- According to the papers, US officials estimated that there were over 90 special forces personnel from NATO states in Ukraine.
The leak does not specify their activities or location. The leaked intelligence also claims Serbia - the only country in Europe that has refused to sanction Russia for the war - agreed to supply arms to Kyiv.

We know there has been US and NATO personnel in Ukraine this whole time under the title of advisor. They told us this was the case from the start because they told us this. They are actually “advising” with training and equipment applications.
Advisors term could also be a cover for active fighting soldiers. On Vietnam War, American soldiers were sent as advisors to help South Vietnamese government. In reality they were engaging in fighting.

when russia took crimea they denied they had any troops there so NATO have every right to do the same. so far it will mostly be intel officers but i say we send a few batallions and just deny it like russia did. russia cant do anything about it anyway

SF, SOF, CIA, etc etc. You don't need leaked docs to know they're all over that place. They are focused on training and intel gathering. Direct action would be minimal and defensive in nature. There may be some "sheep dipped" types there in direct action roles.

The US has said from the very beginning that we (the US) have a very small number of military personnel on the ground in Ukraine to support Ukrainian forces with training, maintenance, and consulting but those US personnel are NOT engaged in combat operations in any way.

"Embassy Personnel" it has never clarified what their duties are. The only thing we know for sure they are not allowed to go to the frontlines.
I'd bet there are at least 90 other specifically US special operations not accounted for on that leak.

Actually, the person they interviewed was also being uneducated. She was suggesting that US sends special forces to instruct people on how to use equipment. That seems highly unlikely given that many of the Ukraine personnel are taken to abroad to be trained. The woman was sadly a joke or lying through her teeth.

@Tony Leamon unlike Soviet Russia and "modern" Russia our forces are trained to uphold the law and stay within the democratically chosen targets of their mission.
So for now I would not expect any NATO or European soldiers serving in a combat MOS within Ukraine.

Manpower = almost nothing on it's own. But you can take that same bit of manpower and scale up to VERY HIGH levels of ability with nothing more than some training, add to that new equipment and the subsequent training on that equipment by special forces.. lul

A couple of thoughts; the US Green Beret Special Forces were created not to directly engage the enemy but to find and help create local forces to do this, to train and assist, if you will. And US SF's have been "traveling" while "on vacation" and under their civilian passports for decades- that describes most of the Rangers loaned to the DEA in Central and South America. I'm sure other nations likely have similar "arrangements" when a conflict they "approve of" but cannot be directly involved in occur. I would suspect there were many EU origin people in the Serbian regions during that conflict as well as a few "Muricans. The Russians obviously understand this- they use the "little green men" subterfuge themselves as "aid" or "other non military assistance"- we saw this in Ukraine and we have seen it elsewhere.
Remember the US Navy Seal that was "AWOL" but was somehow in Ukraine and fighting alongside them?

For example, what value would there be for the US to intentionally advise Russia that Serbia is secretly arming Ukraine, or to publish South Korea's balancing act between appeasement of Moscow whilst still trying to covertly explore options to sell weapons to Ukraine?

They were trained since 2014 by the US. It is why they are so effective, that and that russia has no real generals (just putin friends who bought these position). So the US only trains which is by far the most useful thing they can do and helps them with information if i should guess. So they probably advice and help.with locating targets. Thats it.

I know the J2F2 was there and there was never an official notice they left. I imagine a number of countries have a hand full of higher ranking operators advising and monitoring the situation.

I would be surprised if it's not more than 90. From the first moment of this war, it was obvious to me that they must be there, since Ukraine was doing so well. When they repelled the attack on the airport new Kiev, I was convinced that they're getting intelligence and advice, and for this to be optimally effective there have to be people there with them.

Only after fierce fighting, they realized that destruction of the runway was all they needed along with air defense system. In russia, they value planes over lives. That’s the number one reason behind their massive casualties and loss of Kherson.

While the US is the one country that's helping Ukraine the most, there's also UK, France, Germany, Poland, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland , Israel, Turkey, even Japan and many other countries are all helping Ukraine one way or another, from military equipment to shoes, vests, financial aid, etc. There are even companies like Amazon and many other helping with financing and logistics. That's why Ukrainian soldiers are all well equipped and fed.

Ex special forces, volunteer etc aren't NATO personnel, so why would they mention them? They are civilians. How would they even track who volunteered?

I will point out that before February 2022, there were lots of NATO boots on the ground, specifically special forces training Ukrainian troops. At least then it wasn't secret. Now, how many Russian troops are there? My understanding (per Russia) was that zero Russian troops were there and the DPR and LPR troops only had "captured" Ukrainian equipment (never mind some of it is models Ukraine never owned). Never mind the fact the missile used to shoot down a civilian airliner was a model Ukraine never owned, it was "captured".

There are now over 1200 SF soldiers now. They do a lot of the high tech stuff like drones and air defence. I saw a convoy of Australian armoured vehicles towing a dozen 155mm howitzers and ammo carrier 6x6 trucks. Kangaroo symbol not covered up. You can tell the Aussies. They have Steyr assault rifles or M4s and they are still sand coloured.

Yes, whilst it wasn't splashed alles uber der platz it was pretty widely reported British spec forces and elite units had small training teams in there for some time. No clue about any other nation but British press reported it which probably means the MOD were happy for the doing so.

It's never been secret they are there. It's been made public (from the US at least) from very early on. We also know they are not in direct combat, so likely training, advising, relaying info back to their respective NATO countries, etc. The only surprise here is that it's ONLY ninety.

When you send a bunch of weapons to a country it behooves you to sort facilitate, to keep track of and the use of said weapons.Having proper storage, deployment and maintenance is best done by the countries that supply them. Said countries also want that country to succeed in the use of those weapons.I bet those foreign soldiers, if asked, were volunteers and not NATO sent so no articles apply.

Canada literally has been training Ukrainian troops including JTF 2(of rainbow 6 fame) since 2014
