    I loved Nigel and Katya’s Rumba, the best dance of the night for me. I felt all their emotion and felt that Nigel was fully involved in the dance. I think their chemistry positively sizzled! I love how he is so grateful to be voted through, but never expects it. Out of all of them, I believe Nigel’s had the roughest ‘journey’ and critique. Just love them.

    Agree that Layton should do a traditional dance. I’m getting bored with him to be honest. Loved Annabelle and Jojo’s dance. I feel she has come the furthest in her dance journey. I’ll continue to vote for her (unless she really messes up).

      Layton was doing an AS. It's supposed to have non-traditional elements in it. Especially a "Strictly" version of it. Most of them we see have practically no recognizeable ballroom elements in them at all, which was not at all true of Layton.

    Why haven’t you pointed out that it was unfair that Angela & Carlos were the only couple in the last 6 not to get a couple’s choice. If the show had been playing fair they would have had a couple’s choice this week. In my opinion it was clear who the show wanted to leave. Angela was very moving on It Takes Two. She was obviously very disappointed.

    Absolutely loved Nigel and Katya’s rumba, I fell for the characterisation of the dance 100%. It was my fave dance of the night. The “mistakes” narrative has been constantly fed by the judges each week- to a ridiculous level- even clean dances are referenced with “no mistakes this week, well done” so rather than praise it’s reminding people of the negative and he’s constantly undermarked.
    I can’t imagine why anyone would think he doesn’t want to be there -unless you’re exceedingly poor at reading body language. I don’t hear anyone talking about how pissy Angela seemed at her judges comments this week or how blasé Ellie was to go through, or how dismissive Layton appeared to be towards his obvious lack of popularity to be in the bottom 2.

    • @honeybunny2800

Weirdly I've always liked her on TV, but I didn't find her as likeable on strictly, especially refusing to say she had some dance training, ( in Irish dancing) as it would help a little with posture etc which is fine, so why hide it🤷. Shirley saying that she’d have saved Angela over Layton is…well something she often does. I remember her saving Molly over Aston, Molly was a good dancer and well deserved semi-finalist.
    But we’ve saw good dancer early in Strictly so often.
    A lot of strictly viewers will also be old fashioned and not like seeing 2 guys dancing together. I’m 22 and I love seeing Layton and Nikita dancing! But I can see why they might not be as popular- which is sad if conservative views are the problem.
    I honestly think people have fallen for Annabel’s story and journey, she’s really impressed me! I thought she was good in week 1 but I wasn’t expecting her to last this long. Johannes is such a popular pro too, and the two of them are so sweet together! I hope they get to the semi at the very least!
    But for me; Layton and Bobby I can see being in the dance off next week. Nigel too as I feel his hesitation is really throwing him.
    Ellie, I agree with James, I think she’s a sure finalist and can win - plus Vito is adorable!
    And Annabel I think has another week left before she might be in trouble.

I was so sad to see Angela Scanlon leave and I hope she took some comfort from the fact that Shirley would have saved her. Layton is sweet, it’s not personal but I’m ready for him to leave now. As you say, his routines are becoming very ‘show dance’ and not technically ballroom.

    Layton and Nikita for me were at their best in their ‘putting on the ritz’ dance a while back. That was the dancing I would like to see more of. Dancing in hold needs some work. Regarding Nigel this week, I loved the storytelling of katya’s rumba, music and set good too and Nigel is a strong leader and did well I think. So I enjoyed their dance the best (even though I usually don’t like rumba’s! ) Annabelle needs some confidence to ‘act’ with her face but she did really well. I feel the public are behind her. Bobby’s dance was great too. What a great show. It will be so hard to see anyone leave next week.

      That was definitely on of Lakita’s top, but the overarching best one was the AT hands down- that’s a dance that’ll go down in Strictly history. I’m sure his ballroom’ll get better with practice, like any of the other dancers who aren’t experienced in a particular dance style.

    My issue with Layton is that I feel, that he's not dancing ballroom/latin, but he's always dancing a show dance. To me, it always feels like a "woooo look what I can do" dance and I prefer just a straight forward dance, as it should be. The other issue I have with him, is that I don't ever feel like he's following Nikita, like he's physically telling Nikita with his body "I got this, no need to lead me" its all just too much. He will be out at some point soon because they've given him most of the dances he will smash out the park - they should have saved some party dances til last

    Just finished watching Strictly It takes Two for the exit interview of Angela and Carlos and I couldn't believe how upset Angela was, no wonder Carlos said they felt robbed.
    Her upset might have also been due to the fact that the judge who trolled her for most of the series chose to make his first appearance of this season on Angelas exit interview program!. An organised defensive intimidatory move if ever I saw one, as everyone on the program knows that online feedback has called him out on his obvious bullying of Angela, his general misogyny even towards the female pros, and his totally biased protection of Layton. BBC cynically played the only 2 mildly positive comments he made about Angela in the first 2 weeks of the show! But NOT all the vitriol in Every week that followed. Fleur didn't confront the issue because like Angela she wants to work for the BBC in future. So that's how corporate bullies are protected folks - BBC style. Speaking of trolls , I am not going to reply to MattRoberts below who has been trolling my comments across TH-cam and I suspect from some of the details in his comments he is associated with the program trying to do damage limitation, and failing.

    I agree with James. All Layton’s dances are the same, and for me, really, for the stage. That’s why the Latin and ballroom dancers don’t do all his acrobatic moves, it’s not part of what they need to do. Sorry, great dancer, lovely boy but not for Strictly Come Dancing.

    Enjoyed the show this week, still think there is something missing can’t put my finger on it though. I agree with you James , Layton finding himself in the dance off will hopefully have done him a favour, interesting to see what they come back with next week. Ellie and Vito are my winners, they have a great partnership which you can easily see, Vito has really made her shine on the dance floor, which is lovely to see week on week. Nigel and Katya, I would love to see him come out next week and smash it! Dance as if no one is watching, just go for it! ❤

    My take:
    Angela and Carlos should have stayed. They stayed true to the brief. Didnt rely on tricks and DANCED the dance they were given.
    None of thr other dances had the absolute wow for me. Nigel and Katya, agree it didnt seem to be either max passion or max romance.
    Bobby and diane to me was trying to replicate rose and gio too much but it just wasnt on that level.
    Ellie and Vito. Agree. Somehow I feel they are dancing great, but there isnt the same chemistry as past couples have had, i think vito doesn't want to make it all about the sexy moves, and credit to him for that, but it does feel at times lacking the Giovanni factor

    I have loved watching Layton all the way through the competition. Yes he has dance experience but this is an entertainment show and he is entertaining. However, I would like to see him push himself in the traditional dances now because I feel he has plateaued and is showing us the same competent moves every week rather than his personal growth journey. I feel people would have invested more in him. Ellie is amazing and Bobby too but my favourite is still Nigel

    I didn’t agree with James on Annibels Paso. I didn’t think it was that good. There was no shaping she was very straight up. it wasn’t that dramatic. Ellie and Vitos Argentine Tango was brilliant. Sorry didn’t agree with you on that either. The song they were given didn’t help I think but they did a great job with what they were given. I like a sultry Spanish traditional music for the Argentine Tango which sets the mood for this dance

    I'm sorry to say but honestly I find James a little hypocratical. On the one hand, throughout this series he's been banging on how Layton is a professional dancer and implying how he has an (possibly unfair) advantage over other contestants. On the other hand, now he feels sorry for him and wants to give them a cuddle.
    If we talk about dancing professionally, we can name at least Nigel, and possibly Angela R for making a living out of dancing. Why only emphasise Layton's dancing experience? Repeating how his dance experience has basically just discounted the hard work he's put in for this show.
    Please just judge Layton for his dancing, and not just repeat again and again that he has experience dancing. If you're talking about being unfair, I dare say James has been very unfair to Layton.

    • @salutiesse
      @salutiesse 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Yh agreed- a tonne of people on social media keep on banging on about the supposed ‘professional’ in part due to perpetual statements made from prominent Strictly pros like James, and using it to justify why they don’t like them (like that’s the main reason when even the most at odds of people should be able to discern that Layton isn’t a pro dancer if he isn’t so adept at the ballroom side of things!).
      Sure, this week wasn’t their best week, like it wasn’t anyone’s best week, but instead of emphasising the fact that Layton ISN’T a pro to the audience’s minds, it’s mutated to ‘he’s not perfect so not worth the vote’, to mask the fact that this is supposedly the only reason they’re not voted for, despite the fact that Lakita’s relationship and charisma shines through every single week, despite the level of abuse they get.

    • @Liamxroberts

      100% agree, doesnt matter how much he says he loves Layton, constantly mentioning his experience is encouraging the trolls to do their thing, and James knows that. I’ve said this every week and I’ll say it again, I find it laughable that James doesn’t like professional dancers on the show when first of all he danced with Denise Van Outen (a professional dancer) and secondly he (a professional dancer) won Dancing on Ice as a contestant.

    Totally agree about your thoughts on Layton. I love him but I really want to see a stripped back technically good dance.
    I’m not keen on the rumba (it always comes across awkward when danced by non dancers) but I thought Nigel’s rumba was one of the best male rumbas I’ve seen on the show. I was surprised it was as good as it was because I wouldn’t have thought Nigel could do it.
    Annabels dance, for me, was the best of the night. I was standing up and cheering for them, alone in my front room. 😳 It was brilliant!!! ♥️
    I think I’m the odd one out concerning Bobbys dance. I didn’t think it was bad, but it didn’t hold my attention. It was just a bit meh for me 😬
    Again, Elle’s dance didn’t really grab me either. I feel I’ve seen better Argentinian tangos this year.
    I’m thinking Bobby and Nigel in the dance off.

      Don’t think you’re the odd one out regarding Bobby- maybe it’s just because I’m just a less sensitive person in some regards but, by and large, none of the emotive Couple Choices have provoked anything in me really- most have been well performed lyrically, but they’re rarely my favourites. And yes, Ellie and Vito’s AT certainly wasn’t showstopping unfortunately- not as intricate or intense as Lakita’s by any stretch of the imagination- 9s at most for sure.

    I saw a poll on here where they asked fans who they voted for last week ( Blackpool) and Layton and Nikita had the lowest public vote percentage, something like 10%. I think it's because he is a dancer and choreographer, he has no real journey unlike the others.

    • @catherine140864
      @catherine140864 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He came 4th out of 7 in the Strictly spoiler poll for Blackpool which is a reasonable size and he has been between 2nd and 4th most weeks. It's mostly women aged 55+ who vote on the Strictly spoiler poll apparently.
      I think unless he comes top of the judges scores he's going to struggle from now on with the public vote. It's possible he'll get a bottom two bounce but probably unlikely. If people get the same score, he could fall into the bottom two even if he tops the leaderboard.
      Don't think he's a choreographer though - I haven't read that anywhere. What's he choreographed?

    • @salutiesse
      @salutiesse 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He was only fourth by a very small fraction @@catherine140864 - very close between him, Nigel and Bobby. Think some of Bobby’s and Nigel’s voters voted for Annabel and Angela S in Blackpool. But for Layton, I do agree with you, he’s likely going to be in the dance-off even at the top of the leaderboard- he definitely consistently has less votes than any of the rest of the contestants still in the competition.
      Yh, I agree with you, I haven’t heard of him choreographing anything either; he’s certainly had a journey with Nikita through the series- one that’s strengthened their partnership and helped Layton learn some styles of dances he hasn’t had experience in before.
