    I MARKED OUT when this was on ReAction and I REALLY WISH he was more on screen as a character again. I Love Vince Russo. He was with TNA when it GREW. Now he's gone and it's falling yet people still want to say it's "Better" and at the same time say "It's Worse" lol

    This is a shoot. I remember the old TNA back in 2000 when AJ was the champion and Russo was his manager and they were chillin' on the beach vacationing smoking weed in a skit....The good ole' TNA days.

    Something that pisses me off is that people always give Russo so much shit about his time in WCW, yet will defend Eric Bischoff. Bischoff left that company over 10million dollars in debt when they removed him and brought Russo in. Then they expected Russo to turn a profit miraculously to make it worth keeping the show on the air, while having a dozen or so people constantly putting roadblocks in his way.
    And no, I didn't particularly enjoy Russo in WCW, but what I'm saying here is fact.

    it was wayyy more than 10 million, if they lost 90 million in 1999, theres no way 80 million in debt piled up from sept(bischoff's last month) through the last 3 months of '99.

    Hogan & Eric have A LOT to do with it. I've never watched an entire episode of TNA but the clips feel like a generic brand of WWE. TNA chose to imitate instead of innovate. Hogan & Eric debuted the 4-sided ring. The fans chanted "we want 6-sides." Hogan said "4-sides is where it's at." The fans were yelling what they wanted yet Hogan said "u only THINK that's what u want cuz ur not smart enough to know better." Didn't they try to recreate the Montreal screwjob with Hogan, Angle, and AJ?

    ok I have watched wrestling for about 20 some thing years and I still don't get how Eric Bischoff gets so much air time? What is his job title? I know Vince is more behind the scenes in TNA the last time i Seen him was When Piper "Shot" on him, so he's writer right? whats eric a black belt Ceo?

    Yeah, I read recently that the specific number they asked Russo to make up for was roughly $65million in his first 9 months, telling him they'd close WCW if he failed... And then they took him out of power 3 months later, and brought him back another 3 months later but had to get all his ideas approved. Which by the way means that guys like Bischoff, Nash, Graham, Sullivan, etc, all gave the thumbs up for each and every "infamous" Russo moment from those 5 months.

    As long as TNA doesn't go head to head with WWE during the same timeslot like RAW and Nitro did years ago, it's safe to say that both companies are safe. It was the Monday Night Wars that killed WCW.

    I agree completely. The thing is that people don't understand exactly how deep that hole already was. I don't think his work in WCW was good, but that's besides my point, which is that his failures are not responsible for the demise of the company. Of course he deserves a lot of criticism for what he did there, but he doesn't deserve to be blamed for the place shutting down.

    I do agree with you on that. But if they had moved Nitro to a night where they weren't competing with RAW after the tide had turned, they would've probably been able to keep enough viewers where they wouldn't have had to sell the company. WWE is in a down period right now, but it still survives because it's not on against a higher rated wrestling program in the same timeslot.

    vince wants to always lay shit on hulk, but without hulk crossing over wcw never would have made it as far or as big as it has. nWo, i mean come on! the only time they beat the wwf. yeah wcw had some great talent and alot of bs politics but without hulk they would have folded long before. what was the biggest wwe storyline in recent history? oh yeah hulk vs rock, anyone notice the common denominator

  • @MrDivalover1
    @MrDivalover1 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well tna is not getting big ratings they only get over 1 milion viewers. It is diffrent now with tna then wcw because biscoff had turner billions and billion and billions to signed any wwe main eventer on mid carder he wanted in wcw, He doesn't have a unlimtied checkbook of a multi billionaire like turner to get all big wwe names and divas he wants.

  • @DUBtheTIGER
    @DUBtheTIGER 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    If they turned a profit in 98, it was very marginal. They lost a lot of money with things like the Halloween Havoc incident, plus paying guys like Rodman, Malone and Leno... and if I'm not mistaken, the Leno match was at Road Wild, meaning they paid him all that money for a free-admission event. I believe you, and have no problem admitting if I'm wrong... I'm just saying that imo, any profit they turned that year was probably irrelevant.

    It's fair that WCW was in a hole when Russo arrived. But Russo only dug it deeper. Putting the title on David Arquette? All the supposed "shoots" trying to make people think "this is no longer scripted. These guys really do hate each other." The guy kept digging.

    Yes Russo did alot for WWF and had a lot of great ideas. But you have to remember that he had Vince there as a filter. Vince didn't let him do EVERYTHING he wanted. When he got to WCW, he had nobody to reel him in, so he could do any off the wall idea he wanted.

    Technically it was the Monday Night Wars that got both companies thriving and booming. THey've talked about this plenty before and the fact is is that the competition was good for business. And you can look at it and tell. Look at how successful both were in the thick of it. WCW just fell off because of bad management and and other factors from the heads and such. And WWE now is proof of it being better in the Monday Night Wars/Attitude Era.

    Russo is like milk left in a glass on the kitchen counter. The first hour or so [the beginning of his time at WWF], it tastes like milk, but the longer you leave it on that counter, the worse it tastes, and it begins to spoil, curdle, and other interesting things. Russo is far past that at this point.

  • @NWO1121
    @NWO1121 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    To be fair with Vince here Vince Russo wanted to go to the young stars but the way he went about it proves to your point he had no control of that. Hogan's contract he got to do what he wanted with his WCW deal and many of those old wrestlers past their primes that he wanted to get rid of to pave way for the new guy. Russo did amazing in WCW with Vince controlling him but ever he left WWF it was the worst career of his life 3 more years after 99 WCW went out he could of been the best writer

  • @thehmc
    @thehmc 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol. I love the marks who don't get that without Russo, there would be no wrestling business to talk about. WWE was tanking before Russo took over (Yeah. Genius Vince McMahon was bringing out great ideas like Mantaur and The Gobbledy Gooker.), and WCW was run by an accountant from Time/Warner at the end. Not Russo.
    Blaming Russo for the downfall of TNA is like blaming the band for sinking the Titanic.

  • @tdylan
    @tdylan 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    If WCW was making money, they would have stuck with it. You do not get rid of something that's making you money. Look at cigarettes. You know why companies continue to make cigarettes despite all the health issues? Because cigarettes make them money. They don't care that people don't approve of cigarettes, or that cigarettes have a negative image. The profit that they produce negates all of that. Only when it becomes unprofitable as opposed to unpalatable, will they stop.

Kevin Nash was just as over as Goldberg at the time he broke the streak, not to mention it wasn't a clean win so it didn't make Goldberg look worse, it just ended the streak finally. No one else in WCW should've broke the streak at the time, Nash was easily top 5 draws of WCW at the time. Nash didn't kill WCW, Ted Turner and Vince Russo ruined things for the most part.
