Nice Video! So I own a Konica Hexar AF and the problem you are describing obout the lag when you shoot or sometimes it does not shoot is due to the electronic shutter button. The physical button under the plastic button has gone bad and has oxidized some. I believe the Hexar RF and AF share the same sutter button. I open the top of my Hexar to get to the sutter button inside and shot some electronic cleaner in it and it started working fine for a while. The Hexar AF group on Facebook has someone that is making a new electronic shutter button to replace the old faulty ones. This shutter issue is very typical on these Hexars.
I knew it wasn't my imagination or something I did wrong. I really had a feeling it could be something like this but so hard to tell in the moment. It's a shame we have to rely on electronics like this to keep such an awesome camera going. Honestly I would have kept it forever if I could but it just didn't seem like the best move for me after I knew I could make a profit off selling it. Anyways thanks for clearing this up for everyone!
Dude the portraits of the guy smoking are killer!
Hey Alex. I own an RF with zero shutter lag. A few notes on your video/review:
1- A yellow filter at night is not so advisable since it will hamper one stop from every shot.
2- It seems you had a problem with your shutter button. You can miss a shot if the camera goes to sleep, but that plus the lag convinces me the button or the electronic trigger might be malfunctioning.
3- For 28mm or wider it beats any Leica just because the viewfinder can be used without an external vf. Plus for us with eyeglasses, it’s a relief.
4- I find the loading film very fast and straightforward (better than my Leica).
5- My only grip with it, is when the camera sleeps, the shutter speed led scale on the vf turns off and it’s tricky to lit them without accidentally triggering the shutter.
Cheers, you got a few great shots with it.
Hi Garcia!
1. I know, I always use a yellow filter and always compensate exposure for it.
2. Yes it was likely malfunctioning. A reason I sold it off before it got worse.
3. Yes that's a major reason I bought it. So I can even shoot up to 21mm. Which I did often.
4. Yes although many times I had to readjust the leader so it can catch. Like most point and shoots.
5. Yes I agree.
Thanks!
Heh. So much anticipation! Out of all these shots, I really dig the one at 5:33 - great stock! I hope Fukuoka is treating you well, my friend!
I especially love the portrait session with the young man with the cigarette. “Professional 写真家なんですけど…PROFESSIONAL!”
Great video, some excellent shots. Love the portraits of the dude with the piercings.
I just got one last week along with the 35mm 1.4 sc also haha burning though rolls with it, so fast and easy to shoot. Touch wood I don't have the same issue you mentioned of the shutter not firing... Curious to see what your next move it... Good video!
This series is excellent, such an enjoyable watch!
I love you so much! I recently just found your kisluxs and i’m in love!! Your videos are so fun and you energy is just MWAH! keep living your life
First 4 images and I’m already hooked
I've been curious about this as a back up. Your street portraits with this were amazing and maybe convinced me....maybe.
New Alex vid let’s gooooooo
Two legends 🐐🥇🐐
There's so much energy flowing in the big cities, the scramble never gets old. The one thing I fell in love with after shooting with a fully mechanical film camera, is the instant shutter response. I doesn't feel the same using anything digital anymore 😂🥲
1:51 This is why this camera is my preferred choice to shoot 28mm with - for someone with glasses, it's either this camera, the Minolta CLE or the M6 with the 0.58x viewfinder magnification (hard to find, expensive).
Damn it I wanted this camera to be the one but I know that shutter lag would drive me mental! Thanks loved the video, makes me want to go to Japan.
Loving this series!
Great pics Alex
amo tanto esta serie, no veo las horas de que llegue la xpro a este formato
Saludos brother gracias
I feel super fortunate to have this camera, it really is so gorgeous. I would be so gutted to have it stolen so I hesitate taking it out sometimes. The lens tilting up is definitely annoying unless I put a 50 on there and that ballances it out lol
福岡にまだいらっしゃるならいつかお会いしたいです😍

Hi Alex, great video! I own this camera and I absolutely love it!
By the way, which flash were you using with the Hexar? Love the results you were getting
Hi Alex, great video! I'd like to see how you'd like the Hasselblad Xpan for street. If you come to London you can borrow mine for a review.
Enjoyable video, as always. Just don't get the obsession with smoking. I smoked for 35 years and quit, but the damage was done.
Can you do one video with single use cameras? ILFORD ILFOCOLOR RAPID
Love it
Hey Alex, Could be so cool that You use an old lumix, I use a lot my lumix lx2, and lx3, And always happy with what The give. Now I am using a Lumix tz3 too, And very cool results. I am sure that You can find this models or similars there, :)
If you have a change could you do voigtländer bessa r4m or r4a ranking some time? Very curious of those.
That shutter lag worries me...
Nikon F5 and/or F6!
hexar RF is majestic
Man when did you shoot this? It's hot as hell out now and y'all are wearing jackets
I never release videos within the season, let alone within 6 months. I hate editing videos.
I have three questions:
1. Are you chewing gum the whole video?
2. So the camera was using film?
3. What's your go to camera you feel most at home with?
next up, the Nikon F4.
*gives virtual forehead kiss to you for making these*
Don't enable me.
I’m using the Hexar and I had the GR…I think that the RF is way better than the GR
