I'd quite like to see a variant which is the "ultimate" multitasking test, where it's double online with 4 Joy-Cons, but one person controls the movement of one character and the attacks of the other, and then the opposite for the second player. For instance. Zach and Jordan could pick Wario and Lucina, where Zach uses the left Joy-Con for Wario and the right one for Lucina, and vice versa for Jordan. Perhaps the four of them could take it in turns.

No. It's just harder to focus in doubles. Some players who perform super consistently just completely throw in doubles. Sometimes, how you feel a certain day determines how well you play in doubles. I'm easily the best in my friends group by a wide margin and yet I will run into every smash attack in doubles.
