I never thought I’d hear someone say they don’t like what most consider the greatest love song ever. Maybe it’s my generation (gen X) that we grew up to this means more to us. This song came on the radio the first time my “first” girlfriend and I broke up and when the line you were the first so was I came on we decided not to give up on each other.

Also, having empathy lets people put themselves in other peoples' shoes. Even when I was a kid, I could understand songs like this and they touched me deeply, even when it didn't apply directly to my life at that time. But, I've noticed some people seem very shallow, so extremely focused on themselves, very deep and touching songs, stories, etc., are lost on them!

I think Lysi is simply too young to understand what this song is saying. After you have been married for a few years, it will REALLY have meaning and touch the heart. Marriage is hard work. Vows mean something, and mending a broken (good) relationship is the most wonderful thing two people can achieve. You can SEE the love in both their faces as they dance.
