    Hey everyone, if you find my videos helpful, giving a thumbs up is the best thing you can do. Other than that you can show you support by:
    1. Watching the video all the way to the end, even if 2x speed
    2. Subscribing
    3. Being active in the community tab th-cam.com/users/TwinBytesInccommunity
    4. Joining as a member
    5. Giving a thumbs up. (Yes I said it again, very important) :)

    Great tutorial. I've been using Cobian Backup for about a decade. I know it is discontinued so I searched for its successor and found out about Reflector. And immediately went to TH-cam to see how it looks like. I am pleased to see the GUI is pretty the same. :-) BTW this video is a year old and at the time of this video making the Cobian Reflector was available in version 0.9.50 beta. Right now I see version 2.3.7 on the Cobian website which is remarkable.
    I currently use Cobian Backup 11 (Gravity) and it works without flaws. But right now I am doing compressed backup of my files and I noticed it only uses one core of my CPU. So I'm gonna give Reflector a shot and see if it uses better compression library that can use multi-core processing. :-)

    P.S. - As I read it, _Cobian Reflector_ is not a rebrand per se, but a _completely new backup program._ Being developed/written by the original author of _Cobian Backup_ program, which he _sold_ back in 2014. But, I suppose _rebrand_ does -kind of- work. ✌

      You're welcome. It is a bit confusing because it's supposed to be a rebrand because he did sell Cobian Backup, however it's using the same website, by the same developer and links to the old software. But it's supposed to be a new program, and it looks exactly the same. Either way, I love the software.

    Suppose I want to back up certain folders on my Windows laptop and want to keep only the latest version of the folders, what would be the best way to use Cobian Reflect? In incremental mode? I would like deleted files to disappear from the back up as well! Should the first backup be done in incremental mode as well?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Differential or incremental will work for you, but there is no automatic deletion of files from a backup. There is no way to delete files from backup that were deleted from the computer. The point of backup is if something got deleted by accident or a virus or hacker, you don't want it deleted from the backup before you have a chance to recover it.

    Hi, thanks for your video !!
    I was trying to do a backup as you explained, from my Google Drive virtual drive to my D drive.
    For some reason it failed.
    Can you explain how to do it?
    I'm unable to transfer Google Drive to drive D so it does not work.
    So I have two questions.
    1. Do you know if it is possible to transfer Google Drive to a normal drive or does it have to be on a virtual drive?
    2. If it has to be virtual, is there a way to get around it and make a backup? Maybe in another software?
    I would really love your help

      You're welcome and thanks for your question. I have seen this issue before but haven't tried with Google drive in some time now. I believe the only files that won't copy from Google Drive are Google doc type files. Other files on Google drive should backup, but it will exclude the Google Doc type files. That's probably what you notice and the only way to backup those documents is using Google TakeOut, which I have a video on, or if you have the Google Business services, you can pay for Google Backup services.

    • @Studio-Jackie

      I have no Google Doc files at all.

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you need the Google Drive app on your computer to have the drive to copy from and it should work. Some people will say you don't have to backup online storage, but if you get hacked and those files are delete or encrypted with encryption virus, and you don't have a backup, then you'll be out of luck there.

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like it might be a little long but really depends on how much has changed since the last backup. Incremental should be a fraction of the time the full backup took. Not just half. I haven't tried incremental backups with this yet as I usually recommend full unless you don't have the time to run full every day.
      I believe something is not right with this and not sure if it's a bug in the program or a misconfiguration on your side. Maybe someone else can comment on their experience here.
      It is in Beta version though, so it's not expected to be perfect yet.

      what I recommend is having more than one backup drive, so if something happens to one, you have the other. Then you can simply delete the one backup drive, take a new full backup, which you should do every so often anyway. Simple and clean. No complex settings.

    I have attempted to try to move windows to ssd and I’m not so sure what I have done wrong. Initially, my windows was downloaded in my C drive as I have not yet bought an ssd at the time of when I built my pc, it was only about a month ago that I bought my ssd as booting windows was really slow for me. From what I have read online, I needed to make a backup for my c drive just in case something went wrong when moving my Windows. I then cloned my C drive into the same drive since I had a little bit more than a whole TB left in my HDD. Looking back at it, I know for sure that is where I have gone wrong since I should have gotten like an external storage to put in my backup or something along the lines of that. For some reason, the cloning process took me over a day, I didn’t know if it was because of my slow hdd or it was because it was a little bit below 1tb to clone (the answer to that is probably simple, but I am new to this.) After the whole cloning process is done, I went to my Disk Management and couldn’t find my backup anywhere as I thought that that backup would have been in its separate column in my HDD. What can I do to fix it?

    • @TwinBytesInc
      @TwinBytesInc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment but I can't offer free troubleshooting here. if your existing drive still works, try cloning again. Don't just clone C drive through, there are hidden boot partitions. You need to clone the entire drive. The new SSD must be the same size as the old drive, or it won't fit. There are different methods you can use, they can all work. You can do it!

      @@TwinBytesInc thank you. What I meant to ask was if watching the Reflector video will give me pretty much what I need to know to download Cobian 11 and set it up to work for me? With Windows 7 it seems that Refletor won't work for me so I have to go for Cobian 11 at the present time. I use to have Cobian before it was sold. All I knew is that it suddenly stopped working. I've never replaced it with a back-up program and when I try to back up through Windows I can't do so (get something like 'Task Manager' is corrupted' - or something like that) so I have to download something to back-up my computer pretty quick ( haven't done so since Cobian was sold) and knew the old Cobian, and it was real simple for my simple needs, so thought this would be a good choice. I do have a couple questions due to my lack of knowledge that you may be able to help me with - do these programs back up all the files I have set up in my Thunderbird Email program (the mail originally comes through Gmail to Thunderbird) when it copies 'all of my files'? Secondly - does this program do a Mirror image and is that needed by someone like me who is not a 'company' and probably doesn't use my computer that much compared to most folks... ie, no gaming, next to no aps, but quite a few files of photos of my art and refererence photos for painting from and the numerous other files with information collected over the years. I have 338 GB free of 465GB on my Local Disk (C:) so I guess I'm not using much 'space'. I will be saving a full copy to a 500 GB Toshiba removable drive (or whatever its called) and deleting older copies when I need to do so to make room for newer ones. I will probably run the backup once a month or so. My apologies if this is taking up too much of your time and I appreciate any time you may have but understand if you don't. After all, these kinds of questions are probably not what you generally get asked.

    Nice tutorial ... well scripted and demonstrated. BUT ... your presentation is marred by terrible voice over audio. Despite using a pop filter, you are speaking too close to the microphone and blowing right through the filter. Proximity effect is causing a low boom boom boom from plosives and a lot of sibilance from sss-es shhh shounds. This is very distracting and you would would MUCH more normal, natural, and pleasant if you just backed about 4-5 inches away from the microphone and spoke a few degrees off axis so the plosives and sibilants sort of glance off the mic, instead of being blown right into it. My credentials? I am a professional recordist and independent microphone product adviser and review to microphone and computer software vendors and programmers dealing with audio, especially computer audio and speech recognition applications for more than 2 decades. PULEEEZE ... just back up a little and stop speaking directly into the microphone. It will make you sound much better and get your message across without distracting extraneous sound. Good luck and be safe and healthy. JT

      @TwinBytesInc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your compliments and feedback. I agree and the problem is I'm very low spoken, so when I'm too far from the Mic, I can't be heard well. I will try for my next video and soon I'll be upgrading my mic again to address volume issues while far from Mic. The current Mic I have is useless if far from it.

    • @JR-lx8nn

      @@TwinBytesInc - Roger all points. I might suggest the CAD Equitek E50 microphone which is clear and articulate and looks good. List price is $150, but B&H PhotoVideo occasionally sells it for $49.99, making it a real bargain for a 34mm true condenser.
      And yet, you have have a good voice, with sufficient volume. You could improve clarity and articulation, just adding 4-5 inches between you and the mic and speaking slightly off axis (maybe 20 degrees) which will minimize deep plosives, puffing, popping and sibilance. It would reduce excess bass caused by proximity effect - you want to sound natural - neither too much bass, nor thin and anemic by sitting too far away - just find the sweet spot between sounding full and maintaining clarity and articulation. Why do I make this suggestion: Contrary to the popular tune, speech communication is not "all about that bass." Nearly all speech intelligibility (your message) is conveyed from 500 to around 3500 Hz - which is why telephones, ham radios, military radios, etc., are limited to that range of frequencies. Bass below 400 Hz consumes a lot of speech energy, and conveys just 5% of speech intelligibility. While consuming less energy, frequencies higher than 3500 contain harmonics that sound good, but contribute very little to intelligibility. That is why paging and communications microphones are typically rated for 400 to 6000 Hz. Now, I am not suggesting your want communications grade audio, or that you restrict your message to a mere 3500 Hz - I am merely suggesting all that bass and proximity effect gets in the way of your message. A microphone with a response curve from 20 to 20,000 Hz is really ill advised doing voice overs,. That is why "vocal performance" microphones typically range from 80 to 13,000 Hz. I acknowledge some guys emulate Howard Sterns, adding compression and other processing, but they do not sound natural and articulate. YOU, however, seek to persuade and communicate a message. Why not tailor YOUR sound to achieve greatest clarity and persuasion? You have a good voice, with sufficient volume - I merely suggest a minor adjustment in tonality would go a long way toward improving your ability to convey a message. Listening to heavy bass is tiring, and distracting. So, maybe you try adding a little distance between you and the mic and see how that sounds. I am betting it will be a big improvement at no cost and better convey your message. It is not like you need a total makeover! And that is just my take - I will check back later to see what you come up with. Happy trails. JT

      Thank you. I think for me, it will make a huge difference switching from my current Snowball USB microphone to almost any analogue mic. I'm looking to get one with volume control on the mic. it will make for a good review comparison.

    Dude, get the mic out of your face.

      Thanks for the honest feedback dude :) This video is 2 years old and I've changed since then. The mic was not picking up audio properly and I was holding off buying a new mic.
