That was just incredible all the way around. Loved this! Great _______________.... !!! You could fill in the blank with instruments, vocals... Just Stellar!
Simply wonderful. Technique, talent, good taste and mastery of all the instruments... And the voices!... And the editing! A great pleasure to watch and listen to.
The level you have in each instrument and in each interpretation is worthy of admiration, at the height of the greats, a virtue that many of us would like to have.
Russ one of all my all time favorites...soulful, powerful, brooding sadness in the story being told...David Foster and Donny Gerrard should be proud of your efforts!
Sometimes Russ, you drive one outta the park - and this is a home run. I can hear a lot of the same inflection in your version and it's very very good - well studied and you got it! Congrats!
DAM! Great job Russ! One of my favorite songs of all time and You nailed it!!! Thank You. I am dumfounded at the breadth of your musical talent! I guess know what your favorite hobby is.
@@russwilloughby501 - Russ..i appreciate your vocal work on the song: mostly that you didnt try to jazz it up with vocal runs, but rather stayed true to the original. 👍
AMAZING VOICE!! Just beautiful! I stumbled upon your video(s) while looking for the original. I've since listened to your songs a million times :) I've just subscribed so I can hear more!
Dude! You're so talented. This kind of music is sorely missing in modern culture. Ya know everything doesn't have to evolve, some things can stay the same. Thank God for memories and music from the past. Good job man!
Russ, your mixing is so well done your covers sound even better that some of the original tracts. It's amazing that our home digital systems are better than what they had in studios back then. Not dissing the analog world though. It had, and has, a special place. You must be blessed with a really good ear to hear all of the nuances of the different instruments in these songs and reproduce them so well. It starts in your head. Also, great job on the leads in this one.
Thanks so much, Dave. The digital world certainly has opened a lot of doors. And even though I'm an old school analog guy when it comes to playing live gigs, the consistency I can get in digital recording eliminates a lot of hassles and saves time.
Hi Russ Hope you are well I was only 8 years old when this song came out, but my of my school buddies had a older brother that would play this every day after school Your version is brilliant and all i can say is that you have a great vocal range Keep on keeping on Greetings Leon South Africa 👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌💯💯💯👍👍👍
This song is never played these days, not on Classic Rock station or even Soft Rock Oldies. So it is really nice to see this in addition to your fine performance.
Hi Russ! I'll tell you "you blow my mind". I was working on "Never My Love" and looking for inspiration when I found your cover. (I also didn't know the title of this song and by who) Thank you . Greetings from Canada
Nice job Russ. This song is not easy to sing. One thing you left out of your description is that David Foster was in this band. The band is from Victoria, B.C. which is David Foster's home town. There is a theatre there that is dedicated to him in the Oak Bay Beach Hotel called the David Foster Theatre. This is where he started out before he moved to L.A. and became the 'go to' producer. This band was part of his humble beginnings! The other bit of trivia associated with this song is that Dave Richardson was a policeman in Victoria B.C. at the time he wrote this song.
Thanks so much! I knew about the Foster connection but - don't hate me - I can't stand the guy. Great producer, I'll give him that....and he likes to make sure everyone knows how great he is.
Russ your vocals on the last few posts have been amazing! And weren't Jaguars the classic surf guitar? As others have mentioned all these wonderful covers take us back to youth in the early 70s. I was 12 when this came out . I remember a local AM radio station here on Long Island WABC . .they would do a "Double Play" "Double Play" for the hit songs . . all of these great covers are getting double, triple and beyond plays! Thanks again!!
Hi Chris...many thanks; I always appreciate it so much! Yes, Jaguars and Strats seemed to be the guitars of choice for the surfer dudes. Tone-wise they fit the bill perfectly.....and they look cool. Gotta admit though...I never could figure out what all those buttons do!
That was just incredible all the way around. Loved this! Great _______________.... !!! You could fill in the blank with instruments, vocals... Just Stellar!
Russ Willoughby...Excellent!!! Seriously, you're a one man "Wrecking Crew!"
I appreciate it....thanks!

Wow, thank you! This was fun one to do (well, they all are..but this one especially).
