If God made anything more beautiful & special, then he kept it for himself. The culture, beauty, & people are unique, and surely A creators finest work !!. So proud to experience it first hand ( Hey, Take in the cultural music at any venue, or kitchen party ! )
My father was from Cheticamp, Cape Breton. That's at the start of Cape Breton trail. While visiting, I drove my daughter up to North Point at the northern tip of Cabot Trail. I cannot describe the incredible beauty and sense of peace and serenity.. I'd love to retire and live there, near family and new friends...
I grew up in Cape Breton. Took all that beauty gor granted. It was outside my window every day. It was normal. Now that I've been away for many years I realise how fortunate I was.
My heart was captured by this island years ago and I stay away from it so one day I can come back for good and be around lots of family and enjoy it for what it really is
I was born in Port Morien a little village by the sea. I often express, my love of Cape Breton by composing a song.Today, I realize this island was never intended to be a haven for big industrial operations. God, knew the only way to protect the beauty of his masterpiece was to keep large industries from destroying his precious work of art. Living away, you are forever drawn to this part of Canada, where you dread the thought of being asked, " When, will you be leaving?'' Home for Morien Memories, July 29-Aug 5th. Meet you there.
I met so many great folks there!! I prefer the warm waters of the Caribbean but Nova Scotia has so much going for it. The ocean, the forests, the music. Leaving is so hard to do.
I have been lucky enough to have found a good job allowing me to stay in Cape Breton. My brother who now lives in Ontario says " Cape Bretoners who live in Cape Breton will sometimes plan a vacation and go away. If you are a Cape Bretoner who lives away all your vacations are going back to visit Cape Breton."
They say 'envy' is a sin... Can't help it. I envy you. God will just have to grin at this one. I visited Cheticamp, Cape Breton in the summer of 2001 for a family reunion. My father grew up in Cheticamp, south end of the Cabot rail. I regret that it took so long to return...last time I was there was in 1959. Enjoy that paradise for me, would ya?
I'm a "Main Lander" but Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful parts of Nova Scotia.... So proud to be able to say that this is part of my home Country!
awesome ...just booked my ticket to come home in July for a visit...can't wait to see the beauty walk the beaches have a feed of muscles...remember natiele was out here two years ago for a concert...i arrived there with the cape breton flag in my purse and started waving it when she came on stage..... she was holaring out "where ya From" and i was hollaring back...Bras D'or.....she was saying she was there last week..lol my dear husband thought we have lost it. I thought it was great....
I'm from Isle Madame, Cape Breton, but I reside on mainland Nova Scotia. I go home often and no matter where I live, Isle Madame is "home". When I cross the causeway to Cape Breton the air is sweeter and the sky is bluer. Try it sometime...
oh i really want to go home now, i miss cape breton, the cabot trail, baddeck and Usige Ban Falls. maybe if i can get time off i can go there before the snow hits.
Well I very much hope you enjoyed your visit. I am in The NISH and Cheticamp so I guess you drove by! We had the MOST spectacular summer ever this yerar and that is going some as summer and fall are great here! Ciao!

Nova Scotians will argue that they are their own country and not a part of Canada but it's only in jest. They all love their country. They just say that Nova Scotia is the best part.
I remember when Nova Scotia won an award for being the best place to visit in Canada, At that time stores were closed on Sundays! Learn more about what really happened with Sunday shopping in N.S by going to our channel
If you saw a sign at the base of the mountain that said you will climb 1200 feet in the next mile.. unfortunately you went the wrong way to get the better experience. Been there many times since the mid 70's and only made that mistake once. :-)
I said it backwards, I meant I saw a sign at the top of Smokey that said I would descend 1200 feet in 1.3 miles. Thank you for pointing this out. I did go up Smokey but because I was only going Broad Cove to buy lobsters in 1976.
Fun fact about Nova Scotia, it was Confederated by Sir Charles Tupper, whom I am descended from, which baffles me seeing as I live in Australia, also, I like commas.
Awesome!!! I know Angelo!! but that's awesome!! the more people that know about cape breton and whats it all about is awesome!.. now if they researched "Celtic Colours International Festival"..lol..
There isn't a more beautiful place in the world!! People in Cape Breton are by far the friendliest that I have ever met.
