On June 30, 1985, NBC aired "Code of Vengeance", a spin-off of the original "Knight Rider" series featuring the character of David Dalton, who appeared in season two's "Mouth of the Snake". This movie is very loosely connected to "Knight Rider" and even features a few KR references - see if you can spot them!

You guys get that this is ROADHOUSE, right. Dalton, the mysterious drifter who knows a little too much, fights a little too well and keeps his distance... this dude is proto-Swayze.

Yup. I remember renting this on betamax format back in the 80s. Soon as I saw "Roadhouse" I thought there were similarities. I think there was even a sequel to this which I found to be more action packed, been awhile so I can't remember much except it involved going up against ex soldiers.

I absolutely love how you're presenting this from a VHS source. Growing up in the 80's I went through all the formats over the decades: VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu Ray and now of course 4K. However, VHS still holds a special place for me as I miss going to our local rental store and browsing the enormous catalog of movies to rent and bring home to watch over the weekend. Listen carefully for a few seconds at 41:14. It is K.I.T.T. talking to Michael. It is very faint in the background. The CC is even picking up some words from it. This movie is only similar to Knight Rider in that there is a male loner traveling form place to place helping people, and falling for the women.

It's very common for scripts to be re-cylced or outright reused. A lot of the 80's shows even reused the same script in the same week with different shows. Like.... Knight Rider would first use the original script and then it would be edited and proofed for Dukes Of Hazard, 6 MDM, or even Battlestar Galactica. They would just change minor details such as names and places and basically redress the story using different characters. If you watched enough 80's TV as I did, it became blatantly obvious at times.

You can see so many Larson heroes in this. Yes he's tall rugged dispensing justice and saving just about everyone. So he's like a Steve Austin, Michael knight, Highwayman with a pinch of Buck Rogers, Renegade mixed in..... that's just absolutely awesome. Should have had many more episodes.
