Hello, I am new in the topic of electronics. Could you please help me and explain the role of the transistors and the diodes in the circuit? Thank you very much!

I like the concept. I'm guessing that the overpush-latching-ON mechanism (as combined with the overpush-latching-OFF) would be confusing to someone who's reading the braille. I'm guessing that it would be better if it could latch without always pushing, if that makes sense.

so what did you do about punctuation and in particular words and spaces would u have to do 2 pushes to reset the ratchet down so they would all be off?

Hi Tinashe, I'm trying to do a similar braille solenoid project to help people in my country to have access to it. Can I contact you to know how you built this prototype?

    Hiiii Tinashe.
I appreciate the help that you have already provided
I am working on a major project for Blind Assistance and would love to use your design to implement on my project.
If you could help me reach you out for the files and schematics.
    I'd be grateful.
    Thank you :)

Approximately how long did it take you to create this? price range of materials ?

It was a semester project/class (including learning solidworks). I had to buy the arduino-board and solenoids (total ~$50). I got the springs from a machine shop, and used click-pens for the cam-follower system. The chassis is 3D printed.

Jumbluto7 what about the solinoid.. Didnt the solinoid cause any mutual attraction?

Bidhov Bizar Fortunately, there was no 'observable' or problematic mutual attraction between the solenoids. This may be due to the spacing between the solenoids, the small voltage used, effective metal shielding on each solenoid or the split-second activation time required for the operating solenoids. However, there was no attempt to observe the effect of mutual attraction/inductance of the solenoids or the resulting effect on the device's operation.

***** Is there any way of getting in contact with you in building this prototype. We are looking to build this for a full refreshable braille display. It would be great if we got in touch.
