The beauty of Minecraft is that you can play however you want, you can choose not to use these things if you think they are too powerful. Getting rid of/nerfing them eliminates that freedom.

Quite the opposite for a few reasons
      1. Smps if your not the owner you can’t just not remove them from your game and if you want to be able to be comparable to other players power level you will definitely need totems and mending
      2. These things are like junk food it’s mentally hard to stop using them even if you know they ruining some things someone may have to intervene for you to stop
      3. When something is harder to get but is the same power level as something easy to get your brain may subconsciously choose the easier option and completely ignore the other so making something less powerful creates more of a choice not removes a choice

I feel like putting a cap on repair XP would be enough to nerf mending. It wouldn't make it useless, but having the ability to repair a tool forever (even if it costs 20-30 levels to do so) would make it so that it's not a required enchantment for players that get attached to their tools.

You can nerf everything to force players to play the game the way you want. However, you will likely lose a large portion of your player base in the process. Check out 7 Days 2 Die and the problems concerning the constant nerfing of that game.
If the devs of minecraft have left these things in their game, I'm sure that it is to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. • @arcturuslight_
    @arcturuslight_ ปีที่แล้ว +72

The problem with mending is that it doesn't feel like a powerful bonus. It feels like a necessity. It is practically mandatory to get first before thinking about getting any other powerful enchantments, or many enchantments on the same item. Not having mending necessitates getting other enchantments in unlimited quantities, or otherwise devalues them. That efficiency V book i found in a treasure chest is not very exciting when its gonna last literally a couple of minutes cuz my tool breaks.
And I tried to not use librarians! I actually made an effort to find Mending as intended, in treasure chests! Spent hours on it, no luck, that wasn't fun at all.
I dont know why not many people think of it, but they could reduce the need for mending in the first place. How many people even remember that you can repair things on the anvil using copy of the same tool, or even raw materials, without losing enchantments? Unfortunately, that can only be used a couple of times before the cost skyrockets and the repair becomes impossible. My thoughts are... why not just allow this to be the default way of repairing things? Smooth out the repair cost growth (or even remove it, why is it even a thing?) and, most importantly, give it a hard cap, so that repairing your stuff is possible indefinitely. Now it is just Mending, but consumes materials, costs more levels, and requires taking some more actions. This will make mending still desirable rare enchantment, but in no way mandatory.
edit: okay i actually watched later into the video. Yeah, that's the problem with nerfing such necessary things as mending, and arguably iron farms, removing them would not provide more choices, but rather detract from the gameplay. If you make getting enchantments difficult again, most players, _especially_ new ones, would just not get to experience them. Because unless you specifically enjoy mining for hours or otherwise grinding, that will just take away from playing the game the way you want to.

    1. About Totems. Not everybody wants to make complex farms. I, for instance, only do crop farms and a dungeon xp farms, nothing more. It's just a different style of play - to not be bothered with a 2+ hour build just to get a "try again" button. And, with all of this in mind, Totems only work if you're holding them. So you'll miss out on a shield, or on a secondary block to place in your offhand when building. However, I wouldn't mind if Totems become more harder to find. I could even use one for a change. Totems are not really overpowered and do not need a nerf.
    2. About iron. I genuinely don't understand this one. Firstly, you, again, need to make a iron farm, and it's far cry from a basic thing to construct. Second, you don't need that much iron anyway unless you're up to a mega project like a huge railway. I always found it more tedious to make an iron farm rather to go mining when I needed to make my railways, and it never failed me. Iron farms do not need to be nerfed.
    3. About Mending. It definitely needs to be more rare. They should make all villagers have a cache of their trades to never change them, like when after you traded with them. That way it would take an insane amount of luck or a giant man-mane village (which is pretty cool) to obtain the trade you need. Plus, the librarians should only have basic level enchantments at first and gradually transition to the best ones. Mending, or more rather villager trade refreshment is in desperate need of a nerf.
    4. About duplication. I would like it to keep being patched out from the game; they can't really be irradiated for good, though. But if the TNT duplication will be patched, it would leave players without the means of creating devices like World Eaters. Before you nerf TNT dupes, you should suggest an alternative, like a mob that consumes blocks down to the bedrock for example, with going through the Deep Dark portal for a requirement of getting such mob for yourself. Duplication has to be nerfed or, which is better, patched out completely.

100% agree with most of this, farms should still exist for the technical players, more effort=more reward, and would like to see them make mining more fun for adventure type players.
Villagers can't just be changed by putting the trades at the end and the like, as players will still do the same thing, breed hundreds of villagers/materials to get the perfect villager, this just makes it more tedious and time-consuming which is not fun. I would like to see them add more complex mechanics to it such as gifting the villager a diamond to reset the trades, still means some investment but removes the tedious nature of moving villagers around (this is still not a great idea but haven't put a lot of thought into it tbh, just needs to be fun instead of tedious somehow like a mini-game).
For the duplication, when they remove it, they just need to add a renewable way to get sand then TNT can just be crafted without destroying whole deserts to build these types of machines, would be great for concrete etc too.

Automatic farm building is a play style more then a core problem, I play with my friend on his realm and he doesn’t use auto farms but that’s because its his choice to keep the game balanced. When it come down to it Minecraft the game is one that lets make it as hard or as easy as you want depending on your personal play style and that what makes a amazing game.

100%. I can easily go through a stack or two of iron for projects that aren't even that big. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even use an iron farm if it wasn't for the ore distribution changes. Before 1.18 I could go mining for diamonds and come back with multiple stacks of iron, but now if I go mining for diamonds I'll only get a fraction of the iron. You pretty much have to make two mines at different Y levels for diamonds and iron and that increases the amount of time you're spending just walking in a line and breaking blocks. I get that mining is a huge part of MINEcraft, but when I'm already spending an hour trying to get diamonds the last thing I wanna do is go to a different mine to spend an additional hour getting iron. Even though fortune works on iron ore now, it still just feels like a waste of time mining for it (at least in my experience). Mining for diamonds and ancient debris at least makes you feel like you're achieving a goal, mining for iron just feels like a chore.

Let's be clear here, exploration is a lot of fun, but for the smaller portion of the playerbase on Java, it increases the world's file size quite significantly, since it saves every chunk that has been loaded. It's easy to gain several GBs of world size just doing some End City raiding. Now for things like iron this won't typically be a problem, but exploring to find just the right villager absolutely would be.
For me anyway this is a problem with Java's world saving system, but it has also lead to me trimming out large chunks of the End so I don't have 6GB of End saved with nothing built or done with them.

Also some people’s play style is build as many auto farms as possible and collect things form there. Most autofarms are not that easy to build and are not early game and are more mid game. Finally the wood land mansion has 3 totems compared to raids on, loot chests, and more illagers for loot. Or, keep it as it is, and(this was an idea I once thought of) a villager, by birth, will have a pre-determined trade list of every profession. So, replacing a jobsite will not replace a trade. Too overpowered? Well simple solution, don’t use it. Nobody’s forcing you to use your massive supplies.
This is Minecraft, a game where you can play however you want. And that includes the people who want large supplies of stuff, and wants the game to be harder. Regarding the latter, if you want the game to be harder just self impose it. No need to ruin other people’s fun because you want something else

A good option would be to have mending or such books to be only be a relatively rare treasure item and you have sell the books to a specific villager who will take them so they could "study" them so once you sell him 3 or some arbitrary number he will be able to sell you some so you actually have to go find mending a few times adding some hardship but after that you have "infinite" mending when your world moves on to bigger and better things rather than just hunting for books all day . That way the power level in your world proguess as you play unlike current system where you could quite easily get mending villager day one
Edit: this could also add to the lore that enchanted books were a lost technology that was created by the old builders who built all the structure and that we are bringing that knowledge back which would be super cool a sort of restoring the greatness of an older Minecraft civ.

6:00 I think I have a pretty cool way to counter Iron Farms that makes actual sense (not really...). My Idea is it to add the Furnace Golem from Minecraft Earth to Minecraft. It wouldnt take damage from lava and it could have its own sonic boom attack with the difference from the warden being that it shoots fire which would burn the player rather than soul energy. Once an Iron Golem has been killed, the village will begin to spawn Furnace Golems. This also prevents the 3 blocks stacking up method since with the sonic boom or fire boom he has a ranged attack. You could also get a Furnace Golem by repairing Iron Golems with Blast Furnaces.
12:00 To make villager trading less organized and harder to get good trades I have an Idea. Enchanted Items are normally the best trades. I would make it so you cant see what enchantments are on the books/tools/armor you buy and that it would be randomized again every single time you buy another item. That way not every librarian that doesnt have mending has to die. The only thing you see is the enchantment glint in the trade Gui. Lets say you buy an enchanted book for 24 emeralds or something and you get bane of arthropods II. Then you buy another one and get Sharpness V and after that you get trash again with fire protection I. This would also introduce little kids to gambling which is obviously a very good idea jk.
16:00 Mending could become the second signature enchantment of ancient cities since it works similar to sculk making it rarer than before.

Minecraft is extremely time consuming. A nerf to strong items that one has to work for to acquire would just be a horrible idea. A buff to alternatives, as you suggest, is a better alternative. Some things could use a nerf, like totem farming should be reduced, but aside from that I think that mending is fine as is. We should just be able to have a set cost for repair on items. Like maybe a hard max of 10-15 levels to repair a netherite gear.

I don't think librarians need to be nerfed. When setting up the trading hall, I usually get frustrated after an hour or two of villager cycling and still not having mending. Then I'll just say to myself: alright, I've put in the effort, so I can reap the reward. And I'll put mending on my stuff with cheats.
I do think diamond and netherite gear should always be able to have mending, since it's not renewable. (OK, diamond gear is technically renewable through villager trading, but as you might have noticed I don't like villager trading).
As for iron farms, I never really use them, so I can't judge that. I don't do a lot of restone, don't need more than 10 hoppers on any world and don't make big minecart rollercoasters.

My guess to why none of this has happened yet, is because it would absolutely burn the players out. I would not play minecraft if i had to spend EVEN MORE hours trying to find the best enchantments for gear. Also there are things that I have built that i never would have done if i had to mine the iron manually, simply because it costs a toooonnn of iron and i would be spending more time mining than actually building.

I would argue that totems aren't always the best thing to have in your offhand now. Torches, blocks and shields are all options.
While I sort of like the idea of books being higher up in villager trade levels, I do feel like it would encourage the large scale murder of villagers that don't end up with useful ones, though I'm not sure how important that is considering what people do already with zombification.

Might as well remove the elytra as it's impossible to do so in the real world and remove the end and the nether to. The things you listed are like that for a reason and the thing is the person that is playing can choose the easy way or the hard way. It's a sandbox game for a reason. If they start nerfing to much it'll might as well be an rpg game

False. I died in my hardcore mode last night. 69,000 points. God damn tragedy. I didn’t play it for a long time. Went back to it. Played but didn’t do a whole lot. Was fishing for treasure and lvling up at my mob farm. Mined a bit. Until I finally found a zombie villager. Got him into my house and caught him in a boat. Flew around the entire map looking for a brown mushroom. Found a couple more villages. Found one finally. Every other game they are all over the place. So I go back home and make a potion of weakness. Try to throw it at him and I hop in the boat with the zombie. I panic. Trying to jump out. And die. With a totem and die again instantly almost. Hahahahaha. I hadn’t played in MONTHS. I played a bit on the Nintendo. Turns out to get out of a boat on Java is LEFT f-ing SHIFT. Ahhh yes. Let me just crouch out of this boat real quick.

Novice librarians having *any* enchanted book available makes no sense. I would be OK with them making enchanted books stage 3+ and changing the final stage to 2 enchantments (3 total) instead of 1 + (whatever options are available now). I spend most of my time either landscaping or upgrading villages, and even I don't mess with villager-acquired enchantments because they just suck the fun out of the game. I want to actually *earn* my end-game gear, not have it handed to me from a simply game exploit.
Note: I do not use any type of mob farm, nor do I reset villager trades. If I want mob loot, I stay up at night and fight them. If I want a different villager trade, I expand the village and make a new occupation block. I am a weird one like that.

    • @johnw9355
      @johnw9355 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@toycat That's a false equivalency. There are no swords that do +100 damage. Sure, you can farm totems and put mending on tools, but you can choose not to. If you do choose to farm them, you have to go through the time sink of building the farm and sitting on it to get the items you want. Some players enjoy automating everything in the game and it doesn't mean things should be nerfed just because you don't like to play that way.

      Peaceful - no cooldown
      Easy - 5 minutes
      Normal - 30 minutes

I think, the librarians should be able to give you higher enchants, once there are a certain amount of villagers in the village to. Also think that villagers should not trust you until you save them from a raid, before this they wont let you choose jobs for them and golems will attack if you damage villager structures. Though zombie villagers will trust you for saving them and you can start your own village.
