  • How to fix your Butane Soldering Iron with too much or too little fuel pressure. If your iron won't light for more than a second then this might be the issue. I am doing this on a Power Probe Soldering Iron but this fix should work for other brands as well. Weller Portasol, Snap On, Benzomatic.

Beacon you sumovabich, amazing tutorial for this. Bought this back in 2016 with plans to use for car audio install but didn't use it until now lol. Low and behold, major use for it was going to be for heat shrink but this thing was just full blasting until now. Thanks again!

Thank you for the repair, this fixed mine. I have a Master Ultratorch UT-100. Once I got it apart I realized that I didn’t need to take it apart, there is a small flat bladed screw on the heat intensity slider that allows you to loosen and re-position the slider to throttle the flow back a little more (feel some resistance when the slider is near the left side). After doing that it worked like new.
    Thanks again!

Thank you! This reminds me of when we turned basic BIC lighters into “crack lighters” where you popped off the top and turned that gear level wheel around as much as possible and made it shoot a 3 foot flame for fun and laughs. Blew peoples’ minds at the time.

i have a Bernzomatic butane soldering iron. running Ronson butane fuel in it. worked well for a year or so (sporatic use) but in the past year its gotten to the point that ive reverted back to the the el cheapo plug in iron. id love to get the butane one working again. it was very convenient, and the torch was perfect for setting heat shring

Appreciate you taking taking the time to make this video you are an awesome instructor for piece by piece on this unit. I thought i had it all together but it doesn't fire up. How can you test the igniter? Would be surprised if it went bad but I haven't had this working in soooo long and would love to get it back up and running. Again, awesome video and thanks for posting any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine does the same thing.. It floods the burner.. I have to ignite vertically and hold the carburetor open for 20-30 seconds until I see he orange glow from the ceramic chimney (burner) then let go of the igniter which closes off the air. Then it burns but as I move it around you can hear it flooding.. After 5 mins it burns fine.. I have the Master appliance UT-100SI.

Well the disassasbly helped, but my issue seemed to be plugged up in the tip. Once I got that cleared, I just seem to have a huge flame, even when I screw the adjustable part all the way in snug. Turning it up from there makes no difference.

Well I tried this hack or repair and it did not fix the problem ,however if unscrew the plastic shell nut and lift this assembly off .The torch lites fast but as I lower this assembly back down it snuffs out the flame.

Hey, I have a dremel. Pretty much the same. It worked well with a normal lighter fluid/ butane. After changed the brand the flame got really weak. It doesn't make that whistling sound anymore when I fire it up. The flame on the torch is also very weak. I'm currently using some high refined butane and have purged the tank but it still does pretty much the same thing. any thoughts?

I'm sure you figured it out by now but turn the gas up. this happens to all my torch lighters when I change fuel.
