Most of these murim manhua are just power fantasies where the MC is challenged by forgettable side villain 137 and then we get a fight that ends in seconds before going back to gather black lotus extract, 1000 heavens herb, and some other corny nonsense to make medicine to open meridians. If the story is primarily gathering medicine, meditating, and having throwaway characters arbitrarily fighting the MC just to show how strong he is then it gets boring REALLY fast. The only good one I have ever read was 'Tales of Demons and Gods' but even then I grew tired of the same things.

Enjoyed the manhwas and story just not a fan of the forced romance that’s honestly unnecessary smh and just a rant not involving the story but I wonder why these type of manhwas are rarely accurate with combat 🤔. I got the powers, women able to trade blows with men, flying, and unarmored is unrealistic but can they at least get accurate with weapons during historical stories for once 🙄. No one only uses a sword in a war by itself at least not without being accompanied by a shield during war even in Asia. That’s like bringing a knife to a gun fight 🤓 lol. Everyone knows polearms and spears are superior. Sword wielding without a shield is last resort weapon when above mention weapons are lost (basically when you’re screwed).

@@damonyoungblood5488 I wasn’t looking for a argument I was just saying if you have a big enough sword that can be used to knock opponents off their guard that have a big shield, or just use sword techniques that are only accessible with no shield to open up weaknesses in a persons defense

Most of those big swords were more about symbolism or show of power than actually being useful in a fight. Instead, warriors typically relied on axes and shields to hook onto enemy shields or slice through lighter armor, or they used maces with shields to deal serious damage to armored foes or even break their hands if they were hiding behind a shield. Shields are pretty powerful tools in battle. If someone’s just wielding a sword, they’re at a serious disadvantage against a shield user or any other weapon. A fighter with a shield has the upper hand and is likely to win 9 out of 10 times because they have a ton of techniques to create openings for attacks or to counter the sword strikes. Most sword techniques just don’t hold up against other weapons and are mainly there to help you survive long enough to grab another weapon or wait for backup. Think of a sword by itself as more of a last resort, like a handgun. Honestly, going into battle with just a sword is a risky move, and it should really be a last resort if you’ve lost your main weapon or shield.
