    During gestation, the baby dies pretty quickly after the mom dies, due to her heart no longer sending valuable oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. Coffin birth is the result of a decomposing body releasing gas build-up and fluid expression. The baby was already dead when he/she was pushed out of his/her mom's decomposing body. This video makes it feel like the baby was born alive and tragically died while in the coffin.

      The British Museum has a whole collection of human fetuses in jars on display showing the stages of gestation. Creepy AF. Those Victorians sure were bizarre. Superstitious to a degree completely out of proportion to the scientific knowledge of the day. Frankly, I'm surprised they weren't doing human sacrifices. I also suspect there was as much infanticide in Victorian Britain as there was thousands of years ago because sex was so taboo. And murdering a newborn, to them, would have been preferable to public knowledge of infidelity or promiscuity.
      Humanity isn't half as evolved as people pretend. We're still just animals.

      Nothing new to me here but it was neat to see some of the anthropological finds that have happened in more recent years. The British museum has a collection of human fetuses in jars, which I saw as a kid. That's more shocking than anything in this video because relatively modern humans did that. I would like to think they were extracted post mortem from a deceased pregnant woman who died of non-nefarious causes but I'm far from being naive enough to believe that. Victorians were creepy AF. They basically invented modern serial killers. Jack the Ripper, H.H. Holmes. Probably many I've never heard of in other countries because I had an Anglo-American upbringing. A stiflingly oppressive society leads to nothing good.

    • @meowmeowziyi
      @meowmeowziyi หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I mean obviously sacrificing a human being is horrible, but when we look at situations like this, we have to look at it in its historical context. For the Incas, being the Virgin of the Sun (which this girl was) was the greatest honor that could be bestowed onto a girl and her family. There were parents actively offering their daughters for this ritual. Of course this is still horrendous and sad, but the girl would’ve most likely thought she was doing the greatest deed for her people. This isn’t justification for the murders by the way, I’m just telling you that the Incas genuinely didn’t believe this was cruel or unfair.

    I think that the two men found together in an embrace we're just close friends or neighbors. Heck they could have even been strangers... Two people were going through the most traumatic time of their lives they lost their entire families... Anyone would look for comfort in a time where it would appear the entire world would have been ending for them. So no just because two men were embracing during a time of absolute fear especially of death and we're seeking comfort from one another does not mean they were gay. You cannot assume just because it's two men hugging that they were lovers ^~^ that's my opinion.

    • @Seleuce
      @Seleuce หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      The biggest problem with the modern perspective of "gay" is the black and white view. So many today see any sign of affection between people of the same gender as a clear sign of homoerotic feelings. Completely ignoring that there is love and there is sexual desire. It's not the same. 2 men or 2 women can deeply love, yet never sexually desire each other. And there are so many layers of love as well as of desire.

It is good that many Native American graves (who were dug up and put in museums) -- when no one would do the same with white folks of similar vintage : It is good that many are being returned. Yet archaeology (diet, clothing, weapons, customs...) depends on being able to scientifically, and compassionately study.

    It’s annoying have every single mass burial is automatically a ritualistic sacrifice. As if there wasn’t like 20 other scenarios that it could be. 😤

    The one who gave birth while in the coffin. It's from the gases building up inside the mom as her body rots. That gas takes the root of less resistant. The gas pushes the baby out. Watched a video about it ages ago. The baby was acting as a plug per say. Ones the pressure of the gas hit a certain level. The baby just popped out.

    I just find believing in all these " Gods " and using human sacrifice ridiculous.
    I understand it was long long ago. But the thought process was really barbaric. These poor people were buried in what they thought was eternity. Only to be disturbed in the twentieth century.
    Its quite interesting and sad.

    What's more sad than finding dead baby bones in the sewers is the fact that 2000 years ago when this happened, was the exact time that Christ was born and the King of Israel at the time (King Herod) had al the babies killed out of fear that he would lose his kingship to the prophesied king Jesus. He was making sure that his own reign did not end. And yet the commentator claims that the reason for these babies being found in the sewers is a mystery. When will people look at scripture as archeological truth? So sad.

    Am I really the only one that just sees the beauty in these last moments? What we call sacrifice and natural disasters is only humans reaction to what they knew back then... Normal human reaction created beautiful deaths and nature just preserved it in such an amazing way... For us to learn from those **dark moments** ... A lesson in time! Learn, appreciate and be thankful for what we are today and what tomorrow will bring us!

      Ironically they found there were illnesses that had symptoms that were vampire-like, such as really pale skin, appearing to be dead and "rising from the dead" along with having some animalistic like behaviors by craving and eating weird things. Other things were added on to the stories like fangs, turning into bats and not having a reflection. Legends and lore are usually based on some truth and stories were embellished over time.
      There are people who still practice witchcraft and that has been around forever. That won't ever go away. I'm a practicing Wiccan and also dabble in the occult. But like other legends, there are things in stories about witches that obviously aren't real and were also embellished.
