  • Welcome to English in a Minute!
Pavement is any hard surface like a street or sidewalk. To pound something means to beat it. But what could “pound the pavement” mean?
    D: I heard you’re helping Enrico find a job.
    A: Yes. Yes, I am.
    D: And how’s that going?
A: Well, I had him pound the pavement all day yesterday. And now, he has many job leads!
D: I saw him on TV yesterday. He was at the baseball game. And it was a very long game.
    A: Sigh. Enrico!
When you “pound the pavement,” you walk on a lot of city streets to get something done. You can do this for all sorts of reasons, but the most common way we use this phrase is when talking about looking for employment.

I want ask one more question. What does "LEAD" mean?
I looked up (Korean-English) dictionaries, and I couldn't find descriptions of "LEAD" in "JOB LEAD."
Does "LEAD" include a meaning of "oppotunities", "offers", etc..??

@@생강차5861 A job lead is essentially, info. about an open position/job.
While just "lead", has different meanings, depending upon the context and scenario, for eg. lead of a movie, taking a lead in a race etc. cheers
