Several years ago I built a 12x 16 shed and built my own trusses without making a jig. Nothing but a big headache! Took two or three times as long! You were wise to build the jig. I watched the process you went through building your sawmill shed and I truly admire your determination! You ended up with a great design and useful working shed! I grew up on a small farm with a metal roofed barn and you reminded me how much I enjoyed listening to the rain while milking the cow!
@@DavidSauer-l5n years ago I worked for a guy who built sheds to sell and he had a similar jig, that’s where the idea came from, it’s so much easier. It’s so calming and peaceful to hear that rain for sure !!! Thanks for the kind words, often we don’t realize our own great accomplishments without someone reminding us, again thanks. Be well. ❤️
Good morning Russell, Looks like you had a great day. Your system building the trusses really saves a lot of time. The Saturday rain system that you experienced passed over us later in the day. Lots rain and some thunder and lightning. Have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍🍻
@@whenworkisplay it was a great day! We didn’t get too much rain and a little thunder and lightning. Seems to be the norm lately a few days of sun then hard rain for a day. Have a great week Ben thanks 😊
With. the rain on the roof all you kneed is a bed and you could have a good sleep. Thats a good use for your wood and a good money making venture....CHEERS
You’re getting down to business my friend. Yessir !! Them jigs sure do go fast for building truss I like it keeper going Nice tools u got looks like what I’m using 😁to 👍👍
You may want to try a heavy duty air powered staple gun. I use a 1" wide staple that is 1" long. I bridge the gap with 4 staples on both sides. It is faster and the staples are less expensive than screws.
When I was young I used to work next door building sheds and houses and that’s what we used to shingle the roofs and truss gussets, I’ve always wanted to get another stapler like that. Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
Anyone know if 2x4 meet code in texas for tall buildings like 24ft up. I'm just curious at what point do u have to start using 2x6 for roof I know anything taller than 14ft walls requires 2x6 I'm not sure on roof rafters
Overall, it is great to see that you build trusses with solid lumber. I have a couple suggestions about improving the truss. Do you want me to send an email to you?

Wouldn’t using pocket screws be easier and better than toe nailing them together?
Possibly, I started with nails now I’m using deck screws, always looking to improve the process. Thanks
Fast if you fast forward.
