Capacocha children were NOT alive when buried, they were killed (sacrificed) by a fatal blow to the head. Also, mercifully, they were drugged beforehand as part of the ritual. C'mon, doesn't anybody watch National Geographic anymore?😂
Some of them were indeed crushed or smothered to death while being tightly bound, (usually in fabric), while alive but the contents of their stomachs where available usually indicate they were drugged beforehand.
18 : she probably had eclampsia, but the baby would not have been born after she was buried, probably extruded due to decomposition, and fortunately dead long before that. Trepanning is an established successful treatment for some of the symptoms of eclampsia, but probably not for full-blown eclapmsia itself.
That was my first though too. Trepanning was used to treat seizures and eclampsia would lead to seizures. They were trying to help her but couldn't and she and the baby died. It's likely they didn't consider the baby could live a minute or two in their dead mother back then, so they didn't attempt a C-section immediately after her death.

I remember having read about this in an issue of National Geographic-the pictures of Pompeii after the catastrophe of Mount Vesuvius….Those pictures never left my mind….I was about 10 years old when I saw it, I’m 66 now.
My father had a book on WW 2 and in it was a picture of a guy on the edge of an open grave moments before his execution. I'll never forget his face contorted with fear. I am 66 too.
When you walk along the street in Pompeii, which is much larger than you think, you are conscious all the time of Vesuvius towering above the city. Don't forget the other settlements which were lost too - Herculaneum and Stabia. Though not as big as Pompeii, they have fascinating homes, some with wooden cupboards and beautiful frescoes which still retain their bright colours.
And the only thing anyone remembers are the 6 million Jews. Far more people who weren't Jewish died as a result of WWII. And the death of civilians in war is cruel, no matter whether they are herded into gas chambers or bombed. They ALL were terrified in their final moments. NONE of them deserved to die. Nobody gave gay people their own country. Nobody gave me sh*t in school for having some Jewish ancestry but they sure did give me sh*t for being gay. The degree to which Jewish victims of the Nazis were given concessions is an insult to every other group that perished in concentration camps. Millions went from being in a concentration camp to being oppressed by the Soviets because they weren't given a golden ticket.
Interesting, the story in the bible how Harod demanded all the male babies were to be killed. All because he was afraid of a new born baby was a threat. That’s one possible reason for those babies being in that sewer.
@@TheRealChaosQueenit was Mostly males. I imagine there were soldiers too lazy & rushed to check the sex. They would not have cared if a few Jewish baby girls were killed.
Most I found were quite peaceful. The chained dog was obviously struggling to escape. Cave Canem, as the inscription in the mosaic says -"Beware of the Dog". The more things change, the more they remain the same.
1:12 Very, very, odd that considering they were MALE and this was Rome, the first speculation wasn't that they were discarded male babies from when the soldiers were ordered to kill them for fear of one of the babies being the Messiah.
That was my thought too. However, if they were as a result of brothels, the women would be most likely be encouraged to keep the baby girls (yuck!) and discard the boys.

They repeatedly use video clips from a film about Pompeii when they talk about ancient China and ancient Iran. The part about ancient chemical warefare uses pictures from World War II. I was holidaying in south Dorset in 2011, the year before the Olympic Games, and the local press said the Viking bodies were those of a Viking raiding party who were unfortunately captured by the local Saxon inhabitants. I remember reading that DNA tests were conducted on the remains and one of the bodies came from a young man who was originally from somewhere near the Arctic Circle because of what tests of his bones revealed about his life and diet.

I'm a bit surprised that the massacre of Sandby borg didn't make it to the list. Nobody was buried as everyone died. What's even more sad is that there are no women inside the fort, they are expected to be found outside of the fort as they were likely assulted before being executed.
That's probably when Herod ordered all male children under 2 years old to be killed after the birth of Christ, otherwise known as the 'Massacre of the Innocents'.
There is no evidence that the “massacre of the innocents” happened. Herod did have killed many people but there’s nothing to suggest wholesale slaughter of infants and toddlers. If the sewers were close to brothels then male infants would be disposed of while female children would be raised into sexual slavery just like their mothers.

I would have thought being born to a wealthy couple would have been a blessing, but I guess not in your case. Sounds like you've been through a lot, sorry that you had to go through that 💔.
I feel the exact same way about my existence. I wish my mother had aborted me. I was also abandoned, except on a doorstep of a perverse alcoholic old lady and her sadistic teenage daughter after my grandfather used me as a play toy all before the rope age of 4.... I absolutely wouldn't wish my life on anyone.
You aren't the only one. Life's hard, even for the people kept by their "Mother" ! But if we wished we were dead, that is a sign that we have serious need for help. Get help from Dr. Because being able to be happy is so awesome and feels so good. Have you ever been happy? It's fun, and worth it. Take some of the wealth and get treatment .
I think that the two men found together in an embrace we're just close friends or neighbors. Heck they could have even been strangers... Two people were going through the most traumatic time of their lives they lost their entire families... Anyone would look for comfort in a time where it would appear the entire world would have been ending for them. So no just because two men were embracing during a time of absolute fear especially of death and we're seeking comfort from one another does not mean they were gay. You cannot assume just because it's two men hugging that they were lovers ^~^ that's my opinion.
The biggest problem with the modern perspective of "gay" is the black and white view. So many today see any sign of affection between people of the same gender as a clear sign of homoerotic feelings. Completely ignoring that there is love and there is sexual desire. It's not the same. 2 men or 2 women can deeply love, yet never sexually desire each other. And there are so many layers of love as well as of desire.
Imagine if someone walked into a local cemetery on 5th street an started digging up the plots. We would be horrified too see these 'modern' graves being dug up and studied. In 1000 years it would be celebrated and an episode on the history show.
It won't be. We already document everything with computers, phones etc. Back then. They didn't have or had next to no way to record things. Now we record 2 random people fighting in the street while others stand there screaming like a bantchy
The annunaki's legend tell about how much the gods wanted sacrifices because it "calmed them down". I think the ancient societies wanted to please the gods by offering humans.

People studied in order to learn from them. Also archaeology is a type of cultural life after death. Different cultures though view things differently. It is good that many Native American graves (who were dug up and put in museums) -- when no one would do the same with white folks of similar vintage : It is good that many are being returned. Yet archaeology (diet, clothing, weapons, customs...) depends on being able to scientifically, and compassionately study.
just fyi, these archaeological digs often do a number on those that work on them. More often than not, when archaeologists stumble upon human remains, even in non tragic circumstances, they cease their activities and offer a prayer relevant to their own spiritual beliefs, for the deceased. Pompeii has to be doing a number on the people who are working it.
Anything is possible but if these deaths were natural they would have been buried in individual graves, likely with their parents being buried next to them when they finally passed. Loved and wanted infants are not thrown into a mass burial.
@@karidennis6154 I wouldn't be surprised if many of the babies were forcibly taken away from their mothers, such as from prostitutes. But then again, infant and mother mortality rates were significantly higher before modern medicine.
Yeah back then. A child with a disability was killed off. Depending where your from. Say a 5 year old with bad autism would be taken out to the forest and left their as the parents couldn't bring themselves to physically do the task themselves. They'll let nature do it. The one who gave birth while in the coffin. It's from the gases building up inside the mom as her body rots. That gas takes the root of less resistant. The gas pushes the baby out. Watched a video about it ages ago. The baby was acting as a plug per say. Ones the pressure of the gas hit a certain level. The baby just popped out.
I just find believing in all these " Gods " and using human sacrifice ridiculous. I understand it was long long ago. But the thought process was really barbaric. These poor people were buried in what they thought was eternity. Only to be disturbed in the twentieth century. Its quite interesting and sad.
What's more sad than finding dead baby bones in the sewers is the fact that 2000 years ago when this happened, was the exact time that Christ was born and the King of Israel at the time (King Herod) had al the babies killed out of fear that he would lose his kingship to the prophesied king Jesus. He was making sure that his own reign did not end. And yet the commentator claims that the reason for these babies being found in the sewers is a mystery. When will people look at scripture as archeological truth? So sad.
Am I really the only one that just sees the beauty in these last moments? What we call sacrifice and natural disasters is only humans reaction to what they knew back then... Normal human reaction created beautiful deaths and nature just preserved it in such an amazing way... For us to learn from those **dark moments** ... A lesson in time! Learn, appreciate and be thankful for what we are today and what tomorrow will bring us!

Capacocha children were NOT alive when buried, they were killed (sacrificed) by a fatal blow to the head. Also, mercifully, they were drugged beforehand as part of the ritual. C'mon, doesn't anybody watch National Geographic anymore?😂
@ Yes, as opposed to forcefully, just so they didn't feel what was coming to them.
Is National Geographic still on?
Nst Geo is an Institution with a magazine and active teams making discoveries everyday@ellengundy4714

I had the same thoughts. Among many others, there is a massive difference in time between the Neolithic and Mediaeval periods. Furthermore, the narrator mentions the Aztecs; yet shows clips of the film Apocalypto which depicted the Mayan civilisation. Americans!

I remember having read about this in an issue of National Geographic-the pictures of Pompeii after the catastrophe of Mount Vesuvius….Those pictures never left my mind….I was about 10 years old when I saw it, I’m 66 now.
Too young when you found that article. I had a similar experience.
You've got it wrong. Thre three children buried on the mountains were found separately! They were not buried together.
World war 2, the number of Civilians killed world wide was 45 million, that's just crazy.
Is that sad, do we ever find any thing related to that?
Then, why the girls?
@@TheRealChaosQueenit was Mostly males. I imagine there were soldiers too lazy & rushed to check the sex. They would not have cared if a few Jewish baby girls were killed.
Or, that the bathhouse operated fully as a bathhouse, providing prostitution as well.
I've been to Pompeii and it's the most eerie place. The casts of those bodies are horrific.
Most I found were quite peaceful. The chained dog was obviously struggling to escape. Cave Canem, as the inscription in the mosaic says -"Beware of the Dog". The more things change, the more they remain the same.
Just because 2 males were lying near each other in impending doom doesn't mean they were sodomites.
They could well be a father and son or brothers. I could see the father comforting his son in a perilous time!
Exactly!
Or they could be sodomites
Harsh
Nobody has the right to judge on speculation, it's bloody ridiculous. Giving prayers and may these people rest in peace.
The saddest thing for me is how the content creators messed up actually interesting information with for the most part completely unsuitable and plain wrong video sequences and pictures.

@@user-hrhethan Here are some examples: Talking about ancient China they showed videos clips from ancient Egypt and Rome. Talking about the bog men, they used a picture from Asia. When talking about Aztec gods they use picture of what seems like a European pantheon and a picture from the game "God of War". They repeatedly use video clips from a film about Pompeii when they talk about ancient China and ancient Iran. The part about ancient chemical warefare uses pictures from World War II. And talking about Vikings in England, clips from an army on camels and horses in the desert.
@@vickychaotic1602 Yes the Vikings on camels got me especially. Glad others noticed too. The French soldiers with blue tinged helmets were I think in WW1

Everything archaeologists discover is sad, when you think about it. It's always about people who have died...........
It was only the males not females
There is no evidence that the “massacre of the innocents” happened. Herod did have killed many people but there’s nothing to suggest wholesale slaughter of infants and toddlers. If the sewers were close to brothels then male infants would be disposed of while female children would be raised into sexual slavery just like their mothers.

That happened to me! THIS is WHY I think Catholics are out of their effing mind!!! I was ABANDONED at birth, somehow, don't know too much, know I was in a bassinette at the Lutheran Social Service Agency. A wealthy couple bought me like a cabbage patch and my life has gone down hill every since. I should have been aborted! I don't wish my life on anyone! I 'ain't here to make friends or be nice!
Sorry
Yes, very sorry…
Interesting how fear has driven people to believe completely insane things. The fact that it STILL is happening today is unbelievable.
Agree

People studied in order to learn from them. Also archaeology is a type of cultural life after death. Different cultures though view things differently. It is good that many Native American graves (who were dug up and put in museums) -- when no one would do the same with white folks of similar vintage : It is good that many are being returned. Yet archaeology (diet, clothing, weapons, customs...) depends on being able to scientifically, and compassionately study.
Absolutely fascinating - I haven't seen anything I enjoyed so much in ages
just fyi, these archaeological digs often do a number on those that work on them. More often than not, when archaeologists stumble upon human remains, even in non tragic circumstances, they cease their activities and offer a prayer relevant to their own spiritual beliefs, for the deceased. Pompeii has to be doing a number on the people who are working it.

Its possible the babies were stillborn or had birth defects.
The one who gave birth while in the coffin. It's from the gases building up inside the mom as her body rots. That gas takes the root of less resistant. The gas pushes the baby out. Ironically they found there were illnesses that had symptoms that were vampire-like, such as really pale skin, appearing to be dead and "rising from the dead" along with having some animalistic like behaviors by craving and eating weird things. Other things were added on to the stories like fangs, turning into bats and not having a reflection. Legends and lore are usually based on some truth and stories were embellished over time.
