Think of it as a race. He decided to take on 32 races, by himself, solo. The "alliance" are just the racers he's competing against all doing their best to hold onto their own records while Mathias tries to beat them all. It's all friendly and all in good fun, and if he gets the 1.0, they will be cheering him just as hard, if not harder, than the rest of us will be.
