      Thanks for the feedback, Peter. We had a lot of fun, and I think the video portrays that pretty well.

    You can keep the light board connected to the firebox and ash trap lights and power it from a utility output from the new decoder. The lights work and the smoke generator is still connected.

    Eventually, I'll need to do this with my Porter 0-4-0. Hopefully it will be a little more simple to install.

    What is the model and source for the speaker? I'd like to do this for my K27 that has been sitting for years. Also, what is the best power supple controller for this setup?

    Do you need to bypass any of the noise reduction circuitry? Or swap the lighting wires for ground/common? Ive heard they can be backwards or you reprogram from DCC. Wasn't sure what you ended up doing to keep the ash pan flicker and such. Great Vid!

    Function + 2 will give access to the 20 thru 28 functions. Function + 1 gives 13 thru 19 functions.

    What tech does DCC and sound installs on older Aristocraft G scale steam locos?

    I wish I could do this, I have this exact engine. But I would mess something up. I know nothing about wiring/electrical stuff.

    Hey John! Great video. What is the model number for the decoder you used in this installation?

    • @tsgmultimedia
      @tsgmultimedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd have to ask Trevor or Kevin for the exact model, but I'm sure you could find it simply by searching for which Soundtraxx decoder would be best for that Shay.

      Hey Russ I heard back from our install pro and he said it's a TSU4400.

      Tsunami2 TSU-4400 Steam-2 884009 is what you would want. www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/tsunami2/products/tsu4400.php

    YOu think this wiring is bad you should see my analog LGB Stainz/Tender from 1985. I had ot wire in LEDs to the front of the stainz mod the smokestack screw and add a brass tube because I installed and wired into the pickups a Massoth steam generator, and than wire the pickup to the jumper port (analog) becuase the train engineer revolution board, auxillary board and speaker are in the tender and hte umper cables have to bridge the connection for the decoder. I'm surprised this wiring nightmare worked. If I had to do that again, I'd pull the analog female umper ports out and put the modern LGB plugs in place. DIdn't think about that at the time I started updating the irst g-scale train I ever got at 3. Oh and because of the custom wiring, mine does follow NMRA Color Standards. Beause I Made it :3

    But there is no fire box nor is there ash pan flicker

    • @karlrovey
      @karlrovey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't seen a single model locomotive that does that, just like you can't get cylinder steam.

    • @bosco7717
      @bosco7717 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Karl Rovey those Bachmann shays have firebox and ash pan flicker. LGB locos have had firebox flicker for decades, and newer ones have cylinder steam as well (synchronized to the chuff sound and wheel rotation).
