and that hide and seek version as well.

For Balkan region weakness, try this:
    - Croatia (Hrvatska) only has a lot of coastline cities like you had in the game (Split, Zadar etc). If you can see a palm tree, and usually rocky houses you are definetely in croatia. If you are in the area around Zagreb you will find more modern houses (bricks are not visible like in Serbia)
-Slovenia is very clean country, modern and it is a bit hilly compared. If you have something written on the road, that is a great clue for Slovenia.
    - Serbia is not in the EU, so the plates are not blue compared to Bulgaria. In Serbia it is common to see cyliric alphabet with latin, which is very rare in Bulgaria.

Big improvement from last week holy.
You should look into camera generations as those can be very helpful in narrowing down certain regions of the world (eastern Europe, latin America)
Also look into which countries use cyrillic alphabet.
For northern Europe, learning what the word for street is could be helpful. "iela" in Latvian, Lithuania will usually just use "g." as abbreviation, vej is in Denmark, vägen for Sweden, etc, saw these show up quite a lot.

    • @isakoolsson

A quick tip for all the finnish places, if you see signs with finnish and under the finnish writing also swedish, it's most likely Helsinki (could be Vantaa, Espoo and Turku also which are the the biggest major cities in the south), or basically for someone who doesn't know the languages, if there is two languages on top of each other. It could be a couple of other cities in the west coast but very unlikely. Also if you're getting any big city vibes, it's almost 100% Helsinki.
And a second one: you recognize finnish language from swedish, if it looks less like german or even english it'll be finnish rather than swedish and if it's somewhat similar to (more german less english) it's more likely to be swedish.
    Keep up the amazing vids👍

    • @beautaeful
      @beautaeful 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

Another niche tip for finland region guessing is the regional road digits. Starts from Helsinki with 1xx and goes up to 9xx in Lapland all the way north of finland. So if you're on regional roads and theres a 3 or 4 digit number on the side of the road, look at the first number and u'll know basically the region code.

  • @WhiteLama
    @WhiteLama 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

I’ve given you these tips before, like a few years ago when you played GeoGuessr.
Because of our very similar architecture and climate, it can be hard to differentiate between us. If there’s mountains it’s not Denmark or Finland (and likely not Sweden).
But for Scandinavia (and Finland) the letters on signs can be a very good giveaway.
Denmark and Norway uses æ and ø and å. And small street names in Norway end with gate or vej, while Denmark uses vei.
Sweden uses å, ä, ö (nothing in the letters, only above) and our small road names almost always ends with vägen or gatan (longer words than the other languagues).
Now, then comes Finland, the curveball. See, they can also use the Swedish way for streets (especially in the bigger cities on the coast), or they can use Finnish words like tie or katu. And of both Swedish and Finnish is prevalent, it’s always Finland.
But Finnish also have a crazy way of throwing too many letters into words. A LOT of double-letters in words, like kk, aa and such. But they absolutely love using ä/Ä.

It’s the indigenous flag of the Guna people in northwestern Panama.
Even before the Reich, the swastika was already a popular symbol across the world that dates back to many millennia ago , especially across Vedic traditions(Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism) and Indo-European customs. It was widely known as an auspicious symbol, one that was intepreted to bring good fortune.
But seeing how Panama is in Latin America and not Eurasia, it’s incredible and mind-blowing to know that the symbol exists in those lands as well.

53:00 in Japan u can look at the utility posts for the reflector pads. Plonkit's website has the pictures of the different ones, but TL;DR: Tokyo has no reflector pads, so you know immediately it's the Tokyo region. Gray and white reflector is Tohoku, which is Northern Japan, but below Hokkaido. Hokuriku only has 3 horizontal black and yellow lines. Rest in south are small differences, but all of the rest are black and yellow reflectors.
Probably the biggest clue about japan...
You can also find red roofing commonly in Chugoku/Kansai area.

Meta for Taiwan and Malaysia. Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet.
In Taiwan, a lot of houses' gates/doors are stainless steels framed, Taxis are bright yellow with either silver/black underskirt, and a lot more motorcycles. Different from Hong Kong/Macau, their taxis are red and less to none motorcycles.
As for Malaysia (I'm Malaysian). Besides the 2 sections number plate. a lot of shop's signboard has 3 languages(English, Malay, Chinese). Capital is KL, second and third largest cities are George Town, Penang or Johor, Johor Bahru. George Town has a tall tower in the city centre called KOMTAR, that's another thing to look out for. KL has Twin Tower and a lot more highways in city centre. Can't help you with rural Malaysia because they pretty much looks similar in the whole country :D

    Metas for the Baltic states:
flat, very wooden, no cyrillic, a lot of post soviet apartment blocks and "A" style electricity posts
Latvian and lithuanian are very similar, but latvians dont have the letter "y", but lithuanians do.
In Latvia you'll see place more often end with just "s" (example Ventspils), while in Lithuania there's more "as" (example Kaunas)
Estonian is just more similar to finnish, so if you know how finnish looks than you'll know estonian
    hope this helps

    Cyrillic tip:
If you are in a place that uses the cyrillic alphabet, an easy way to figure out at least the general region would be by looking at the car plates. Bulgaria is the only country in the EU that's using it, so a combination of cyrillic signs and blue on the plates means you're there. If there's no EU plates, you should head towards Ukraine, Russia, etc.

Portugal license plates often have a yellow strip on the right side of the plate. It is like the same thing as the european blue side. I believe only Portugal has this. Nice tip for these city locations

    tips for Canada,
    - if the street name signs are blue, you are most likely in Toronto
    - most of the population is in the south region towards the lakes, in line with Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, unless in complete rural areas.
    - if there is a good mix between english and french it can be Ottawa which borders Quebec and Ontario, and is parliamentary
love seeing my cities in these videos :)
