So, my fuel pump was going out. Limped it to the auto shop. They told me it was gonna be $323.00 parts and labor. No Shit, waiting in the waiting room for 10 mins I watched this video. Good thing they haven't started yet on my 300c. Stopped them, asked for my keys back. Drove it to Advance Auto parts... replaced it in under 15 minutes in their parking lot for only $135.00 part cost. Thanks bro!

Your comment is 4 years old, but what was your 300 doing to make you want to change it out? Just curious, mine is starting to act a little strange, and there was probably no maintenance done to this thing before I bought it used, and it has 122,000 miles. Thanks

I'm going to put this out there. I bought a new pump. put it in. didn't work. I got 12 volts at the harness. The new pumps are wired differently. Nowhere in the instructions did it tell me to switch the wires. The two bigger wires go to the pump. They are side by side originally. You need to snip the second one and the third one. So number two has to go to three and three goes to two. Tie them together. I can't remember but on the harness there are numbers that correspond with the wires. It may be number four switched with number three.
You can use the pump top from the bad pump if the factory wiring harness doesn't seat/connect fully on the new pump top. That does happen sometimes depending on pump manfacturer.
hey i noticed that you didn't use a brass punch when you got the locking washer off of the orifice...isn't that dangerous? your steel screwdriver could spark and ignite any fumes around

Hey +Jack Meyers if this fuel pump goes bad will it make the car shut off while driving on the road because my car just shut down and when I tried to restart it it just turns over but won't start
Big Dog Peck yes it will. You would have to do a fuel pressure test to be sure. When you first turn the key to the on position you should hear the pump come on
Jack Meyers ok I removed the gas line from the pump on the passenger side of the car and turn the key and gas is coming out line that goes into that pump. I then removed the gas line from the back of the Engine block and turned the key again and gas comes outta that line as well and when the key is turned to the on position you can hear the fuel pump whining so now I am wondering if this could be a timing issue. I think my car has jumped outta time I seriously need help and I can't move my car to get it to the dealership to get a diagnostic check done
Jack Meyers and I am sorry man thanks for all your very much appreciated information Jack I totally appreciate your trying to help me. Hey Jack Meyers I forgot to message you and let you know what was wrong with my car the tension pulley broke causing a piece of it to go through the timing belt make in my car job time so I had to change the timing belt tension pulley and well as the water pump. Thanks for all your help and advice it was greatly appreciated
You make it look so damn easy so I tried it myself. The metal ring was the only hard part. Took about 40 minutes to bang this loose but the rest took about 20 so all in was only an hour. I had no prior experience but I thought if you could do it one handed I've gotta be able to pull it off. Very impressed by your skills! BTW I did this job outside in the rain and only secured the metal ring. I have to wait for a sunny day to get this back to locked position. Is there a secret or do I simply have to keep banging away till it finally pops into place?
Why did you change your fuel pump was it taking too long to start and where you got the fuel pump from was brand you have how much you pay for it there are like 4 different brand of the same pump I don't know which one to buy.
Richard Carver I honestly not sure. Never worked on one. I think they are euro only. I would assume the diesel pump would be in the same location but there will be a bleed process involved. I'll see what I can find on it and get back to you
I did this job with a delphi pump today on this same year & model car. Just when i thought i was done the car didnt start and the new pump was not coming on. I was pissed. At that moment i realized what those butt connectors and plug that came with the pump were probably for. I had to cut the plug from the factory harness and splice the wires onto the delphi plug but in a different order than the order they were in on the factory plug. Hilarious delphi joke.
Hey I have an 06 Chrysler 300C. It’s a strong fuel smell when I pump more than half in my tank. Why do you think that is?? Do I need to replace the pump??? Thanks in advance
mario redd check the top of the pump. Just take the seat out and cover over the pump. I've seen them crack and small amounts of fuel sit on the top of the tank. That's where I would look first.
I have this exact issue. Did you ever find out what it was? I'm about to replace my whole damn emissions system and check every single hose on this car. It's driving me crazy not being able to put more than 2/3 of a tank without a strong gasoline smell in the cabin.

Excellent video.
Aftab Nuraney thanks I usually just keep tapping it until it locks. It can be a pain sometimes.
Or you can buy the special tool to help
Why did you change your fuel pump was it taking too long to start and where you got the fuel pump from was brand you have how much you pay for it there are like 4 different brand of the same pump I don't know which one to buy.
Struggling with the one hand but overall great video man lmao
How can you tell if there bad?
if the car struggles to start, or doesnt start at all, sometimes, the engine will stop suddenly
is it the same for the diesel?
Richard Carver I honestly not sure. Never worked on one. I think they are euro only. I would assume the diesel pump would be in the same location but there will be a bleed process involved. I'll see what I can find on it and get back to you
Jack Meyers thanks mate
No

My car stalled out and my fuel pump making a crazy noise and it won’t stay started . It’s gas in it but it won’t start. I have a 05 Chrysler 300c
Ya le cambie la bomba de la gasolina y me quedo un poco fallando .se tironea un poco.alguien sabra por que?
Paid a guy to watch your video as he changed mine 😏😂😂😂
What year is this 300? And is this process the exact same way on ALL 300’s of this body style no matter what engine it has?
From 2005 to 2010
what about the filter no one has that one i think i tried got a 2000 chrysler 300M
Hilarious delphi joke.
what year is this car
I believe a 2011 I have to go back to my work order to be sure.
Thank you so much man
I have a 1999 Chrysler 300m, is the gas pump located in the same spot?
Be careful guys. Do not mistake this video for working with a 2004 300m. No access port under the seat. Tank must be dropped.
