@@johnathanlewis2049 Hello Johnathan. Great to hear from you, my friend. Thanks for watching. I hope you and your family are well. Have a great week and stay safe!
Again… just love watching your operations! But, like our friend Scott, I really liked your picture of the real Cedar Heights Clay Co. ! I think one of the best parts of this hobby (and the videos of it) is when viewers recognize and comment on things they see presented. It really is most ‘rewarding’ when folks see the ‘realism’. And both you and Scott certainly accomplish that!! Thanks again for sharing with us! Stay warm and healthy!
@@johnpetrovitz935 That is a really nice comment, John. Thank you. I don’t know if you are old enough to remember the old commercials with Ella Fitzgerald (!) about cassette tapes ( again , !) where they asked ‘Is it real or is it Memorex?’. That is the type of modeling that inspires me anyway. Space constraints usually make it impossible to do it exactly, but when people recognize it, I find it very rewarding. Thanks for lumping me in with Scott! How many people model electric railroads in any scale much less N scale? Besides you of course! What he is doing is remarkable. It’s definitely a compliment to me even if he never speaks to you again!😂 Warming up here, not exactly summer but it’s a welcome change. Have a great weekend and stay safe!
I remember those cold train watching days in my teens during the 1960s before having a car, patiently waiting for a branch line train that ran near our home. I would brave the cold and snow to a point, but definitely not in wind chills like you were having in your neck of the woods. Brrrr...
@@shortliner68 I couldn’t have done it unless I could wait in the truck. Just too cold. Thanks for sharing your memories. Have a good Sunday and stay safe.
Hi Thom, Always enjoy switching in Oak Hill. Really is a fine example of how much operations you can have in a small footprint. Have to again say that your representation of Cedar Heights Clay is exceptional. Wonderful to see the picture you inserted to compare to. Still is my favorite structure you have scratch built. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Scott
@@kahunatiki6498 Hi Scott. I think Standard Elevator is my favorite because I could model the entire main structure faithfully. Nice to start a weekend with some operations, Thom. I was going to ask about the blue Ford pick up. I bought some 3D printed '78 Ford Granadas and Fairmonts from Shapeways before they went under. That's about the time I'll be modeling on my switching layout.

Good Saturday Morning Thom, Very neat a photo from Allen's son Brad. From what I can see in the photo, you did a great job of modeling the Cedar Heights Clay building and just had to alter the location of the road. I'm guessing the crane boom seen in the background is at the Charrington Scrap yard? Currently it looks like Resco Products is in the original Cedar Heights Clay building? And Cedar Heights Clay built a new structure down the road? All the sign says at the entrance to the newer structure is "Mine Site" What's also interesting is the "New Building??" on the curve has cross bucks still painted on the road in the Google Earth Image dated November 2023, but there clearly are not any tracks in the pavement. Yes Brian is a good guy and I usually see him at the Altoona N Scale Weekend. Brian has several different vehicles from several different decades which is great for me as it's hard to find early to mid 1960's automobiles and early to mid 1970's automobiles. Classic Metal Works now owned by Round 2 does make some 1967 Fords and 1976 Buick wagons, So Brian's models fill in the missing gaps very nicely. Another great ops session Thom and I look forward to next weeks video and yes we still need to take our tree down as well 🙃Cheers, Rich S.
@@RWSBaden Hi Rich. Resco bought out Cedar Heights Clay. You are correct, that is Charrington Scrap in the background with the crane. I think the building that you are talking about further south is an old brick plant. Does it have a large smokestack in the back that says ‘Plibrico’? When I took pictures in the 80’s, there were still 2 beehive kilns there, which was the inspiration for me leaving 2 at Charrington Scrap. I’ve seen a picture where they were loading clay into Chessie open hoppers there. I guess Resco bought it, too. If I wanted to backdate the layout, Oak Hill would easily fill a room with the 5 brick plants and the clay plant. I’ll have to check out those cars, thanks. Don’t work too hard and stay safe!
