How to make a sea TURTLE 🐢 | DIY paper crafts | Paper mache animals

- Hello, in this video I'm making a sea turtle from paper mache. I used cardboard as a base. As always I used real turtles pictures as a reference to made 'parts'. To made 'parts' hold I used painters tape. Then added packing paper. First layer thicker, second thinner to even out the surface. For face I used air hardening modelling clay, for eyes - half pearls. For paint I used acrylic paint. I used white universal/school glue and hot glue.
Modelling clay tip- use water to make it stick to the surface in this case paper. And wet your tool when you shape it.

I can make anything from wood but now need to help my kiddos with crafts/projects for school . . . So I am a novice with paper mache.
What are you using to make the brown paper have that "wet" look? And what makes it stick together?
Put in the water school glue, mix. Then, put paper in it. Use school glue to glue paper parts together. If you want to stick dry paper to other parts, also use water and glue mix.

@frostct1998 glue mix, I mean water mixed with glue. If you just wet paper when it dries, it will crinkle and fall off. So you need to put glue in the water. How much it's hard to say. If you put too much it will take longer time for paper to absorb and your hands will be messier. Too little will have no effect to hold a form. To be safe, when you put all parts together in the shape you like. Brush thin layer of school glue all over your turtle. Since the paper is wet, it will absorb glue, and it will make hold the shape when it's dry. Just wait. Let it dry completely naturally. Don't use a hair dryer. It just makes your upper layer dry, and the inside will still be wet. When you paint with acrylics, it will seal your work. So you need to be completely dry before that 😉

They are in the description box. But it's very simple cardboard, packing paper (newspaper works too) shool glue, hot glue, half pearls and acrylic paint 😃
