Fun fact. I was the audio engineer for this drum track for this song. Neftali Santiago was the drummer and he got $5k for this session that lasted like a whole dang week. When he played the beat I was like 👁️👄👁️ yeah that’s something right there. And then Jay Z took it to Rihanna and the rest is history. Also, nice cover bruh

The footage is probably cut from a different take and on the one with the audio he opened the hats. If you watch your favorite drummer in multiple performances you'll notice there are often slight variations from session to session.
