The memories this song brings back......grade school........1970's......the only girl in our class of 5 could sit down at the old upright piano in the hallway, and this was her favorite tune......
Oh yes! Very well done! I really struggle with the octaves in ragtime but you did fantastic. That Kawai was really producing those bass notes the way you wanted them too! 10/10 man!
I've played this piece, and the composer's annotation is "Not too fast". The pianist here has an excellent ability, but the tempo of this particular rag should be a bit slower IMO.
The annotation is "not fast." I've seen another say 70bpm. But to each their own. I've always been used to The Entertainer at this speed until I listened to a lot of different recordings. For the most part it is slower. It's a ragtime two-step. But I do like this speed.
Yes, indeed. I slightly bumped up the tempo to keep the energy going. Also, the original piano roll version fluctuates in timing quite a bit so I found a medium ground. :D

Hey GeekPlayz, thank you for the kind words. I'm happy you feel that way about my skills. If I get enough requests I'll definitely cover that tune. Cheers :D
At the present moment, I haven't had the chance to sit down and write all of my arrangements down. I learn the pieces by ear, and as such never had the need to refer to a score of some sort.
I like to play my ragtime in a briskly fashion delivering crisp syncopation, and more attack. I suggest you check out my ragtime mashup video th-cam.com/video/jI_2UVxY4gU/w-d-xo.html especially starting from the 1:38 mark. Slightly faster than this video ;)
It's quite hard if not impossible to determine how Scott Joplin wanted this song played. For one, he's not around anymore so we can't really ask him, and second, the only true representation we have is via a piano roll. I think the idea with ragtime music and 'The Entertainer' in particular is to bring forth a sense of musical movement and jolliness. John Arpin's version although pretty, loses that sense of giddiness and romanticizes the piece almost "à la" Chopin rubato. Slightly exaggerated... But, oh well, to each their own. Cheers!
Couldn't be better. Couldn't be greater. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!

I love the way you played the song, very smooth and gentle! Good job!!
I love the way he wags his head and smiles when he knows he's hitting the notes just right. A musician's O-face is a beautiful thing.
Some times I listen this performance again. This kawai has a really good sound.
Yeah it's absolutely stunning, and a pleasure to play too :)
I love this rendition, best I've found. I think I'll use it on my alarm clock.
It definitely wake you up XD

Haha, well now that you put it that way ;) Just kidding, to each his own

the original is slower and in my opinion better but that's just my opinion so...
I like the tempo you play it - it makes the piece more interesting! ;)

why do you never share your sheet music? i'd really love to play some of the pieces you have but can't find the sheets :(

I must’ve put in a week or two for sure.

A little faster for me mais but very good performance.
Thank you Guillaume! Are you from Montreal if you don't mind me asking?
No south of France

Can i get this version of piano sheet?
I believe it is widely available online. Google is your friend
Who is there from crossy road?
Chido
Wow
Is this the original tempo ?
Originally it was a piano roll so who knows
Problems with the tempo? Play it at 0.75. XD
Hahaha good one
*"1902"*
Precisely so... I think XD

Why the rush & where's the emotion?
Quien te corre? Tom y Jerry? jaja
Solo teníe 3 minutos y 10 segundos para cocinar mi filete, de lo contrario se quemaría ;)
Pov: your here for music class
Nope
Joplin said “Ragtime should not be played fast”.
A Little to fast
Shut the fuck up, you prob can’t play it yourself
Slow down dude or at least hold the notes a little longer.

I think this tempo suits the song
Fuck off! The tempo is absolutely perfect! If if you don't like it play the damn doing yourself
So fast.
Speedy Gonzales they call me
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Not how it's meant to be played. Refer to the sheet on changing loudness.
You can play it however you want
That is true. But listen to John Arpin for how Joplin wanted it played. Not for the tempo but for the dynamics.

@@DoubleGaussPeople usually play music the way they enjoy playing because whats the point of playing it "hOw JoPlIn WaNtEd" if you dont like it?
It’s okay in 0,75x
Even better in 1,5x
