of them.

Could be.. I talk to a lot of veterans with the same symptoms I have, they of course are due to brain injury. So damn scary. Hope they find a cure someday (soon).

Unfortunately it’s very possible. He’s had 20+ concussions and a good number were left untreated.
