One other application of "semaphore" is to draw the arm positions as a bent line. A fun way to pass notes in class and confuse teachers. I don't know why my friends and I did that, this was in the early/mid 2010's, we all had cell phones and could have just texted in class.
When I was first recruited into the Special Forces Group as an Intelligence Sergeant my Master Sergeant asked me if I knew Morse Code and Semaphore, I reluctantly told him I did not but will learn it immediately. Even in the age of 21st Communication and Digital Cryptology, systems can and do go down. And when you need to a message can be "Keyed Out" over an otherwise inoperable radio using Morse Code (SF has a Brevity Code book just for that), and if you have line of sight, even with a drone orbiting 30,000 feet above the battlefield Semaphore can be very useful. It's not just Boy Scouts that should learn the "Old Ways"... I did. SSG. U.S. Army (Medically Retired) Infantry / Sniper / SOF Intel (SOT-A), multiple tours
I programmed semaphore gestures into Gesture-board (a Google Play app) You trace your finger in the shape of a semaphore letter to type, make music, or play console/PC quality games You could do all three of those things even on a smartwatch if only... 1) The app was transparent and full screen 2) It would run without a text field 3) It would recognize these semaphore gestures more accurately 4) It would register multiple semaphore gestures at the same time
@@EquaTechnologies Sorry, haven't had luck with getting someone to make this (but at least Gesture-board is still on Google Play) I hope it's a feature that I can add to .html apps- even if I have to figure out how to do it myself FRI MAR-22-2024CE 1846EDT

I know it's 2 years but is your app in the Google Play store?
