- Are you curious about Ethiopian food & coffee and want to try it in London?
West London is home to a thriving Ethiopian community, with many shops and cafés dedicated to Ethiopian culture.
Our guide Sefanit showed us around the area and gave us an Ethiopian food guide, from injera to wat, even letting us try some unique dishes like honey wine and raw beef!
An Ethiopian meal wouldn't be complete without coffee- the coffee ceremony is a core cultural custom in Ethiopia and coffee grown around the world can be traced back to ancient forests in Ethiopia.

Where’s the Kitfo?? It’s so delish. If you’re ok with raw meat (if not, maybe ask for it to touch fire, it’s called lebblebb) anyway, it’s a well seasoned dish with butter and traditional spices. So yummy! Literally my fav Ethiopian food.

It’s not for everyone. The theoretical origin story was warriors used to eat raw meat while they were in the Forrest. They can’t cook because the smoke and fume would blow their cover they enjoyed it. Coming back from war they continued to eat it. Eventually it became a delicacy. Surprisingly enough it’s not bad if it’s cleaned properly. I loved it. I dnt know it’s more than just food for me it signals all the sacrifices the warriors made. But u dnt have to eat it if you want to try it you can but idk it holds history culture and tradition that is uniquely Ethiopian. It’s not for everyone by all means tho try it it’ll be like a fun little experiment. 😂 it’s odd but it’s my culture
Somali guy called ahmed gurey forced them to eat because somalis use to attack them consistently and ethiopian solders adopted to eat the meat raw with cheese and sauce it became part of their tradition and ahmed gurey was beated ethiopia army and portugal killing vasco degama son
