that's a very unique experience to ride in that plane, and there probably won't be many more to experience it

If I were alive when that plane flew into the sky, I'd be dead now.

should have given it to Shuttleworth to keep it flying...they have a number of nice replicas.

Yes a great idea but unfortunately not one the CAA were prepared to live with because had they been the team would have kept it flying if they could (it was of course never licensed in the UK and operated on a USA experimental license which after all that time the CAA were understandably unconvertable with)

Why take off and land on grass when there appears to be a perfectly good tarmac?
Why may the Vimy not continue flying? After all it is not an original but a more recent replica.

The aircraft was much more at home on Grass and of course when it flew across the world it often had to use grass. To your second point it was certified on an American Experimental License which should have expired many years before, but the museum kept extending it until the CAA gave them an ultimatum (in the nicest possible way they could). You can see it last trip (along with a few others) at www.andysvideo.com. The aircraft had served its purpose and recreated 3 great flights, but without huge funding that is not there at the moment and lots of hard work, it is unlikely it will fly again.

....Funnily enough, a few weeks ago i heard an unfamiliar sounding a/c, and looked up to see a large slow twin engined machine, either a high wing monoplane or a biplane, too far away to clarify the planform...The engines were out of phase in just the same way as this replica Vimy.
    Hmm...!

Add/Fix landing lights in front of the aircraft.
