That was impressive! Honestly, I've listened to this cover of Seemann very long time ago and never actually liked it, she sounds like a pack of Marlboro red. But after hearing that clip of yours, she does have a nice range.
I still don't like this cover, though, had to mute it less than halfway through.

The crazy thing is that Nina Hagen sings very low on this song even though she actually has a very high voice. Nina Hagen is also called the Godmother of Punk. By the way, Till sings this song very high for his pitch. If you want to find out something about Nina Hagen's voices, I recommend the song "Naturträne". th-cam.com/video/4D-mQniVmis/w-d-xo.html

Nina Hagen is an opera prodigy turned punk queen who's probably still unmatched when it comes to expressive free form singing. Her vocal range is (Well was, she's not young anymore) huge just like her sense of humour. :)

Nina Hage is one of the best vocalists Germany has had in the last decades.
Instead of opera she decided to do punk. As many others here have suggested you should react to „Naturtränen“ for her higher range.

the meaning of rammstein songs (or lines in their songs) isn't always that easy to understand anyways - even if you speak german. it's usually full of references, many people won't get anyway.
in this song there is for example the line "jetzt stehst du da an der laterne" ("now you stand there at the street lamp/corner light"). this is a reference to the song "lili marleen" most famously performed by lale andersen and marlene dietrich (in german and english). it's about a soldier having to leave his loved one for the battle and his hope to survive the war and to return to his love. it was one of the most famous soldier songs during WW2 basically on all sides involved (there were french versions as well). it is (allegedly) still played every evening by the broadcast channel of the bundeswehr (german armed forces).
another line says "das feuer nimmst du von der kerze" ("you take the fire from the candle"). that is a reference to a german superstition, that every time you light a cigarette with a candle (instead of a match) a sailor dies (the song is about sailors after all). allegedly this superstition dates back to the times, when sailors who were on shore leave had to earn their money by selling matches. so, when you don't use matches to light your cigarettes, the sailors can't make a living.
additionally this video has 'hemmingway-ish vibe' ("the old man and the sea") with the guy in the row boat, who at some point doesn't seem to have the strength to go on rowing - although that's neither part of the lyrics, nor of the rammstein-video.

This song always hits me straight in the feels and transports me - very fittingly - back to the time when my grandfather sponsored a cruise along the coast of Norway for his children and their families. My grandmother had just died and they had always traveled a lot and I guess it was his way of coping.
I had just discovered Rammstein and had an MP3 Player that only fit two albums. One of those was "Herzeleid", the Rammstein album that contains "Seemann".
Whenever I hear this song, I think back to this teenage boy, lying in his cabin, kind of seasick, listening to this album over and over again.
Simpler times, with much less to worry about.

"Hoch stand der Sanddorn am Strand von Hiddensee.
Micha, mein Micha und alles tat so weh."
Nina Hagen, born 1955 in East-Berlin. These are our sprightly pensioners.
Whoever wanted to become a musician in the GDR (communist eastern part of Germany) had to learn the profession properly, with school, training and everything that goes with it, like a bricklayer or mechanic. Making a record just for fun was not. It's not necessarily my type, but technically you can't fault her. She masters her profession excellently.

It was very interesting to see a reaction from someone who had no previous conception of what kind of artist Nina Hagen is. Which changed over time, it has to be said.
If you want to get an idea of who she is to many Germans of a certain age, I would suggest that you search for “Nina Hagen Band Rockpalast 1978”. Even though that is kind of silly, it makes me proud as a German to remember what German TV could be like at the time. (Well, I was 8, so I certainly did not watch that and also bought those two great albums only later.)
That’ Rockpalast recording is a whole concert, so if you would prefer to make your first encounter with the band a reaction video, feel free to ask. I saw that TV-Glotzer from that show is on TH-cam, but that is technically also a cover. I also saw that “Auf‘m Bahnhof Zoo” is out there. Or you ask me or others for a song suggestion and use the time markers in the full show video.

It is also my first time hearing this cover. It's really good but I still prefer the original one. Till has much more emotions in his voice and it shows, especially in this song. Every time I hear it, I sense the sadness and I feel it through my whole spine. Whereas this cover is more focused on anger I guess. So I recommend checking out the song by Rammstein. :D

If you are amazed by her facial and vocal expressions in this video, you should try out her live performance of ´Naturträne´. Link: th-cam.com/video/4D-mQniVmis/w-d-xo.html - Nice reaction btw.

This is so interesting. I remember Nina Hagen having a much higher voice, maybe it was the arias, but even in 99 Luftballons she had a good range. Till sings this one with a higher voice than he usually does. Is there something about this song that makes performers want to amaze us with their abilities to bring it to life?

Hello UN7ITLED, Nina Hagen is an icon of punk rock from the 80s and 90s. Here is a live recording of an evergreen by her th-cam.com/video/RpWKrIxi2GY/w-d-xo.html from 1985.
Since you also put a lot of emphasis on the lyrics in videos, I would be happy if you would make a reaction video of "Null Positiv" and their song "Wo Rauch ist, ist auch Feuer" (th-cam.com/video/lOIy-i6c_iI/w-d-xo.html). One of my top bands from the faction "Neue Deutsche Härte".
Many greetings from good old Germany.
