In Days of yore, From Britain's shore Wolfe the dauntless hero came And planted firm Britannia's flag On Canada's fair domain. Here may it wave, Our boast, our pride And joined in love together, The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined, The Maple Leaf Forever. The Maple Leaf Our Emblem Dear, The Maple Leaf Forever. God save our Queen and heaven bless, The Maple Leaf Forever.

@@Pikabo0 The timing of the changes doesn't have any relation to liking them. I'm hardly raging against the machine here, only pointing out that I prefer the original.
@@Pikabo0 Under what motion? hardly anyone I've met who actually cares about this anthem accepts the watered down revisionist lyrics, and almost every performance I've heard outside of these few lame events uses Muir's lyrics. It would be like changing the deep and passionate lyrics of La Marseillaise to happy pastures and rainbows.
You cannot even explain how disrespectful this is, to completely oversexualize the old Anthem and treated with indignity by how they treated the RCMP red surge.
this was not "our old anthem". prior to o'canada, canadas only anthem has EVER been god save the king/queen. it was just a popular song. just like how rule britannia was never the anthem in the UK, just a popular tune. He has every right to make his own version of it. not to mention, there has never even been an official version of the song, multiple forms of it already existed prior to buble doing this.
At the end, it references one of my favourite musicals, the 'Remember My Forgotten Man' sequence from Gold Diggers of 1933. To be honest, though, I'd rather just have the leggy chorus girls on stage than be subjected to Michael Buble's moose-like bellowing and murdering of swing.
GOD SAVE OUR QUEEN AND HEAVEN BLESS, THE MAPLE LEAF FOREVER!! Love from a Canadian ally 🇳🇱❤🇬🇧
Hello from Indonesia
Canada and The Netherlands will be allies forever 🇳🇱 🇨🇦
In 26 years of watching the Games, this was probably my favorite Olympic ceremony. It felt like the Junos!
Watch the closing ceremony from Sydney 2000.
In Days of yore,
From Britain's shore
Wolfe the dauntless hero came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave,
Our boast, our pride
And joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
In Days of yore,
From Britain's shore
Wolfe the dauntless hero came
And planted firm Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave,
Our boast, our pride
And joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
[CHORUS]
The Maple Leaf
Our Emblem Dear,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
God save our Queen and heaven bless,
The Maple Leaf Forever.
At Queenston Heights and Lundy's Lane
Our brave fathers side by side
For freedom's home and loved ones dear,
Firmly stood and nobly died.
And so their rights which they maintained,
We swear to yeild them never.
Our watchword ever more shall be
The Maple Leaf Forever
[CHORUS]
Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound
May peace forever be our lot
And plenty a store abound
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever
And flourish green for freedom's home
The Maple Leaf Forever
[CHORUS]
I miss the Olympics :(
Best bit of Vancouver 2010 closing ceremony!
I agree, I love Michael Buble’s music!
Full points to Mr. Buble for this, but I, personally, do not approve of the changing of the lyrics. I'll take the original thank you.
what a stodgy comment. the lyrics aren't that great, anyhow. too narrative.
@@averym7922 Speaking of stodgy comments. Past that, the *entire point* of the song is to be a narrative.
They were altered in 1997, it’s been nearly 30 years deal with it.

Im a Filipino and this version sucks. I prefer the original lyrics thank you.
what the hell the big beaver
I absolutely hate this version
Why?
@@Vraptor1 The original version is the best and always will be.
@@Vraptor1 sanitized lyrics
Boy, is this cheesy.
The blonde is cute
They took a beautiful song, and butchered the shit out of it. Shame.

What the hell did he do to my beloved Maple Leaf Forver?
