    Ooooh yes I'd love for you to teach how you painted the whale :)! I love it! Question: do you use your watercolor btush when using gold acrylic (or acrylics in general)? Or do you have special ones? I heard you should never use a watercolour brush with acrylics otherwise it'll be ruined... thoughts?

    • @WaterColorMisfit
      @WaterColorMisfit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Good question! No, I use either my old cheap watercolor brushes - or an inexpensive all purpose brush. Acrylic paint can ruin your watercolor brushes - so best to not use them for these techniques. :D

    I actually work wet into wet very often. I like to use that technique when I'm working on cold pressed papers then doing heavy washes and adding salt to absorb the water then glaze progressive layers on top. I LOVE!!! the textures it gives me.

    I like tilting the board around to spread the pigment on the water color. It can also crest cool effects.

    A beautiful whale. I do like the way you used the string. I have a thing for using matchboxes the outside part - a rectangle. I like to hold my paintings up to a mirror. It's a great way to change your perspective.

    I love your tutorials for two reasons. First, you are a very good teacher! Very clear and didactic. And second, your videos calm my mind! They are very clean, peaceful, and pure... There is no place for stress. For all the above, thank you very much!

    1. Liked the video. ✓
    2. I use a straw and create small bubbles to create a different texture. ✓
    3. Yes, I definitely would like further videos like this. ✓
    4. Yes please, I would like a video explaining how you painted the whale. ✓
    5. As regards further videos, could you do a mini series on creating different textures in watercolours please. I mean things like; rust, flaking paint, fur, gnarly rotting teeth, sores, pustules, scars, ghostly images - things no one else has done on TH-cam.
    Also, could you do a series on creating different skin colours, tones & hues - all different races please as I have no idea how to colour anyone properly, including the different hair textures, eye colours for different races, nail colours, etc.
    Thanks, and I hope I have given you some ideas of what I would like to learn, and hopefully other people as well. Thanks.

    I really enjoyed watching your process in painting the 🐋. Would love a tutorial! I have used salt with watercolors. I like the wet on wet technique,but am still learning and practicing how much water to use. I love to see the colors flow into each other, but notice when I use too much water they blend and often don't look as good. So glad you are back and feeling creative again! 💕

    I loved this video. I am just about to delve into watercolour....when time allows....and i just love your tutorials. I haven't done much artwork for years, life got in the way of me doing "me" stuff, but you make watercolour exciting and so i watch as much of you as i can. You explain everything so well and you don't put in all that silly giggling and chatter about nothing when you teach. I am really, really looking forward to seeing your tutorial on painting this gorgeous whale. .....Joan from Sydney in Oz..

    Years ago I studied with Roy Purcell, now sadly deceased. He taught us to use little tubs of Dylon dyes, put a tiny hole in the top and sprinkle just a bit here and there. The primary colors weren’t that exciting, but something like cafe au lait would burst into a colorful garden of flowers. I just got an assortment of Essential Elements and can’t wait to see what they will do. I just found you by a link Minnie posted, and am I ever grateful.

    Loving the tutorials! As far as texture is concerned, I think I'm still learning to paint flat... Being a newbie, I am not at the place where I can look at what I'm doing and think...oh...this needs that and that needs this. A tutorial about when to add textures would be lovely! I love the whale, but I also would like a tutorial over abstracts and patterns. I really love seeing what artists are doing with that on Instagram. Have a great day!

    I would love a tutorial for the whale. I love all of your videos, but I admit I am a new subscriber, I am glad I found you. I am lacking the energy to actually get up and put anything to my paper due to my health problems. I have stage 4 breast cancer, but please don't feel bad. I am a fighter. A very strong fighter. I do everything I can. But I do get down sometimes. I use tutorials just like yours on days when I am too tired to do much else, and I dream of the days when I can sit and do something for someone else. I am a card maker...it's perfect for me because I work hard on making the perfect little piece of art and then, give it (or sell it) away. I have been making little beach scenes. I find that painting the ocean and the sky is pretty forgiving when I started out and as I kept at it, I got better. I believe keeping my hands and mind busy is a great way to stay happy! Thank you for your tutorials. Please don't feel like no one is listening, because I certainly am. I am sure there are others like me who have difficulty leaving the house and you are their contact with the rest of the world. Thank you for that!!❤️

Then after my painting dries I will go back in strategically, with some more gold ink and add them in some other places, being careful not to overdue it! But, I have just been in LOVE with doing this lately lol!!!

    I love this style! Please do a tutorial. I noticed you used white watercolor in the mix so that interests me. As for my wet on wet techniques, I've used salt and drops of alcohol.
    However, I can't seem to achieve that awesome salt bloom. Am I using too much water? Are my colors too light? I've tried table salt, sea salt, pink Himalayan salt, fine, coarse, and freshly ground and let it dry completely, yet it doesn't show any texture!! A frustrating mystery.

  • @nelsonong3125
    @nelsonong3125 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    instead of using pipettes, dry your brush and soak the water up from the paper is another way to absorb water. I would do wet on wet on background only in landscape (most of the time) and I usually use french ultramarine for the sky. so adding salt or anything might ruin the beautiful granulating ultramarine.
