Hi Timeka, Came across your video because if you haven’t guessed, I failed! I’m learning not to take it personal because of every reason you just listed: burnout, not having the resources like time to commit to it, etc. I am definitely going to take a break from retesting. I am a new grad with about 1 1/2 years of experience in HR between full time and internships. This video just reminded me that I need to give myself a break and appreciate what I’ve done so far. Thank you for reigniting courage in me to get up and see things in a different light!
You are soooo welcome! That’s the VERY reason I created that video! Don’t beat yourself up! I’ve been there too but honestly, it just wasn’t my time. It’s not a deal breaker for career growth so dust yourself off & appreciate the “now”. 💜
I just took my exam on Friday and got a preliminary fail. I spent 6 months utilizing the SHRM learning system and I don’t remember seeing any of the content on the exam in that learning system! I knew halfway through the exam that I was going to fail. I’m so disappointed in myself and feel horrible and depressed for failing.
Girl! I just took it and failed for the second time, and both times the material studied was barely represented on the exam. I even used the SHRM learning system and studied my tailfeather off. I'm typing this from the parking lot of the testing center! I will say, I'm not as upset as I was the first time because I know that I really studied hard this time. It's still really frustrating though.
Girl, yes!! I feel you on all this. Taking a break is totally fine AND you can’t underestimate that the exam is mentally taxing! I have sat for the LSAT and these HR exams are so long and you have to have the stamina for it!
I think my soul is at peace with having what I have. It’s not worth it & I doubt I’ll make more. I just haven’t seen enough proof to validate two certs & I’ve researched it A LOT! ☺️
@@HeyyyHR I've been struggling with the decision to take the SHRM-SCP. I think personal branding is probably less costly and more effective than having BOTH certs, I agree with you 100%! Thank you for posting these videos -- I tell people all the time, there is not HR for HR. So, having a platform of other HR professionals is so powerful! Keep up the good work! 😀
I just took the SHRM-CP test and failed. Honestly? I feel like shit. Straight up. I studied my ass off. No, I did not "freeze" up or overthink. No, I did not "overstudy." I took a SHRM class and to be honest with you, I did not see ANY of the information, quiz, or tests that we covered in the material at all. Afterwards, I notified SHRM that the polymetrics test was completely different from what we were presented with regarding SHRM studying test, quizzes, and material. I did get my certificate for completing the course but I don't know if going through that disappointment is worth it. I needed to be in a class that ACTUALLY covers stuff on the test. Disappointed to say the least!
I know the feeling OOOOHHH SOOO WELL! Here's my devstating problem on how I let man problems mess me up completely. th-cam.com/video/WXtao01idmQ/w-d-xo.html Check your local technical colleges for SHRM classes and the national SHRM website. Then dust yourself off, create REAL plan (I thought I had a plan & it caused me to fail) Here's the plan I created that allowed me to pass. th-cam.com/video/hm6E0fNnD5E/w-d-xo.html YOU'VE GOT THIS SIS! IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD! Please keep me updated!!! 💜
I’m not telling anyone of my coworkers or supervisor know when I take it. Unfortunately, I don’t feel they have my best interest when it comes to my professional development. My supervisor would be scared I’m a leave if I passed.
omg... I'm sooo sorry to hear this. It seem still not long ago that I failed as well, so I completely understand. I took a 2 year break before sitting for the exam again. Sending good vibes you way.

My same experience today:/ did you take it again?

That’s so common but so sad too… smh
I low-key feel this way.
I understand
I failed and signed up again. After watching this video I canceled. I need help!
What made you decide to cancel it?
I’m burnt out. I studied hard and got a 190. I took a prep course and bought every book, video, etc. you can think of.
@@erinsmith9523 sounds exactly like my story. Take a break! It’s so helpful. I’m so happy that I took a break.
I failed my SPHRi exam just now😞
