Even if basically every industry was entirely knackered this year due to covid, including the videos industry, we at least still got plenty of really solid games this year. Some of my favorites definitely include Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Persona 5 Royal, Crash 4, Doom Eternal and my personal GOTY, Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And there’s still plenty of wonderful games this year that I have yet to play but definitely plan to do so, like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Hades, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Ghost of Tsushima.
In all fairness, HW:AoC does NOT depict the exact occurrences that happened during the Great Calamity because most of it exists within an alternate timeline. The game itself does make excellent use of the original source material, and it has certainly wet the fans appetites for the upcoming sequel to BotW!
"[L]ast great PS4 Exclusive..." ...We'll let that stand, only because 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim (Western release date: September 2020) technically released in Japan during November of 2019. That said, you might want to look into it if you haven't already done so as Vanillaware is basically the Japanese analog of SuperGiant Games and a lot of people consider 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim to be their magnum opus in a catalog filled with top tier games.
This is already a better representation of the year in gaming than the Game Awards. Personally, my favourite game of the year wasn't even a new game. It was a remaster for a game that I had been DESPERATE to play *TY the Tasmanian Tiger.* Don't sleep on it, guys! It's a classic for a reason.

One of my favourite Ghost/Sekiro moments, was watching a person playing Sekiro, and commenting how the game had been drastically downgraded from the E3 build. Until he was told that the game he was thinking of was Ghost of Tsushima. I remember thinking Ghost of Tsushima might be a PS5 exclusive, the trailer looked so beautiful. Walking around in that world, when I started, I had trouble stopping myself from just staring at the scenery, completely forgetting to play the game.

For me, my GotY was Paper Mario The Origami King; loved the world, the battle system, the music and the story (that moment between chapter 2 and 3 really got me). I get why it doesn’t please old school Paper Mario fans, but I fall on the positive side of the fence for this game
My GOTY, which was honestly very hard to pick this year, was 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. While at times convoluted, the story was one of the most ambitious I had come across. That, and matched with Vanillaware's trademark art style and some really fun RTS gameplay made for an unforgettable experience all around. Some very close contenders included Yakuza: Like a Dragon, an excuse to replay Persona 4 Golden all over again with the Steam release, The Last of Us Part 2, and Nioh 2. This has honestly been one of my favorite years for gaming in awhile, where the only game I was even close to disappointed with was Final Fantasy VII Remake. Here's to hoping that next chapter feels a bit more fun and a bit less messy.

Is it weird that I anticipate these videos and writing my thoughts more than some of the actual games? Here goes: 10. I don’t think ANYONE was prepared for this game. Since BOTW 2 clearly wasn’t going to come out this year, this game was a great substitute. I don’t particularly care for these types of games, but I was actually intrigued by the plot this time, and I’m very interested in where BOTW 2 goes. 9. This is the best game in its series, easily. The original trilogy was really good, but feel a little trapped in the 90s. This is how all franchise revivals should be handled, minus the nightmare of 106% completion. It’s in my top five games of the year, personally. 8. I don’t have much to say on this one, other than that it’s just as great as the first game, and should have won Best Art Direction. 7. Eh, I don’t really care for this one. It’s a good game, but it’s in my least favorite video game genre. At least my sister and some of my friends got a lot out of it. I’m still flabbergasted that it somehow sold nearly 30 million copies in nine months. 6. I’ve never played this one, nor the first one, so I don’t have anything to say. I do like the name, though. It’s just fun to say. 5. Holy f*ck, this was absolutely fantastic. It’s my personal GOTY, and Square’s best game since Kingdom Hearts II. The combat is super fun, the story is much more fleshed out, the soundtrack is the best I’ve heard since Sonic Colors, and I just love almost everything about it. The next part can’t come soon enough. 4. Rogue-like games are something that I generally don’t like, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed this game. Greek Mythology has a ton of potential for awesome video games, so I’m very happy that this goes all-out with it. 3. More shooters should have a grappling hook. Actually, more games in general should have one. These guys would be crazy not to make another one, but I have no idea how they’d one-up this. 2. I don’t have a VR headset, nor do I have a functioning PC, so I haven’t been able to play this one yet, but I really wish I had. I’m just so happy that this franchise is back, and I’m glad that Valve actually decided to get up off of their asses and do something for once. Maybe they could do something with Team Fortress 2 sometime soon? Something tells me people want that... 1. Not my personal #1, but I do think this is the best game of 2020 in terms of pure quality. Sucker Punch really outdid themselves on this one. It looks so beautiful, combat is great, and I actually gave a sh*t about the story this time! That’s a miracle for an open-world game to do that for me. Fun fact: This is the first year since 2015 where Rabbidluigi’s GOTY doesn’t line up with the Game Awards. Three guesses as to what won there, and the first two don’t count.

I'd hardly call the situation with Doom Eternal's soundtrack Mick Gordon doing half a job. What happened is that ID got somebody else to mix some of his tracks and it wasn't up to Mick's standard. Mick stopped working with Bethesda because of that. The way you say it in the video makes it seem like he was let go, but that's not the case.
Sigh. It's no secret that this year was just awful in so many ways. Thankfully there were some good things that came out of it. Gamewise I definitely enjoyed doom eternal and Ghosts of tsushima as those were the ones I enjoyed the most. (Haven't played ff7 remake or age of calamity yet but would like to one of these days.)

Examples- ff10 blitz ball, star wars pod racing, rocket league, caravan in fallout, that weird game for snes where you have to get the ball through the exit and you have a "goalie" but it's all magic and wizard stuff, Jet set radio, The broom ball game from Harry Potter. Still gotta be Rescue Team DX for me, it's a beautiful and faithful remaster of a classic which doesn't stray away from what made the original so great, while also streamlining (adding polish to the mechanics introduced in Explorers onwards) the experience for newcomers. My only gripe is that it's a little too faithful and doesn't add a whole lot of new stuff for people who've already played it before + RIP Friend Areas - but I absolutely recommend picking it up if you're interested.
Hope Carrion gets at least an honourable mention. I spent most of this year working on my backlog, so not a whole of new games, but that game caught my interest right away and didn't disappoint. Edit: WAIT FUCK ORI 2 WAS THIS YEAR? Christ, that game was fucking great

My best games that came out in 2020! (In random order) 1. Animal crossing new horizons 2. Kirby fighters 2 Every other game else such as smash ultimate, Kirby star allies and splatoon 2 came out before 2020 but I played them still because mainly of the nostalgia that I get from these games.💗😊
I was hoping you had gotten around to trying 13 Sentinals: Aegis Rim, Rabbid, but it's okay. This game deserves a lot more attention. I've yet to buy the game (I still plan on it when I have the money), but from a story POV it would definitely make my #1 of the year One game I loved playing this year would Spiritfarer. This would be my indie pick for sure. This year I also finally got around to playing BotW and Mario Odyssey and while they won't be me fav from their respective franchises, I do love them. Of course I've been obsessed with New Horizons, it's definitely the game I've played the most. Another game I got this year was PS4's Altelier Lulua (a turn-based JRPG from the Altelier franchise). I was loving the game, but something happened that prevented me from finishing it.

I am pretty poor and as much as I love video games they can still be an expensive thing if I am not careful. I recently had to get new glasses and other more important things came up. I've been watching let's plays of it for now. Never even heard of the game until my fav let's player started playing it and the only reason he heard of it was because of the companies behind it since he's played games by Vanillaware and Atlus. Now I know I can't comment on the gamplay, but the story is amazing though!
Personally, my top picks for this year are (in no particular order): *No Straight Roads* (A unique concept for a rhythm game, amazing art style, memorable characters, fantastic soundtrack, and a great community!) *Command and Conquer Remastered* (Growing up playing C&C: Red Alert 2, it's amazing to see the C&C franchise again. Frank Kleplacki's music is still top notch!) *CARRION* (The greatest reverse-horror game I've played, good Metroidvania as well. I love games where you play as the villain!) Honorable Mention: *ULTRAKILL* (I wish I could put this with the others, but unfortunately it's still in Early Access, but the gameplay and demand for mastery of the game's combat made me keep coming back to it. Looking forward to the next two acts!)
Rabbidluigi doesn't do honorable mentions unlike the FieryJoker Yakuza would have definitely be a HM no doubt. Select 10 or even 15 best games of the year is a lot
What bothers me about FF7Remake is that you can't really refer to it as another "version" of FF7. That implies it's a good point to jump in if you're new, but it really isn't.
Kinda surprised to see HW Age of Calamity on the list but hey, it's your top 10. I'll admit, that game was kinda fun to co-op with my friend, even if the framerate was awful.
It may have been a miserable year, but I still had a lot of fun with games in 2020. Unexpected prequels and sequels, long-awaited remakes, a new indie darling and the perfect note to end the PS4's legacy on... yeah, can't argue with this list.
I love Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I beat the game three times. Once as a normal playthrough, just to enjoy it. A second time, to get anything I missed, go for Aerith over Tifa, get the Sword I missed, etc. Third time... I played on Hard mode. You know, it doesn't feel that hard, until Hell House busts your face in. Hell House was such a challenge to overcome, that the following bosses felt easy. I never felt like I struggled with them, because I just compared them to Hell House. Up until the last part. Sephiroth on Hard, when you're starting with less than half your magic... In the final part of the battle, I was rocketing from one character to another, spamming healing and reviving people constantly, as he nuked everyone. Focusing on healing and reviving, while getting in some attacks whenever I could. o-o So satisfying when I finally beat him.
"Wait a second, the best of the year videos are coming, are we really already at the end of the year?" Sucky year that it was, it feels like that weird sigh of relief you get when you've nearly beaten the final boss of a game, and you know you've just got the outro cutscenes to go through. Supposedly the vaccines will be here soon, let's just hope they don't create a secret final form.
Some games that didn't make this list, but I would consider a game of the year. Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which changes up the familiar Yakuza franchise with a soft reboot, but does it extremely well, and somehow still manages to harken back to its roots. If you are in any way interested in this game, then as I said, it's a good starting point or you could go with Yakuza 0. Genshin Impact: A mobile game that came out of nowhere for many, but one I've kept my eyes on some time before release. And even though I call it a mobile game, I play it on PC, but the absolute scale of this game, despite it being "just for mobile" gave me that sensation, which I feel like many people got from Botw, but I personally couldn't. I've been playing this game every day since release and it's crazy to me that it's free.
As someone who played the entire Henry Stickmin franchise and waited for the entire collection on steam for years. I was hoping it would make something on the list. Oh well. But I did recently play Ori and the Blind Forest after waiting for literally 5 years. I need the sequel. I really. Really need it.
You know what game I feel needs a bit more recognition? Risk of Rain 2, it's not the best in any particular category but it's kept me engaged for far longer than most other games I've played and I prefer it as a Rougelike over Hades.
I actually do remember March 20th well for a very specific reason. I went to the gas station that day to get a soda to mix with some rum, didn't have a face covering of some sort and got COVID.
Hey, another Rune Factory fan! I still need to finish the third story arc of that game; stuck in Rune Prana right now. I put it on hold to play Sakuna of Rice and Ruin, but I'm definitely coming back to it. RF4S has honestly ruined Animal Crossing for me; the lack of features and QoL touches that RF4S has makes New Horizons feel agonizingly slow and empty by comparison...
Animal Crossing is brutal once you complete the main goals. It becomes essentially a waiting game where you twiddle your thumbs while waiting for those last few recipes or last few fish or bugs. I try to get all the portraits from my villagers which can take weeks to months per villager. It’s gotten to where I’m just stuck in fall waiting for the leaf recipes to finally show up so I can move on. It’s gotten to where it’s more annoying than fun at this point.
Animal crossing is the perfect quarantine game, and even with how chill it is and all, they definitely got the monthly events to keep you preoccupied if you have nothing else to do, and 2020 had a lot of nothing to do.
While Animal Crossing is great, I found myself leaning more toward Rescue Team DX for its gameplay refinements over the original and personal nostalgic value.
honourable mention: No Straight Roads It's janky. It's buggy (especially in Co-op). It's short. But it's fun, has great designs, fun characters, interesting locations and a really good moral for its story. and honestly, isn't that enough?
I thought Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition was easily gonna be my game of the year, but then I bought the Switch port of Final Fantasy 7 early last week. I haven't beaten it yet, but I'm already wishing I had a PS4 so I could play that remake. The story just keeps getting more and more interesting, the characters are all spectacular, and the soundtrack is pretty good too (I just really wish there was more than one random battle theme). I'm not sure if I'd personally put FF7 above Xenoblade just yet, but it sure is getting there.
I’m STILL playing DOOM eternal as well. It has combat that’s so straightforward and smooth that I keep coming back. After 2016s DOOM, they definitely perfected the type of game they were going for so I wholeheartedly agree. Also, great content 👍

I'd say Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Doom Eternal were my favorite games of the year. Each filled a necessary void in me to help get past the true hell that was 2020.

@@benwasserman8223 Critics are the most biased, out of tune with reality people there are. That's why they were pissed that it didn't win players choice. It was riddled with political bullshit, and the dumbest, unrealistic story ever. Whether Abby's supposed to be transgendered, or just some stupidly beast of a woman, it's not realistic, because there's no way that she/he would look like that in a post apocalyptic scenario. Also the way they killed Joel off was a spit in the face of the fans of the first game. I loved the first game. They actually made you care about the characters in it. And the second one was lazy pile of filth. To put it nicely.
While 2020 had big trash fires like Avengers (2020) and Cyberpunk 2077, it was actually a pretty good year for video games looking back. At least 2020 gave us that.

Honestly, it really is a personal thing, your favorite game of the year. For me, I got thinking, and cyberpunk is certainly making my shortlist (despite people's overreactions in both directions), but honestly, I think crusader kings 3 of all things might be it, or #2. I just keep going back to it despite having other things I want to play. There's always that thought of "if I conquer that country, I can then wage war on that duchy to claim it all at once." Or "how the hell am I going to spread out my land so my heir isn't completely fucked?" Or the simple "how do I keep all of my greedy fucking vassals from becoming a threat to me?" Well, prison is useful for that last one. Hard to rebel when you're in jail. On the other hand, pikmen 3 has been lovely
I haven't gotten around to lots of these games (hope to soon) but XC:DE and Risk of Rain 2 were my GOTYs, just a shame that RoR2 was overshadowed by Hades in the roguelite category,

I never expected a Top 10 Best Games List of 2020 where the Last of Us Part II is not part of it.
Is it weird that I anticipate these videos and writing my thoughts more than some of the actual games? Here goes:
10. I don’t think ANYONE was prepared for this game. Since BOTW 2 clearly wasn’t going to come out this year, this game was a great substitute. I don’t particularly care for these types of games, but I was actually intrigued by the plot this time, and I’m very interested in where BOTW 2 goes.
9. This is the best game in its series, easily. The original trilogy was really good, but feel a little trapped in the 90s. This is how all franchise revivals should be handled, minus the nightmare of 106% completion. It’s in my top five games of the year, personally.
8. I don’t have much to say on this one, other than that it’s just as great as the first game, and should have won Best Art Direction.
7. Eh, I don’t really care for this one. It’s a good game, but it’s in my least favorite video game genre. At least my sister and some of my friends got a lot out of it. I’m still flabbergasted that it somehow sold nearly 30 million copies in nine months.
6. I’ve never played this one, nor the first one, so I don’t have anything to say. I do like the name, though. It’s just fun to say.
5. Holy f*ck, this was absolutely fantastic. It’s my personal GOTY, and Square’s best game since Kingdom Hearts II. The combat is super fun, the story is much more fleshed out, the soundtrack is the best I’ve heard since Sonic Colors, and I just love almost everything about it. The next part can’t come soon enough.
4. Rogue-like games are something that I generally don’t like, so I was surprised how much I enjoyed this game. Greek Mythology has a ton of potential for awesome video games, so I’m very happy that this goes all-out with it.
3. More shooters should have a grappling hook. Actually, more games in general should have one. These guys would be crazy not to make another one, but I have no idea how they’d one-up this.
2. I don’t have a VR headset, nor do I have a functioning PC, so I haven’t been able to play this one yet, but I really wish I had. I’m just so happy that this franchise is back, and I’m glad that Valve actually decided to get up off of their asses and do something for once. Maybe they could do something with Team Fortress 2 sometime soon? Something tells me people want that...
1. Not my personal #1, but I do think this is the best game of 2020 in terms of pure quality. Sucker Punch really outdid themselves on this one. It looks so beautiful, combat is great, and I actually gave a sh*t about the story this time! That’s a miracle for an open-world game to do that for me.
Fun fact: This is the first year since 2015 where Rabbidluigi’s GOTY doesn’t line up with the Game Awards. Three guesses as to what won there, and the first two don’t count.
All I know is drunkman is going to be angry at rabbidluigi here for not putting last of us part 2 on here. How could rabbidluigi not it's game of the year 🙃

I'd hardly call the situation with Doom Eternal's soundtrack Mick Gordon doing half a job. What happened is that ID got somebody else to mix some of his tracks and it wasn't up to Mick's standard. Mick stopped working with Bethesda because of that. The way you say it in the video makes it seem like he was let go, but that's not the case.
Mick took far too long to make the soundtrack and they needed it way sooner than he was taking. They didn’t really have a choice.

Sigh. It's no secret that this year was just awful in so many ways. Thankfully there were some good things that came out of it. Gamewise I definitely enjoyed doom eternal and Ghosts of tsushima as those were the ones I enjoyed the most. (Haven't played ff7 remake or age of calamity yet but would like to one of these days.)

Nice work dude. Hey, I have an idea for a top 10 or 5 list. Best/worst/weirdest/coolest sports/games in video games. Examples- ff10 blitz ball, star wars pod racing, rocket league, caravan in fallout, that weird game for snes where you have to get the ball through the exit and you have a "goalie" but it's all magic and wizard stuff, Jet set radio, The broom ball game from Harry Potter. Still gotta be Rescue Team DX for me, it's a beautiful and faithful remaster of a classic which doesn't stray away from what made the original so great, while also streamlining (adding polish to the mechanics introduced in Explorers onwards) the experience for newcomers.
My only gripe is that it's a little too faithful and doesn't add a whole lot of new stuff for people who've already played it before + RIP Friend Areas - but I absolutely recommend picking it up if you're interested.
Hope Carrion gets at least an honourable mention. I spent most of this year working on my backlog, so not a whole of new games, but that game caught my interest right away and didn't disappoint.
Edit: WAIT FUCK ORI 2 WAS THIS YEAR? Christ, that game was fucking great

I was hoping you had gotten around to trying 13 Sentinals: Aegis Rim, Rabbid, but it's okay. This game deserves a lot more attention. I've yet to buy the game (I still plan on it when I have the money), but from a story POV it would definitely make my #1 of the year
One game I loved playing this year would Spiritfarer. This would be my indie pick for sure. This year I also finally got around to playing BotW and Mario Odyssey and while they won't be me fav from their respective franchises, I do love them. Of course I've been obsessed with New Horizons, it's definitely the game I've played the most.
Another game I got this year was PS4's Altelier Lulua (a turn-based JRPG from the Altelier franchise). I was loving the game, but something happened that prevented me from finishing it.

I am pretty poor and as much as I love video games they can still be an expensive thing if I am not careful. I recently had to get new glasses and other more important things came up. I've been watching let's plays of it for now. Never even heard of the game until my fav let's player started playing it and the only reason he heard of it was because of the companies behind it since he's played games by Vanillaware and Atlus. Now I know I can't comment on the gamplay, but the story is amazing though!

Some of my favourite games this year are Doom Eternal, SpongeBob BFBB Rehydrated, Ghost of Tsushima and Crash 4.
Personally, my top picks for this year are (in no particular order):
*No Straight Roads* (A unique concept for a rhythm game, amazing art style, memorable characters, fantastic soundtrack, and a great community!)
*Command and Conquer Remastered* (Growing up playing C&C: Red Alert 2, it's amazing to see the C&C franchise again. Frank Kleplacki's music is still top notch!)
*CARRION* (The greatest reverse-horror game I've played, good Metroidvania as well. I love games where you play as the villain!)
Honorable Mention: *ULTRAKILL* (I wish I could put this with the others, but unfortunately it's still in Early Access, but the gameplay and demand for mastery of the game's combat made me keep coming back to it. Looking forward to the next two acts!)

Kinda surprised to see HW Age of Calamity on the list but hey, it's your top 10. I'll admit, that game was kinda fun to co-op with my friend, even if the framerate was awful.
It may have been a miserable year, but I still had a lot of fun with games in 2020. Unexpected prequels and sequels, long-awaited remakes, a new indie darling and the perfect note to end the PS4's legacy on... yeah, can't argue with this list.

I love Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I beat the game three times. Once as a normal playthrough, just to enjoy it.
A second time, to get anything I missed, go for Aerith over Tifa, get the Sword I missed, etc.
Third time... I played on Hard mode.
You know, it doesn't feel that hard, until Hell House busts your face in. Hell House was such a challenge to overcome, that the following bosses felt easy. I never felt like I struggled with them, because I just compared them to Hell House.
Up until the last part. Sephiroth on Hard, when you're starting with less than half your magic...
In the final part of the battle, I was rocketing from one character to another, spamming healing and reviving people constantly, as he nuked everyone. Focusing on healing and reviving, while getting in some attacks whenever I could. o-o So satisfying when I finally beat him.
So happy spelunky 2 made your list. It's probably my #1 this year. It's Soooooooooo good.

Sucky year that it was, it feels like that weird sigh of relief you get when you've nearly beaten the final boss of a game, and you know you've just got the outro cutscenes to go through. Supposedly the vaccines will be here soon, let's just hope they don't create a secret final form.

My most underrated game is Spirtfarer. It's very wholesome and laidback and it a shame it was released and no one outside of a few talked about it.
Persona 5 Royal and Xenoblade Chronicles were my GOTYs this year but ghost of tsushima and Rune factory 4 were great too
Some games that didn't make this list, but I would consider a game of the year.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which changes up the familiar Yakuza franchise with a soft reboot, but does it extremely well, and somehow still manages to harken back to its roots. If you are in any way interested in this game, then as I said, it's a good starting point or you could go with Yakuza 0.
Genshin Impact: A mobile game that came out of nowhere for many, but one I've kept my eyes on some time before release. And even though I call it a mobile game, I play it on PC, but the absolute scale of this game, despite it being "just for mobile" gave me that sensation, which I feel like many people got from Botw, but I personally couldn't. I've been playing this game every day since release and it's crazy to me that it's free.
Ghost of Tsushima made me cry multiple times O.O tbh. Yuriko story. And the ending. When Jin betrays his uncle
As someone who played the entire Henry Stickmin franchise and waited for the entire collection on steam for years. I was hoping it would make something on the list. Oh well.
But I did recently play Ori and the Blind Forest after waiting for literally 5 years. I need the sequel. I really. Really need it.
You know what game I feel needs a bit more recognition? Risk of Rain 2, it's not the best in any particular category but it's kept me engaged for far longer than most other games I've played and I prefer it as a Rougelike over Hades.
I actually do remember March 20th well for a very specific reason. I went to the gas station that day to get a soda to mix with some rum, didn't have a face covering of some sort and got COVID.
My GOTY is Rune Factory 4 Special. Revival of my childhood series! Also I didn't play alot of other games that released this year sooo..
Even though my personal favorite is FF7R and Persona 5 Royal, I've been playing the shit out of Rune Factory 4 Special lately. So underrated

Animal Crossing is brutal once you complete the main goals. It becomes essentially a waiting game where you twiddle your thumbs while waiting for those last few recipes or last few fish or bugs. I try to get all the portraits from my villagers which can take weeks to months per villager. It’s gotten to where I’m just stuck in fall waiting for the leaf recipes to finally show up so I can move on. It’s gotten to where it’s more annoying than fun at this point.
Animal crossing is the perfect quarantine game, and even with how chill it is and all, they definitely got the monthly events to keep you preoccupied if you have nothing else to do, and 2020 had a lot of nothing to do.
While Animal Crossing is great, I found myself leaning more toward Rescue Team DX for its gameplay refinements over the original and personal nostalgic value.

I thought Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition was easily gonna be my game of the year, but then I bought the Switch port of Final Fantasy 7 early last week. I haven't beaten it yet, but I'm already wishing I had a PS4 so I could play that remake. The story just keeps getting more and more interesting, the characters are all spectacular, and the soundtrack is pretty good too (I just really wish there was more than one random battle theme). I'm not sure if I'd personally put FF7 above Xenoblade just yet, but it sure is getting there.
I’m STILL playing DOOM eternal as well. It has combat that’s so straightforward and smooth that I keep coming back. After 2016s DOOM, they definitely perfected the type of game they were going for so I wholeheartedly agree. Also, great content 👍

@@benwasserman8223 Critics are the most biased, out of tune with reality people there are. That's why they were pissed that it didn't win players choice. It was riddled with political bullshit, and the dumbest, unrealistic story ever. Whether Abby's supposed to be transgendered, or just some stupidly beast of a woman, it's not realistic, because there's no way that she/he would look like that in a post apocalyptic scenario. Also the way they killed Joel off was a spit in the face of the fans of the first game. I loved the first game. They actually made you care about the characters in it. And the second one was lazy pile of filth. To put it nicely.
While 2020 had big trash fires like Avengers (2020) and Cyberpunk 2077, it was actually a pretty good year for video games looking back. At least 2020 gave us that.

Honestly, it really is a personal thing, your favorite game of the year. For me, I got thinking, and cyberpunk is certainly making my shortlist (despite people's overreactions in both directions), but honestly, I think crusader kings 3 of all things might be it, or #2. I just keep going back to it despite having other things I want to play. There's always that thought of "if I conquer that country, I can then wage war on that duchy to claim it all at once." Or "how the hell am I going to spread out my land so my heir isn't completely fucked?" Or the simple "how do I keep all of my greedy fucking vassals from becoming a threat to me?"
Well, prison is useful for that last one. Hard to rebel when you're in jail.
